I said of Mr Hancock's first lecture, to sum up in a word, beautiful; my opinion hasn't changed on this lecture.

What an insightful and inspiring lecture! Thank you so much for this in general and for turning this 55 year old onto Stravinsky.

Herbie is coming to the Atlanta Jazz Festival this Memorial Day weekend 2022.This event I am not going to miss.Love Maiden Voyage.and alot of his music. What a wonderful artist .Love Wayne Shorter too.,he's another jazz artist that has made some incredible great music. This lecture is inspiring.I know that John Coltrane and his wife Alice were avid listeners to Igor Stravinsky.I think their son Ravi also listened to the classics.Remarkable people.Brings so much enjoyment thru their music and history, intellect and how a genre of music that is jazz has created some of the greatest musicians that ever blessed this Earth.I don't know if anyone has heard "The Rite of Spring" done by flutist Hubert Laws, it's absolutely beautiful ❤️.

this guy is amazing, and these lectures are worth every second. hands down one of the greatest musicians of our time and a blossoming teacher. so it took me a wile to find the good in his views on slavery and africa. i thought meh, nobodies perfect. whats life without a self imposed impairment. i thought about how he feels its his birthright, as most african americans do, to an exclusive, ancestral pile of ashes to rise out of.
im polish. you dont know this, but we have something similar and it keeps us down too despite our grandparents telling us how good we have it. why? why do we squander this supposed sacrifice and hardship and use it to justify our shortcomings. because its false. the stories arent true, just the feeling is.
the more i thought about it, the clearer it became: we dont remember a real atrocity that is engraved into humanity. we all feel it and have been sticking labels on it through the ages, but no one knows what it was. id say it had to be famine and cannibalism, since i cant imagine anything worse. and it had to have been a routine for a long time to get so deep into us.
and well, id rather be a slave than be eaten. we know slavery went on for thousands of years, everywhere. white people were slaves, african kings had slaves, slavery was a common thing. it was normal and... still is. we feed and house ourselves, thats the only difference. all of us. clueless as to what were doing here but happy to not be getting eaten.
meh, im not a racist, i have no agenda, i just watched one of my idols suddenly grasp for sympathy and leverage that to support reason. i lost a lot of hope cause if this guy cant break free of that, no one can. i wrote this as a final hope, that if you read this, youll at least take a closer look at the values youre holding. not just slavery, all of our self-manipulating history of creating history. look how much can be acheived one just one bend of a narrative. if youre polish, look at Israel.
almost forgot! "this great country"...america is not a country...just a bunch of people from actual countries trying to have a good time. but just like you cant party on a pile of corpses, you cant rise if you hold lies as your identity.
you cant untie a knot if your hands are occupied and you dont even know theres a knot there in the first place.
you see, its all falling apart, a revolution and a civil war are coming. its too late to change anything and the whole world will suffer. a hunger.
maybe it pays off in the end and well learn to stop manipulating perception.
    maybe well see reality someday
and maybe, just maybe well become present and be here during this thing we call life.
(might be a dream you know)
    good luck out there

Love you and you are right in thinking of desperation. Just cool down, we can't change the all over. Just suffer from it, as it is forever? Hurts but is the truth? No, just go on like the master! Always proceeding without any mercy against oneself! That is the wisdom: to figth yourself when hatred kicks your feelings to overwhelm ones doom!
