- I kind of lose it today. And why? Magical Colouring In Books. And I don't mean those pretty books with complicated pictures of fish and mermaids. I mean books marketed as being educational to adults, that you have to colour in. Yes, they exist. And yes, I looked at them.
And yes, I got ridiculously angry.

Oh bless! Natural fibres and loose stuff all the way for me now! I'm currently obsessing about a pattern for loose not-quite-baggy-festival-type-things trousers that I bought at a fabric sale the other day. I've made two pairs so far, and am living and dying in them. And they are.... ELASTICATED. Yes, I have reached the point of my life in which I require elasticated trousers. Oh well!

I'm American, and I am NOT built for this weather here, but the beautiful weather you just described 😂 I can't take this, what they're calling a heat dome, which is 90 degrees or above with 80-90% humidity, so not only do you sweat to death, but suffocate as well 😂
So many friends in the State struggling with this mad weather at the moment! I hope it lets up soon....
Cheese cloth is the best thing to wear if you really want to stay cool. The more you can let your skin breathe the better.
I do have some cheesecloth to make up into something nice and summery.....

I’m sorry you experienced a day where nothing felt positive, and I hope your days to come are better ❤. I can absolutely empathize with that feeling. I really appreciated you speaking up for the idea that people should identify with whatever gender makes them happy and eff-off to bigots! That was a very positive thing for me to hear and it made me happy. I’m also starting to make my own clothes, using only natural fibers, and while I’m building a historical wardrobe to wear historical dress every day (because I’m weird like that), I have found thrift stores to be excellent sources for 100% cotton or linen bedding and curtains that can be made into garments. I’m not sure of y’all’s thrift shops work in the UK, but that might be a consideration. I’m not I to the modern“witchy aesthetic” as part of my personal style so cannot speak to that. You clearly have VERY STRONG feelings about witchy coloring books and I am all for allowing someone to feel how they feel. I wasn’t offended at all by any of it even though I feel differently about the subject. Anyone who gets offended by someone disagreeing with them needs to be more open minded. I agree that just coloring doesn’t create magic and I admittedly don’t have a consistent books of shadow for a number of reasons but a lot of the reason is having health issues and not a lot of extra energy. I have found cutting up parts of those coloring books or transcribing information from the text or even just cutting and pasting can be useful in helping me retain information I’m trying to learn. I’ve also recently been developing as an “art witch” if a label needs to be used. I charge my artistic tools whether they be the brushes or gel pens I use, the paper, etc. I’ve even used images and text from these coloring books and worked spells into the coloring/painting/crafting so that the finished project is a magical spell. So for myself at least, these provided some useful learning tools and jumping off points for art projects, learning aids, and magical spellsI thought your rant was funny, but I sense the pain and frustration of all these stressful things that are going on in your life and I wanted to extend my compassion wishes for better times to come. ❤
Oh, you are lovely!!!!! I'm lucky enough to have lots of friends who identify differently to what was assigned at their birth, and I feel very strongly about it. If people feel that respecting people's requests about their identity is too much like hard work, then they aren't going to like the rest of my opinions, for sure!

Living in South Africa, we also do not have air conditioning. Summer months is so hot we melt (I am sure you can fry an egg on the pavement). Thankfully, our winters are mild snow only on the distant mountain tops that we feel here 200kms away. Heaters and fans are a must.
As to clothing, I have given up, just buy what is comfortable.
Some of my male friends have given up too - they either wear wraps and funky tops - in summer def shorts of some sorts, and winter as warm as we can
Comfortable is the best. I'm totally on board with comfortable!

I don't really have a problem with these colouring books. They are fun... Will you learn anything from them? Probably not, but there is magic in colour - you have the charkas and they have their own colours. Crystal magic is heavily colour based. Candle magic is based on colour. There are witches who practice art magic and colour is important to that. The elements each have their own colour that is associated with them. All of the runes have colours associated with them. Creating art and doing craft projects means that you can make things for your altar without having to buy expensive statues. What's created might not be considered fine art, but it's a start. People can bind their own books for their BOS/Grimoires and these have more meaning to them than a store bought notebook. Without 'art' the achievements of the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians would have been lost to time. It's just another way of practicing.

I have my personal opinions about stuff about gender but happiness is absolutely the most important thing in life 💪🏻 I think the colouring books portrait women in scenarios that are more then what we see in pop sex culture today. And healthy for girls and young women and boys. It really nothing more than that to me.
I hate colouring so I don’t own one. My drawings are in black ink and sometimes I use nail polish to get the color of the moon ☺️ thats when I get fancy tho 😂

Firstly, I detest the whole "witchy anesthetic" thing, the notion is just glorified cosplay, *IMO*. 🤢 That said, and maybe this is one of those differences between the UK & US, but guys have had their "witchy aesthetic" for decades too. Maybe they're just lazy nowadays and it boils down to a Green man shirt? Both genders' aesthetic runs the gamut of what I generalize as "ooky-spooky" to "airy-fairy". You'll find both who dress like Renn Faire extras to gothic Hogwarts background staff complete with capes. There's the Stevie Nicks Wannabee look for women with matching guys' plastic shaman look for those on the hippy/faux gypsy kick.
Glorifed cosplay! YES! You've put your finger on it exactly. I don't dress particularly "witchy" (shuddering at that word) because I don't need to advertise who or what I am. I know. I'm a witch whether I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a flowy polyester dress that shouldn't be ANYWHERE near a ritual fire. I think there may be a US/UK divide on the bloke thing. Over here it really does seem to be jeans and t-shirt with a polyester cloak if lucky.

Honestly, in the summer English people just lie around like a wet lettuce complaining about the heat. In the winter we huddle together like penguins and complain about the cold. It's like a national pasttime: complaining about the weather.
