His name is Uub. He's the reincarnation of Majin Buu (Kid Buu) and the student of Goku. They met each other since the world martial arts tournament.
Saying kid buu makes more sense cause people usually refer majin buu as the fat buu
Uub was Goku's student who he has been training for 5 years. GT takes place 5 years after the time skip at the end of DBZ which is another 5 years after the Buu saga (Super takes place between those 5 years in the canon btw).

GT's a sequel to DBZ. Although differing sources say different things (and it's likely the writers didn't have this exact number in mind when working on the show), GT officially takes place 5 years after the end of Z.
Yeah if I remember the English dub states 10 years. I still find it weird that Bra is taller than Pan even though she’s younger.
Sequel when the writer only made some character designs. More like non canon milking series just like Super is trying to just involving Toriyama a little more for basic outlines except the movies.

People are saying skip the first few episodes and I disagree. They are pretty slow for sure yea, but if you're gonna experience GT then you have to experience all of GT, the good and the bad. You can't give the show a fair opinion if you only watch the good parts.

@@haseebahmed814 Yea, he (Aimin) watched all of DBS and arguably the first two arcs (the movie retellings) of that show are just as bad or even worse than the beginning of GT because at least the beginning of GT ends faster (less episodes). Also, GT has more consistent animation and art so it isn't as jarring as some parts of Super.
I like both shows btw, they both have huge flaws but I still enjoy them
The ending is epic one of the best things from gt
So the time placement of GT is this was the original sequel AFTER Z before Super came in, you probably didnt see bit at the end of Z, years after the Buu Saga, another World Martial Arts tournament happens and Goku meets Uub, a reincarnation of Evil Buu or something, then abandons his family to train him, and in that timeline the pilaf gang never made the wish to be young again so they're hella old now

Gt basically happens after the end of Z. You should rewatch last episode of Z to know Uub (buu reincarnation) and first ever Pan reveal. End of Z happens after "some time" after the death of kid Buu. The reason Pilaf gang is old cuz in Super they become way younger cuz of dragon ball wish (im not sure). Also watch opening in japanese, its so goated

The problem with GT is probably the first one-third with the search for the Dragonballs in the Universe. What should've been a call back to the original Dragonball, wasn't very well executed. After that, the story finaly gets good

@@Anthyrion I forgot in the japanese version maybe it's a dub error. That being said the black star balls don't make sense either. Kami was not even Kami when he created the balls. Only thing I can think of is that it's not an requirement to get the knowledge to make Dragonballs. But the whole concept is off.

Uub is the reincarnation of Majin Buu. In the last moments of the Fight on Elder Kai's world Goku made said something to the effect of wanting to fight Kid Buu again while disintegrating him with the Spirit bomb. The Dragon heard that and assumed it was a wish. During the next Tournament, Goku Fought a Young boy from a poor village. Goku found out that he is Uub the one he wished for and after their fight took him on as his apprentice. GT is about 5 or six years later.
Well Goku wished Kid Buu could be reborn as someone good. The dragon didn’t do it, it was King Yemma who reincarnated Kid Buu as Uub.
For some reason Aimin didn’t watch the End of Z from what I know.

That's the issue with GT being watched as a separate series. It was intended to be watched after Z with no break, almost as one show, with no recap or explanation.

You should watch DBGT in the japannese dub. It´s better then the english dub and the music is different from the two dubs.
So the character in the beginning training with Goku is Uub. You meet him in the last couple of episodes of DBZ…which you haven’t seen if I remember. Unless you just didn’t post a reaction to them.

Never thought I’d see something GT related again. I mean, it’s been a hot minute since I watched this series, like 5 years long.😅
GT is supposed to take place 5 years after the final chapter of Dragon Ball, which itself I think was set 10 years after Majin Buu's defeat. So all in all, it's been 15 years since the Buu arc. I think the English dub of GT changes the amount of time passed to *10 years* (for a total of 20) for some reason, though.

I know they’re teens now but that doesn’t change things as Mai is still way older and doesn’t even seem to like Trunks back (thankfully). I’m sure this will change in the future though 😩

But people who watch the Dragon Ball OG know that this is a forced controversial relationship. I do not think they will change it sadly. I will be happy if they breakup their relationship and give Trunks a new interesting character in her place.

Forgot to ask you to watch The End of Z arc where Goku meets and fights Uub in the tournament and watch Dragon Ball: Path to Power before watching DBGT. (Path to Power is a remake of Dragon Ball, btw.)
Aimin GT takes place a few years after the last episode of Dragon Ball Z which makes more sense than Super since Uub is seen throughout GT and was mentioned in Super but never seen on screen.
People hate on GT for no reason but everyone can agree that the ending is the best and most saddest ending you'll ever see from Dragon Ball.
GT gets more entertaining once Super Saiyan 4 is introduced
@xxk1ngxsa1ntxx73 they hate on it first because is non canon (there are a lot of people that even shit on the DBZ movies for not being canon too), but in a fair point, the plot of GT is a mess, starting whit the black stars dragon balls;
How is that they know that those balls go around the galaxy if those balls never got used? because if they where used that means the original namekian before splitting into kami & piccolo had to go and search them across the universe to stop the earth to explode, but he never knew he was a namekian / E.T. and also didn't know how to pilot his own namekian space ship.
And that is just one of the first issues on this plot, but regardless, I liked the concept of traveling for adventures again like original dragon ball, but seriously the Toei writers messed it up a lot

I feel like they should've had it where he slowly de-ages as time progresses since it's the black star dragon balls which would've forced more side characters to shine the threat facing Goku would be him eventually turning into a fetus
It has its parts of awesomeness. It's worth the watch if you've never seen it. I personally enjoy it once in a great while. Every 4-5 years, whereas I watch OG and Z every year, a year and a half. But now when I watch, I watch reactor's like yourself.
