You're getting to see some of the best America has to offer on this trip, IMO. San Diego probably has the most perfect climate in the US. And of course, the West coast ocean vibe is pretty special, too.
I grew up in San Diego and the Zoo was free to us if we were under 16. I used to ride my bike down there a couple of times each summer and spend the whole day running behind the tour busses. The Zoo is so huge you really need 2 days to see it all.
When I go ‘home’ to visit family in SoCal from East Coast I fly nonstop to San Diego then take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner North to Orange County just to see a long stretch of ocean and watch surfers from my train seat.
I personally wouldn't mind a little more of you talking about the events of the day as a summary of your experience. I know you do it sometimes, and I think it adds a lot to the overall experience of your visit. Thanks again!
Noted! 😊
Haven't been to San Diego Zoo in over two decades. I miss all of San Diego but the Zoo was top notch even then.
This zoo is consistently rated 1or 2 as the best in the country. It was also one of the first to be designed in a natural habitat format. Milwaukee built one similarly in the 1960's. Kudos to all countries with a concern for animal husbandry. San Diego is a lovely city. Enjoy! from Wisconsin 😊
I don't recall you ever saying "woah" before when eating 'US food', so of course it's Mexican food in America that gets TWO woahs 🤭🦂
I grew up in San Diego.. Some times i really miss it. It is a beautiful place. This is one of the best zoo's in the world.. and I really love Balboa park.
San Diego is a beautiful city with fantastic weather, I have relatives living there , the zoo is so big you can't see it all in one day , when I was there I had to see the koalas, and Mexican food , the best, mom cooked it for us , she's Mexican, now I cook it for her , great video Marie, new york
I lived in San Diego on Mission Beach back in the mid 80's and remember my first trip to the zoo there. It was and still is absolutely incredible! One of the best zoos in the world.
I was born in SD and my parents have pics. when they lived ON the beach - early 50s
@@ronaldsmith2343 oh, how cool! I bet it was much better then not being near as populated as it is now. San Diego is such a beautiful city.
So glad you are seeing different areas of our country...each special and unique!❤😊
I hope America lived up to your expectations, and that everyone you met was friendly and welcoming.
My late wife went to San Diego just before we met. She loved the city and said the zoo was really nice too. Great video! Great editing too! Thanks for posting it.
San Diego is fun. So much to see and do. And the best weather in the world. Enjoy.
Looks like you had fun. The water on the coast of California is very cold. It is one reason the areas inland just a few miles have such a pleasant climate. Even if it is basically very hot & arid, the cool ocean breezes give it a very mild temperature.
The water on the coast of *Northern* California is cold. The water on the beaches of Los Angeles and San Diego is like a swimming pool.
Bonjour Marie, I've been looking forward to your first video from CA. You did a wonderful job as always.
The San Diego Zoo is world-renowned. Its over 100 years old. 1:42: That is a Komodo dragon. They are vicious hunters, but rarely attack people.
The fireworks were a nice way to end a great day. Looking forward to your next video..
You should also consider the San Diego Wild Animal Park, it's more of an open plain where you see the animals in large open areas, almost safari like it setup, lot of African large animals wandering freely.
Definitely! It's an amazing experience too.
I live in SD and it’s amazing seeing how people really enjoy everything about our city. Such as balboa park, the zoo, food, and the climate. Lots of love from SD ❤
Marie, I am really happy for you that really has time to visit more places that everyone imagine, great surprise for all those videos that you have been showing to us, always we like the way that you secret planning your material, always love you hard work
Come back soon, Эddy
Once upon a time there wasn't much settlement around the SD airport, but now it's wedged in among lots of buildings - it's pretty scary. I prefer to fly in and out in the late evening when I can't really see the risks. ;) The San Diego Zoo and Safari Park grow the botanical food that the animals eat - they are trying very hard to be self-sufficient. I recommend seeing the coastline and beaches around La Jolla, and Del Mar and Torrey Pines (to the north of the city of SD).
As a native, still in So. CA, I concur. There is so much to see and do. I'm proud of all there is to offer and the many other places to visit not to far away. There's the Mountains, National Parks, Beaches, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Tijuana, Los Angeles amusement attractions. Love all our attractions as well.
That is a fabulous zoo, no doubt. It lets you get very close to the animals while still giving them nice large habitats.
Back when I had children (who are at least 10 years older than you Marie; I loved taking them to the zoo. I think I liked it better than the kids. Great way to spend a day. First went to that zoo in '67
I was stationed in San Diego for 7 years and I loved it. I'm glad you enjoyed the zoo ☺️
Hello Miss Marie !!! I Hope you Get to see The Giant Red Wood Tress while over on the west Coast !!! As Always the Like Button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🌞🥴
I'm glad you got to see one of our country's best finest cities. Living all my life in So Cal I try not to take it for granted how special it is. San Diego was a special place for our family vacations when my daughters were young. And it was a treat that you ate at our favorite place to grab some awesome Mexican style food Santana's ❤
Oh gosh they had a special fireworks show for you Marie. Aren’t you special. 😀😂
Happy Father’s Day to your Dad.
4:23 These cats are common in my area. They are sometimes even caught on outside security cameras just walking around the houses at night.
Good music and beautiful visit of the zoo...Thank you...
What a wonderful way to end this video! Thanks for entertaining us!
Very happy to see you enjoying yourself, Marie. Great to experience you making memories which will stay with you the rest of your life! Take good care.
Maybe the extinct ground sloth is what so many people have confused for big foot back in the day 😂! It’s huge!
Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful time and as always, stay safe.
The fireworks you saw were from Sea World! I’m glad you’re having a great time here in San Diego 😊❤
I know how much you love animals so am really happy you made it to the Zoo. Knew you would love it.
Love the Zoo and Mission Beach! You’ll have plenty of chances for more amazing Mexican food. Enjoy! 💕
Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!!!!! There is sooo much to see and do there. Have fun Marie!
Oh, brings back so many memories! I moved to Escondido first( 30 miles north) where the wild animal park is. Then moved down to San Diego to go to San Diego State University. After graduating, lived across the street from Balboa park, 15 minute walk to the zoo. This was in the late 70’s when it wasn’t as crowded! But my son lives in Mission Beach today and I have kept up with the changes by visiting him. I now live in Reno NV, about a 10 hr drive or a 1 1/2 hr direct flight. Definitely need to see Reno and Lake Tahoe sometime!!👀😊
I have visited San Diego twice and I enjoyed both visits.
Cali ! 💙
I'm happy that your happy Marie, I liked your dress, looking good girl.. take care and be safe
I live just North of San Diego. It is a fun place to visit. Enjoy the California experience.
I went to Boot Camp next to that airport. San Diego is a wonderful town.
Hi Marie, glad you’re seeing America in all its forms. Keep visiting!
Welcome to my town! I was smiling all through this as you visited several of my favorite places.
I love the zoo, and live close enough to it that I can visit it frequently. You did miss a couple of my favorites... the Orangutans and the Koalas. You did manage to find one of my favorites though... that little aviary in the "Africa Rocks" section. Any time I go to the zoo, I always spend a lot of time in there watching (and photographing) the birds.
Mission Beach and Belmont Park had a lot of happy memories from my youth.
And what better way to top things off than with some yummy Mexican food (of which San Diego has plenty!). Tasty tacos and a burrito the size of your head. Life is good!
Oh... and another fun fact about the zoo... Their botanical collection is as amazing as their collection of animals.
Oh we did see them! I couldn't put everything on the video ☺️
@@FrenchTasticExplorations Yay! That makes sense... it would be nearly impossible to get from Africa Rocks to the Giraffes and miss the Koalas. 🙂 The Orangs are a little more out of the way, so many people do overlook them. They've always been one of my top favorites because their faces are so expressive. It looks like you really got the full zoo experience. Did you see the rattlesnakes you were hoping to see?
Good to see you looking so happy.😁😁
San diego is awesome and that mexican restaurant is the best ive ever had including mexico
Good music for a trip to the zoo!
Your videography is so professional. Love watching your videos.
Amazing thanks for showing San Diego Zoo! I will go there someday.
Now you know why San Diego is my favorite city in America! San Diego zoo is one of the best in America. Balboa park is amazing. Mission beach is just one of many. Were the fireworks from Sea World? There is so much more to San Diego. Did you see the hot air balloons?
Hi Marie Yes they have the best Mexican food
I’m so glad you visited my State❣️🥰💕If you ever go to San Diego again, try the Mexican food at Casa de Guadalajara❣️It’s delicious and it’s a beautiful setting❣️🌮🌴🌺🌴🌺🌴🌺
San Diego zoo is the best. I had to laugh when I saw the hippopotamus....
I think the San Diego Air and Space Museum is also in part of Balboa Park. Recommend it.
Nice video Marie. So happy you're enjoying your trip.
I'm glad you're enjoying San Diego make sure you see the San Diego Zoo. And please be safe and careful and as always you look amazing
Did you watch the video?
I do not know how much time you have in California, but try to squeeze in a few of the Missions.
They are an important part of our history and each one is different enough that you can see something new. The best stretch of them I would say is Santa Barbara, San Buenaventura, San Luis Obispo and La Purísima Mission State Historic Park.
She's been home for months. The post production on the videos takes awhile.
Fantastic video. California has so many things to see and the food's great too...anything you want! 👍❤🤙
What a perfect video! Beautiful animals, great food, the beach, fireworks. Thank you, Marie! Looked like a lot of fun.
30 years ago I stayed at a hotel overlooking the same marina shown at the beginning of your video. The San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the country. Us older folks remember Joan Embery as a guest on the Tonight Show showcasing animals from the zoo with Johnny Carson. On one show a small monkey peed on Johnny's head. 😂
Great video of an amazing city. I especially loved the zoo. I have only been there once myself. Unfortunately it was undergoing a major renovation so half of it was closed. Saw much more in your video so special thanks for the video. Hopefully you got more chances to see the Pacific Ocean and more. Merci beaucoup.
The Kroc Family Tropical Rain Forest exhibit at the San Diego Zoo was named after Ray Kroc. Ray purchased a small restaurant from the McDonald brothers in San Bernadino in 1961 and built it into the McDonalds franchise we know today😅
San Diego is my favorite city in california. Glad you had fun.
You are definitely a sweet soul..❤
Yay!! I'm glad you got to see the zoo, and on such an active day for the animals! If you ever visit Minnesota, you'll have to check out the zoo here, as it's one of the biggest in the whole US! For comparison, the San Diego Zoo is about 100 acres but the Minnesota Zoo is 400!
San Diego Safari Park is 1800 acres!
its cool that you visited the zoo. animals are so awesome. as a californian, i take pride in our state flag because of the grizzly bear on it. i love bears and love that california used to have its own grizzly bear subspecies! its unfortunate it was hunted to extinction.. its said that it would have rivaled the kodiak bears in size. just wow.
I just came back a few days ago from a family vacation in San Diego. I absolutely love it there. Its so beautiful and the weather is perfect. I have been feeling so sad and miss it already, but your video brought back sweet memories 🙂
I was stationed at the Navy Submarine Base on Point Loma in the late 1980's. One of my favorite places was Cabrillo Monument at the end of Point Loma. The view is beautiful.
Hi Marie! Happy you are enjoying my hometown!! 😊
I went to The San Diego Zoo when I was 8 with my School class. Before that the only place I had seen it was in the opening and ending of Three's Company Show.
San Diego is like nothing else in California!
Watching you eat Mexican food there made me SO envious!
Looks awesome. Great zoo. Hope you had fun. Stay well and be safe.
Another wonderful video, Marie. Thank you !
Best Mexican food in San Diego... a little family owned hole in the wall "Jalisco's" 1600 block of Palm ave, just East of Imperial Beach ...Its parking lot is accessed from the next street over... MUST TRY!!!
Glad you are having fun in the states, I understand it can be difficult here, dealing with people who live a fast paced work oriented lifestyle. We are always on the go and sometimes it just makes people in the USA hard to connect with, but I'm sure you have been able to see the difference in people from the cities vs people in the country side. I hope you continue to have fun, despite the current state of the country 😉
That looked like such an amazing day. I bet you were exhausted after that one! You definitely lucked out with a lot of the animals which allowed you to film some great content. A lot of the times some of the animals will just be sleeping, most of them in a hiding spot. Hope you have a great weekend! 🌞🌴🌊⚜
Glad you had such a happy day! Dors bien!
So happy for you, it makes my day to see you smiling. Great video Miss Marie.😉
Very cool, I love my home town of San Diego. Did you know that the San Diego Zoo was one of the first zoos to attempt to build animal enclosures that mimicked the animals' natural habitat? Most good zoos do that now but there was a time when zoos would cram animals into small cages with concrete floors. This effort, by the SD Zoo, is why it is world famous. Something else that is interesting is that San Diego's Balboa Park is the largest urban park in the USA (sorry SF but Golden Gate park is outside your city). The entirety of downtown Boston would fit in Balboa Park.
Bonjour Marie! Looks like you had an amazing time! I caught a glimpse of the menu from Santana's so I looked it up online. They had "authentic style" tacos where it's 2 soft yellow corn shells but it looks like you (or your companion) went with the more "American" style with the fried corn shells. The burrito you were eating definitely looked "authentic." I love Mexican food so much, and I'm blessed here in the Detroit area that we have the "Mexican Town" area within the city of Detroit, and a lot of "authentic" Mexican restaurants, grocery stores, and food trucks in all of the surrounding cities. Two quick minor quibbles (not a complaint, please don't take offense, just a difference in opinion): When you saw one of your favorite animals (Leopard?) in the video you turned around and said something. I wish that you would have allowed us to hear what you had said instead of playing the "royalty free music." Same with the fireworks, I would have loved to hear them booming and your reaction as opposed to the "soundtrack." Maybe the audio was bad or there was royalty music playing so you had to use the music overlay instead, but I would have loved to hear your reactions to the leopard and to the fireworks. Otherwise, another awesome video as always. Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed
she was looking at cheetahs when she said it was her favorite animal
I said "beautiful" when I saw the cheetahs 🐆
As for the fireworks, we were listening to the music in the car, so I had to cover that up to avoid copyright issues 😊
A beautiful place to live 1978-79. Beware the riptides on Cali beaches! Glad you had a good time.
Still great in 2024.
Thank you for another wonderful video.
great video today!! thank you and your friends!
Awesome video!!! I've been to San Diego once and it was a great time! I'm glad you are enjoying your visit there! :0) 🐺
The Zoo videos were great Marie. That must have been exciting to see. Glad you enjoyed it. Great fireworks also. Sure hope you get to see the giant Sequoia trees. Can't wait for your next video.
Marie, Glad you got all the way across the country. Must have been a great trip.
Glad to see you’re having a great time. You did a great job with this video.
Always glad to see you!
There is a nice restaurant in La Jolla (I can't remember the name) where you can look out over the water and we saw a large whale in the water blow water up through its blowhole. It was pretty amazing.
The Chart House?
@@gergc4871 I don't think it was that far from La Jolla, itself. Maybe the Marine Room? We weren't that far away from La Jolla and Torrey Pines.
Welcome to San Diego, I live in east county of San Diego
Tres bien! Tu es toujours très charmant!
Bienvenue en Californie!!!
So happy you made it to Sunny Southern California, & San Diego is the best & perfect start to your West Coast Adventure! Of course it'll be totally different from your Arizona & East Coast adventures, but I assure you that you'll have a wonderful time!!! Minus the trademark South Cali Freeway Traffic, & believe me since you're here YOU WILL ENCOUNTER IT!!! Just be sure you have alot of water & sustenance, you have better odds surviving the Sahara Desert than a Southern California Traffic Jam.... lol 😂😂😂
Those planes sure do go low over busy San Diego streets when they land (0:38). I remember that from when I lived there.
2 years ago did you think you would have visited all the places you have visited thus far ( Alsace/Loranine, Switzeland, Italy, Cyprus, the U.S. twice)? I bet there have been disappointments as well as surprises (food, Niagara Falls). The Reality rarely lives up to the fantasy in our heads. So I cannot wait to hear your thoughts and if your passion to explore is still present and part of your future.
Salut , it's been well worth the wait miss Marie 😃 🌅
You looked like you had a blast in America's finest city , going to the zoo definitely lived up to expectations , so many marvelous & unique animals to see. I'll like to have one of those 🍾 🌴 for the garden, the giant sculptures are all so cool, that's a pecket 🐭 they used to roam on sandy soil between Tijuana & LA, they've been trying to save them. The giant tortoises are cute in their own way , it's remarkable that they live so long , last year after decades of waiting the endangered indian soft shell turtles finally bred with 41 hatchings & bravo to the volunteers who remove barnacles from the wild ones. It's interesting watching all the insects & how they go about things, it's a bit freaky in the red light, they have some unque ones, there's stag beetle's in europe but I've never come across them. I noticed the red Panda there from the Himalayas & mostly eat bamboo shoots & lick themselves like cats & are related to bears , there so adorable. It's awesome to be around big cats 🐯 the tiger ( your 1998 chinese zodiac) didn't mind the large crowds while mushing meat chucks, I hope the cheech has enough space to run around, there more easy to get close to without being afraid, what took me by surprise was the sable tooth fossil, now that would be a scary cat to encounter. I like that there teaching all about California's prehistoric animals like the giant 🦥 imagine how long those claws would have been, they probably went extinct when hunters showed up. When it comes to polar bears they are that tall on their hindlegs, the tallest was 11.1ft spotted in Alaska back in the 60's , did you know they were traced back to Ireland. The 🦅 nest was amazing, I like watching them on live cams from across America & the golden one in Scotland. The 🐘 are wonderful, curious & playful like us in a lot of ways, you can tell their African from their bigger ears compared to the Asian ones. I'm not the biggest fan of zoos & prefer animals out in the wild but I do appreciate everything there doing to save those that are endangered like the condor throughout the south west, You would make a great zoologist or marine biologist given the opportunity.
After all that you'll bound to be pickish, the tacos 🌮 there are so yummy, could be the best outside Mexico, there's a famous family one in Tijuana everyone talks about. Nevermind that heading to the beach 🌊 with your GoPro didn't turn out the way you wanted, they will be plenty of another times, the zip line was crazy, as long as you made the best of it strolling around the boulevards 🎡 taking in the attractions that's what matters. What better way to finish then with a sunset & 🎆 maybe if you like on July 4th your think about going live & have a celebration talking about your trip & what America means to everyone.🇺🇲
Happy weekend to all the father's out there, Thanks french fry God bless 🤗💕✌️
OH YEAH!!!!
Hi Marie ! Nice smile ! Glad you're having fun !
Thank you for posting.
Spent many years in San Diego. All of my Submarine schools were right there between Harbor and Shelter Islands. I hope you get to the very tip of San Diego at Cabrillo National monument. Was this the most amount of wild animals you've ever seen? Your green dress looked fabulous on you!
