The thing is if you actually look at the dmg its not like old souls games, You actually get increased dmg past lvl 99 str it actually calculates it properly so those stats are not wasted at all, But ofc diminishing returns makes it not worth lvling that far.
Man slapped in economics terms. You cud tell me 2+2 is 9 I Will believe you😹😹😹😹😹

99 is the _hard_ cap.
@@UNGXDLY2129 diminishing returns suggests a “soft cap”. You’re not getting much in return if you add points past 80. 96 is just overdoing it
I’ve actually stopped adding points around 81. Just moved on to another area eventually
With your first playthrough and NG+ you'll have plenty of larval tears to respec. I have 9 leftover on my first playthrough even after respeccing a few times and I haven't started NG+ yet
Take a backup of your save and you'll have infinite larval tears, assuming you don't want or need to progress any more main story stuff. It's nice if you want to test out a load of builds to see what you like best without having to rely on having loads of larval tears as well
You can get 17 or something in a single playthrough
Nah bruh. I like trying new builds constantly. I used up all the tears so quick that I had to cheat to duplicate them because I'll be damned if I don't get to respec whenever I want 😅

Well. More importantly. Having 90 strength is passed the Soft Cap. The difference in damage on the Golden Halberd if he'd put 26 points of that strength into Dexterity would've been substantial.
Yeah, pretty sure I had a friend of mine telling me the other day that the soft caps 55 for most stats in Elden Ring?

@@moosecannibal8224 Your friend may have some ridiculously bad sources, as softcaps for stats vary incredibly much. I'm glad for Larval Tears. I've done almost the exact same build before. Maxed strength out, put a lot into stamina and hit points but everything else was really low.
If he capped his Str at 66 instead of 90+, and put those points into Int or Fth instead, he could've gained access to buff spells, utility spells, and offense spells.

There are soft caps at play with the stats, so unless there are very specific damage thresholds you want to break it's usually best to stop after a certain point. It's around 80 I think for a Strength weapon specialist. Worst comes to worst, you can go find larval tears to respec.
You are correct was gifted 99 lord ruins and did my homework before spending.

Honestly with 60 is a good point to stop maybe 80 if you are really invested into a particular stat. Vigor really only needs to go to 60. After that the amount you get is pretty bad. To each their own though. If you want 99 in a stat go for it.
In my testing 60 is solid, however, it's worth going to 80 in arcane for higher status application.

He knows about soft caps, this isn't his first souls game. He maxed strength so that when people try to call him out for being overleveled or his build for being broken, he can just point to the dumb stat allocation to reign them back. He even explicitly does that in this clip. The fact that people struggle so much to see this is insane.
And to everyone mentioning the larval tears, even if he doesn't know much about them, he obviously doesn't care. It's literally his intention to waste points. His goal with the game isn't to minmax, it's to have fun and provide entertaining content for us. If he cared, he would have asked chat how to respec after "learning" he was wasting his points.
I think hes intentionally being dumb.
Jesus, get a job.
@@myerr21 Why are you mad lmfao
That is actually pretty funny if that's why he did it, I don't really watch him much so I didn't know that. I swear every single playthrough of a Souls game on the internet has some plebs complaining that the streamer/LPer is overlevelled. When anyone who actually plays these games knows that the only way you can reach the end and NOT be over levelled is by purposely wasting souls. Even just the souls you get from boss kills alone is usually enough to keep you at pace with the enemy scaling, and there's usually a bonfire right after every boss so you're not likely to lose those.
I'm just questioning why he doesn't level endurance. It's like he needs all that vigor because he's not actually able to wear any armor. And how many times can he even swing his sword?
Genie gives you three wishes. Asmongold first wish, " I wish I was strong."
“Level up Vigor”
-The Act Man
lmao dude didn't know he can buff stat without leveling up
Vigor, endurance, STR, DEX and some faith. Best mix for dual anything that can attack somewhat fast and apply all kinds of debuffs.
The giant autonomous boulders drop larval tears when defeated, respec as much as you want.
And riiiiiight there. You can see his soul leaving his body.
That's okay there is a reset npc.
Imagine if he took away 40 levels from strength and put it in faith, and put 18 levels from vigor to FP and stamina.
It depends on what he personally wants his build to be but I think the optimal play would be to respec such that his faith is at 50 or 60 and his strength slightly lower, then move the remaining stats mostly into endurance and a little into mind so he can take advantage of incantations, but I think vigor should be left untouched. If he doesn't want to use spells then funnel all of it into endurance after equalizing faith and stamina.
And he's only been getting like 1-2 extra points into his damage anyway haha
Man ignored the softcap
No he didnt, the helmet he has gives you an additional 2 points into strength. So when you see your stats on the menu, you see your stats + the buff your armor suit gives you. When you level up you dont see the buff because the buff is not your actual level. He might also have a talisman that raises his stats which might show why we see 99 on the menu but saw him go to 96 in the beginning of the video. Theres a bunch of things that factor into your build.
Lmao literally every single point past 80 is wasted, hell, he should have stopped leveling strength at 60 and put those points in faith instead.
The diminishing returns on scaling past a certain point makes it very ineffective to try and max out a stat.
There's a soft cap and a hard cap, among a few other factors.
Unless your weapons scales exclusively with Strength, you're better off putting a few points into whatever the second and potentially tertiary scaling stat is.
The lower the stat, the more impact putting points into it has.
thanks

In Elden Ring you can go past the hard cap (99) for Strength.
Even when you two hand a weapon with 99 Strength it would effectively increase your damage as if it was 148.5 Strength , while only showing 99 strength on the stat page.
Negative, that's a multiplier on strength. Once your actual char sheet shows 99 you're done. You can only get the bonus for two handing.

Quick Tip: Like most Souls games, stats have a soft cap. At 60, most stats have much lower increases past that. Including with strength, it is usually more worthwhile to spec that somewhere else.
You are half correct. In elden ring, there is 2 soft caps for damages stats (Strength, Dex, Int, Faith and Arcane) : 50 and 80. Never go over 80.
@@xReifox it's also semi dependent on what you're scaling. Dragon Communion seal, for instance, soft caps its incant scaling at only 45 arcane

That was when Asmon learned about diminishing returns in stats

But only leveling your starter Pokemon is a pretty good strategy imo
IMO, pushing past the soft caps isn't worth it until it's the only thing left to do. A lot of utility or damage can be found in every other stat at that point.
At 66 strength you reach the hard cap of 99 while 2 handing since it's a 1.5 multiplier and you reach the final soft cap for strength at 80 so really he's been wasting a lot of levels for very little or no damage
Edit: My knowledge on Dark souls made me assume and you know what they say about assuming. Seems like they changed the Hard cap for two handing so it scales all the way to 99 and past it and for elden ring, but I would still say any point above 80 is a waste since you gain so litle after that new softcap
false the 2h bypasses all caps in elden ring that is only true in older games
in elden 120 is a cap for 2handing. meaning you can go up to 80 str.
@@charlesdortch4213 you can bypass the caps all you want the result will still be you spent 30 levels on gaining 10 damage instead of doing literally anything else
It was like that in all other souls games but since Elden Ring there is no more 99 hard cap. With 90 Str + 2 handing you have effective 135 Str scaling
@@charlesdortch4213 This might be true but even mentioning it in reference to Asmond's playstyle is wasted since he is Powerstancing anyway. He won't benefit from the 2h bonus so anything over 60 str is better off spent somewhere else. I know the final soft cap for str is at 80 but the returns you get for weapon damage after 60 are so small that pushing 80 is legit only useful if you plan on spammin incantation with a seal that scales off str. So 39 levels are completely wasted in this build since all he does is hit shit. He could easily be doin 1.5x the damage he does now with those 39 points in Dex/Faith.

Going above 80 is still a waste, but Yes, the cap for str when 2 handing isn't 66 anymore
well, it does, but the increase is so low that isn't worth it, just pump the spare points into the secondary scaling stat for your weapons and get like 5 times more dmg per point instead, he level strenght twice and got like 1 extra dmg on the main hand and 3 on the off hand

If he dual wields his weapon, the game still multiplies 99 strength by 1.5, and it still buff his weapon stat scaling as if he had 149 strength even though it isn't possible to have a stat that high
The default hard cap (used by almost all physical damage) is 150 in Elden Ring (unlike Dark Souls trilogy where it is 99) so he is fine
The game generally wants you to put 30 into one stat and 50 into the other. Running a Bleed Build? sure that 99 arcane increases your bleed but your weapon will do rookie numbers if you don't have something in DEX. Running a Faith build? Any weapons you use that spec to faith will do much less damage if you don't point up STR or DEX. Running a pure INT magic build? You only need 70 int bro, get some damned health.

@@Dalziel45 it depends on the weapon in hand. I use weapons that have A scaling in strength. There's A B C D, and it can scale with any Stat. If you notice there's numbers for all 6 armament slots, those numbers depend on what you've equipped into those slots.

He's been wasting points since level 60 strength. Strength and dex have a soft cap of 60 after that, there's no real sense in leveling up either. They barely increase your damage output after 60.
Idk, mine still hasn’t stopped upgrading by one every time, all my other stats only upgrade by one as well only strength still gives me more resistances when I level it up
Well the hand of malenia needs 80 dex, after that you gain just 1dmg every level
Who's gonna tell him he's been wasting them the past 30 strength levels
Nova did this shit with intellect. Called himself a glass cannon more glass than cannon.
he looks like a distant relative to linus tech tips to me
How you can play that much in video games and still be that bad? That's crazy talent.
I never understood why streamers always feigned being stupid until I had kids and realized I did the same all the time to get laughs out of them. Twitch viewers are basically children and can be manipulated as such. :D
I can smell this dude through this clip..
at least he put points into vitality
atleast he can now take that ugly af hat off
He only took it off after he beat the game lol.
"Is max strength a good build".... Considering you're WAY over softcap your "warrior is the best class" meme doesn't work here bud 🤣
Nothing a trip to Renalla can't fix
That's some challenge run right there.
Soreseal is overrated you can't change my mind.
It's worth the stat boost if you intend to pvp at low levels but other than that not worth it.
It's a mid game item, not intended for full builds. You use it to bridge stat requirements that you don't have the runes for yet.
i had soreseal equipped through my entire first playthrough and didnt even stop to think about the extra damage bc i was playing str build with big armor
true, exultations, the rotten winged sword insignia and the turtle talisman (found in limgrave) are the best talismans in the game imo
Someone is scared of that extra damage taken. You can't change my mind
Asmon wishes he was smarter, should have invested some actual levelup points into intelligence as he was growing up, instead he put it all into strength.
Someone's salty
Interesting, considering dude is way more intelligent then most.

@@andrei-cezarbleaje5519 it took you only 8 months to come up with that.
Not like you can't just respec in 1 minute using one of the dozens of laval tears.
Time for that Larval Tear
I just started Elden ring yesterday - already 4 bosses down, and I'm level 21. It's actually easy as fuck - I've only ever died from falling. I got a mod called "Elden Ring Trainer" and set it to "God mode", because that's the hardest setting for the game. But even with that, I've been absolutely rolling! I don't even wear any armor - just have all points in strength and dex. They need to release a harder game.
Yep game is very easy if you know what you do and have played past souls games.
There's many people who do 20min speedruns or lvl 1 / no-hit playthroughs
Sure bud
@@mfsdmer9665 I think you missed the joke. "Trainers" are a common term to talk about standalone cheat programs that you launch on the side and that can inject all sort of cheats, usually infinite money / damage / health; this sort of things.
In this light "God Mode" is obviously an "infinite HP " toggle option
Lol
@@mfsdmer9665 "There's many people who do 20min speedruns or lvl 1 / no-hit playthroughs" Yeah but they probably put in no life hours into the game, or are a small minority of gamers who just stick out in terms of skill. Also i have played past souls games too and this game is far from "very easy" as the combat design of bosses is mostly different compared to previous titles.
