  • Paul replaces the Mass Air Flow Sensor on his 2006 Jaguar XK X150 4.2. Will this cure an intermittent Engine Fault Code?
Note my car is XK. Some small differences may be found on the XKR

It never ceases to amaze me how much 'stuff' Jaguar managed to conceal behind the wheel arch covers.

Oh! An upcoming road trip? I'll be there for it! Nothing like taking out the car you've worked on so hard and putting it to its intended purpose. It'll be epic! On my little island...road trips aren't much of a thing. Aloha...from Honolulu.🤣🤣

Wow what a place to put the air filter. Would have been easier if it was in the roof lining! lol. Dave Birmingham

Always great content! If I can find the right coupe (mostly convertibles in California) I’ll know how to solve all the problems! Thanks Paul!

HI paul, I have a spare filter tray in good condition with the original screws in good condition here if you want it also the filter insert. If i had known I also have the full MAF assembly spare as well all in mint conition. Let me know if you want the tray and insert to replace the butchered one.
As you know I stripped the radiator out of mine recently and did the vaccum pipes, water pump and thermostat assembly all at the same time. Replacing the aircon rad when I get 5 mins free as well. All is good though, just wish i had videoed everything. One of these days!! hopefully catch up at some point. WEll done on the 5k subs award from youtube!

Excellent content, Paul. Another demystifying DIY masterclass from start to finish that helps keep the XKR in fine fettle and saves valuable cash on otherwise expensive garage bills. It wouldn't surprise me if age-related connector corrosion wasn't the source of this intermittent problem. The replacement MAFS does seem to have cured the problem. Well done!👍

I looked for you at simply Jaguar Beaulieu, would have been good to talk to you.

Nice one Paul, I’m guessing on the 5.0 there are two of those MAF sensors to go with the double pain of two air filters….mind the potholes on the 500 i hear the road condition is appalling.

Correct, I done both MAFs' on my 2009 XKR-S (4.2) - I cleaned MAFs with electrical contact cleaner in between other jobs which involved pulling out the arch liners and the under trays - I do know I was at least 1 day getting the drivers MAF airbox taken off and put back due to the huge amount of work involved with rusted bolts etc. Jaguar wanted NOBODY to work on this car it seemed.

@@life_on_cars Can you even do this, I read that its a sealed unit or something? Those were the days when I could do 5 minute jobs on my 3L Subaru with the flat 6
