Short (silent) clip showing how to tie the Brahmagranti, mala knot. I've been making malas and teaching mala making for almost 20 years. This video is mainly to remind students how to tie the knots, although it may help the complete novice too.

Hi Dana, Thanks for your comments and encouragement to make a better video.
In the meantime, I've included 'basic mala making instructions' in the comments section. It's possible to play the video in slow motion using youtube settings.
      Kind regards, Sanyamatma

Thanks for your reply! I've followed your instructions, which have been so helpful, but am still struggling with the slow motion knotting part! But I will keep at it! Thanks again for offering this technique (is it the traditional technique or one you invented?) . This technique looks so much more flowing, meditative and elegant than stringing each individual bead and using bottle nose pliers to ensure a tight knot! Have a great week!

Yes, this is a traditional technique which I've refined.
'flowing, meditative and elegant' . . . this is what I've tried to demonstrate as I was quite surprised to see the other 'mala making' videos on youtube with pliers, needles etc.
I'm in the process of editing a 25 minute instructional video, thinking to have extracts on youtube and then 'sell' it at a nominal fee. Haven't worked out how to do that yet!
