As a young bass player,I am blessed to have seen Headhunters in real time..! In the 70’s @ Temple University w/Gil Scott Heron as the opening act...up close & personal front stage...what a experience..Herbie has been quintessential ground breaking force for generations & still is..TIMELESS is the one word to express the depth of his GENIUS...Thankyou very much for your brilliance & dedication to your craft & humanity..Peace & Blessings to you & your family always..!!

What a tremendous innovator. Imo, art is exploring and extending boundaries. So grateful to have experienced this. And he is such a humble human being. I would love to meet him.

    Great lectures.
Editing out the music and the recordings deserves a thumbs down which colors everything achieved up to that negatively.

Leaving out the musical clips severely detracts from this fantastic presentation. Too bad!!

Love Herbie and his endless curiosity and explorative spirit, but i would have him on acoustic piano and Fender Rhodes, interacting with other great musicians, all day, any day, over this cumbersome array of electronic devices which never sound that good to me, no matter how much technology advances.

Why are all the examples cut off???

Eliminating all music examples by other people does a real disservice to the overall brilliance of Herbie’s lectures. I really do not like this

I love Herbie Hancock. But, yes, this was like watching “Sound of Music” with all the musical parts edited out of the film…

      Not Herbie's fault.
      Definetly annoying though.

It's ridiculous she is a professor of African studies, sorry.

Having been a victim of the faux-Buddhist cult that Herbie preaches for (Wayne Shorter is also a member) I'm not happy about his proselytism in these talks. But when Herbie sits down at a piano - a proper piano - all is forgiven. That's when I learn from Herbie - not when he talks about Buddhism.

How were you a victim, why do you call it cult??? Maybe, you just were involved with people who wanted to use those teachings for their own gain and not true Buddhists. It's like labeling the whole christianity as faux just because some people in the middle ages used it to gain power and did not teach the true meaning of it.

I'm not a Buddist, but don't have a problem with Herbie talking about it. It is part of him and his journey, so I'm interested because of that.

Didn't hear any "Buddhist preaching" in this lecture. Also, while i am not a Buddhist and i have no particular sympathy for that specific organization, i have no problem in hearing Herbie talking about it, since it's an important part of HIS life. Live and let live.
