- Those subscription box schemes run to separate people from their money for a brief seratonin/dopamine hit really grind my gears. A friend (Alex Bear from "The Transdruid") send me this last week, and I really didn't know whether to laugh or throw my screen across the room. So I've experimented with my first "reaction" video...
Please do feel free to comment, particularly if you know what spritiual practice "stirring coffee with dyed blue howlite" might be evoking....
I've just found you, I'm 5 minutes into the video and I already love you!!! 💜
Thankyou so much!!!!
Oh my gosh! I love this video!
Love it! 🖤😄👍🍀
Thank you 😁
I wear my old glasses when I dye my hair for just that reason
Super sensible!
I just found your channel and i had watch a few videos and laugth so much ! I really do enjoy your personnality and humor ! 😂😊🤩
Thankyou so much! I'm just a grumpy old fart having a good old whinge about things I probably shouldn't say out loud. Whoops! Really glad you dropped by!
I instantly subscribed! I realized I was a witch during the pandemic in my late 40s. I feel something special and generative in my life to come I to my power in my crone years. I love discovering content creators who have that perspective and I’m looking forward to watching your other content. You’re hilarious! Chefs kiss on the sarcasm: expertly done. I almost spit out my drink twice. First when I saw the Congregations , you’re a witch , Geilis and second when you commented that the young lady’s life would be different because she’d be lighter 40 quid a month. I also abhor those who just seek to profit off of neo pagans and don’t really believe or care about something so important to millions. Take care.
Thankyou SO MUCH! It's lovely to have kindred spirits here
@@GrumpyOldCrone me too!
Just found your channel and subscribed...your very entertaining and your views interesting..
Thankyou! I've had Covid, so been out of circulation for a while. But getting back on the horse now! (or the hoarse, given what the coughing did to my voice...)
So glad you came up on my home feed, that algorithm is spookily accurate and a tad disconcerting at times because you dear 'Lady of the Grump' say so much I have thought myself 😵💫 Anyway love your content and instantly subscribed and currently 'Binge Watching' which is a term I find a bit annoying but couldn't think of a clever alternative. Totally agree on these so called subscriptions and find it unbelievable that anyone with an ounce of common or spiritual sense believe that chucking money down the grid will bring anything other than a deficit in their Bank Statement. Thank you for making me smile. Blessed Be ❤🌻
Thankyou for dropping by! Honestly, those boxes do my head in. It's really just preying on people who need "something more" but don't know what or how. I may have to adopt "Lady of the Grump" (although I just mistyped it as 'Lady of the Frump' which is also uncannily accurate....). Blessed be and have a brill day!
There's a store in the States called Five Below which is basically a glorified dollar store. The contents of this box look like things I would find there. Also, I love heavy makeup as much as the next person, I wear it myself - but the heaviness of the makeup, paired with the fact that they're marketing this solely to women, belies the intent of a marketing strategy.
That's what I think the marketing solely to women bit is about - the aesthetically appealing, heavily made up Witchy Woman (TM) character is the product they're selling, and you do could become her if you reallocated 40 pounds a month you might've spent on groceries or something else you need on that instead to become *~powerful~* !
If they told us the truth, that true power is already within us, how could they separate us from our money, the primary measurement of power in our society? It's a whole lot of yikes.
Thanks for the video. It's refreshing to see content from a witch who's more interested in the craft than in marketing.
Omg love your content! Too funny, thank you for saying exactly what I’ve been thinking about those subscription boxes.
I think a lot of people have similar feelings of "HELL NO!" about those subscription boxes. I'm at the point in my life where I don't need any more random stuff in my house. I've got plenty of random stuff already! And taking advantage of truth seekers is just awful...
You rock!! I'm so glad I found your channel. You made me laugh so hard!😂
Thankyou so much! Honestly, these boxes need to be laughed at sometimes!
I came across your channel a couple of days ago and just love your honesty and saying it as it is
Love the user name! I get some interesting comments from people who disagree, for sure... It's lovely to have you here
Ya know I’m only 3 minutes in and I realize I am meant to be here 🤣👌🏻
Welcome! I do love a good rant.....
love this... what do think about the other subscription boxes like Tamed Wild or The Witches Roots?
I have to have a look, I think!
I’ve been binge watching your videos…thanks for your honesty…and the laughs! Agree with rip off crap being marketed for ridiculous prices…nature provides most of my tools and altar decor 🌿
I’m in Lincoln too!
Fellow Lincolnite!!!!! Welcome!!!!!
Sadly, not surprising. This profiteering has been increasing exponentially, over the last couple of decades in particular. It's taking advantage of the fact that most seekers are young and/or solitary, relying largely on social media for info (which in itself is problematic); and some are in need of therapy. It's playing on their desperation for change but don't know where to turn. It makes people desperate enough to believe in $40 p/month for a box of cheap bits.
Definitely this. Every time I think we need people getting real in the craft, I run smack up against my imposter syndrome. And then I get angry because I've been doing this for 38 years and still feel like I don't know enough to step into a teaching role, but see people who clearly have NO BLOODY IDEA what they are talking about, but doing it with such confidence and making money off the side of it. GRRR!!! I do tarot readings for people, and someone came to me the other day and the conversation went sideways about a nasty situation she found herself in. I suggested some gentle spellwork to raise some protection. I asked her if she wanted some help with doing it and she asked what I charged. She was really surprised to find out that I don't charge for that stuff. It's a loving duty, not a business opportunity.
I rlly like ur voice, first time i see you in my CZcams!! Love ur video, they r cool!! ^_^
Thankyou!
The best dopamine hit when it comes to getting post is a lovely handwritten letter from a friend 😊 my cat is already begging to go for a walk. 18:06 and loving yourself!
I haven't had a handwritten letter for years - they were lovely things when I got them, though! Hoping the cat enjoyed the walk!
Baby witch drives me crazy, I'm glad I'm not alone. New subscriber 💙💜✨️ I don't like subscription boxes in general but my magick tools are chosen from purpose and need, not hoarding wholesale synthetic crystals and dropship sage. That's Tibetan rope incense, I believe.
Thankyou so much for the rope incense info - it's not something I've seen before (in case you couldn't tell!), and isn't really available around me. I'm 100% with you on choosing things carefully and with purpose -some of the things I use daily are homemade, or made by beloved people, which gives them a beautiful feeling of love and power.
Going to be picking up some baby chickens this May Day.
Baby chickens are the best! I haven't kept chickens for a couple of years now and I miss them like crazy....
Like Barnum said: there's a sucker born every minute.
True, but I just feel so sad for people being exploited like this. Well, sad AND angry. Quite angry actually. Some people are looking for a path through life that works for them, and the people who do these boxes know that. They also know that these people may lack the critical skills and knowledge to understand what they are being offered. Oooooh, I could spit feathers!
Some people like to eat fresh food and others prefer to eat a so-called Happy Meal out of a box with a little plastic trinket inside.@@GrumpyOldCrone
There's a mineral store near me - you could buy almost all of the for about 20 US dollars.
It drives me crazy, people are getting taken advantage of! You are absolutely right about the cost of stuff from a good store as opposed to these "box schemes".
Or simply look up local events to see when and where the next gem & mineral show is. That same $40 would get a person a hefty haul. Bonus tip: Sometimes there's an exclusive section with even better prices, accessible if you have a vendors license for your own business. 🤫
That doesn't look like coffee grounds.... Also, howlite is awful.
Agreed. Howlite is terrible. And people so *often* buy it thinking it is turquoise, it hurts my heart. What do you reckon the weird gritty stuff was?
@@GrumpyOldCrone It looks like something that dribbled out of a latrine.
And a nice bottle of gin more likely supports a small business too!
And you have gin! Winner!
They always discount the men, it's annoying. My husband is just as much of a witch as I am
Right???! Winds me up so much. It's that offensive stereotype (or series of stereotypes) that say you can't be a witch unless..... whatever rubbish they decide. Bollocks to all of it. I hate it. My husband doesn't vibe with the word "witch" but is absolutely as much of a magical practitioner as I am, too. I raise a mug of tea to all the blokes out there feeling excluded. They shouldn't! They are brilliant too! (as indeed are all those lovely people who fall between gender descriptive words, and are just busy being their own brilliant selves).
@@GrumpyOldCrone yes I understand my husband doesn't actually vibe with the word witch, but I would say thats the stereotyping around it
Because they're selling pop culture "witchcraft" and preying on women's emotions and stereotype. IRL, most of the persons who've been instrumental in advancing modern witchcraft have been...wait for it... men.
