    Today's video starts a series of stories on how to improve the engine performance of a Jaguar X-type, the most simple and obvious things that many drivers ignore or forget about, nevertheless they are very important.
    Today I'll show you my way of fixing the Jaguar X-type mass air flow sensor problems. Surely, there are more complicated ways how to diagnose the MAF sensor condition, checking its voltage and so on. In case of a mass air flow sensor failure and fault codes on the dashboard referring to a MAF sensor, it should be replaced.
    On the contrary, here I will show you a regular routine maintenance that should be done to a good MAF sensor at least once a year (together with an air filter replacement) so that to keep it in a properly working condition.
    And here I give you the number of a Jaguar X-type mass air flow sensor - MAF-sensor: 1X43-12B579-AB DENSO MB197400-3021.

    Nice to know, I will be cleaning mine, just replaced my lower manifold and all seals, I had spark plugs and coils done 9months ago but still getting random misfires. I haven't changed the fuel filter yet. I will hopefully get round to it tomorrow.
    Thanks for the videos.

      Thank you for feedback, wish you good luck! As for the misfires, our cats live their own life and sometimes it's hard to explain what is the reason of their issues.

      You can surely find out what the problem was if you connect you X-type to a diagnostic scanner. The error code is surely kept in memory and you will be able to fix the problem. Good luck and thank you for watching!

    Hi Roman, Just so I'm clear: I'm cleaning the MAF sensor with Alcohol? And I don't need to worry about getting any of the pieces on it wet? Clean the whole thing? I have a 2005 Jaguar S Type. Thanks Roman

      I clean the measuring elements of the Hot-Wire Mass Air Flow sensor with alcohol and dry it with a hair dryer. I don't clean the whole thing, but if some alcohol gets somewhere, it's highly evaporable and I believe it evaporates quickly enough. Moreover, I don't connect the sensor immediately, I give some time to the alcohol to evaporate.

      @@jaguarrroman Thanks for answering my question. I really appreciate it! I dIsconnected the MAF and the car kept running. But when we re-connected the MAF the car shut off.

    Dear, I changed maf sensor but still there is missing in acceleration. Could you please suggest me what to do and how can we inspect? We have our mechanical work shop here.

      Thank you for the comment, my friend. It is difficult to tell you what is wrong to your car without connecting your car to the fault code scanner, but the most common issue of all X-types is a vacuum leak in the intake manifold due to bad gasket seal rings. In any case, you need a good mechanic. Good luck!

    Thank you very much, Roman! You mean it is a bad idea to clean the MAf with carb-cleaner? OMG! I have already done that)) But I hope he will forgive me... So, you mean medical spirit from the pharmacy will surely do?

    • @jaguarrroman
      @jaguarrroman  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for your comments, Dima! As for the carb-cleaner, it is surely harmful for the film-type (P.S. hot-film type of course) MAF sensors (BOSCH by Mercedes-Benz). As for the wire-type DENSO, some guys say DENSO endures the carb-cleaner, but I am not sure. The majority of sources say that MAF sensors should be cleaned with isopropyl alkohol. As for the medical one, you can try it also, it will not do any harm to your MAF.
