Ha ha, fourth ZD Raptors video review I’ve seen in a week that blew it’s differential ... including my own 🙂 So much potential ... really loved it ... but with those diffs they are useless. Don’t think there is any point in replacing it with another of those standard diffs. It will break immediately again.
I might purchase one of those trucks. Is their a better diff I can get to replace the original one with ?
Would putting silicone / glue in the diff fix the problem?

Quick little bugger. I like the fact that the esc and receiver are seperate so it's easy to replace if needed. Like you stated it handled the absue very well. Just that one shock liked to come apart and the differential.
I had the buggy version of this is was awesome. Apart from the fact the plastic drive cups broke every time and then the plastic gears inside the diffs broke

romeo, justin, and mrslanger89, out of the box i completely agree, but its a beautifully engineered thing for the very serious modder/ enthusiast, by next year there will be people out there running full race 80cc upwards etc in them, and even huge brushless systems, the longer they are out the faster people will be making them go, its a niche product just suited to the few i guess :) but yes personally i wouldn't need one either (infact i dont have any rc cars i just fix my sons these days lol)

I have 4 zd racing trucks 1/8 and they other 3 1/10. I have found that they often come shimmed incorrectly, 2 out of the 4 weren't shimmed correctly. That said after simming the one's that weren't shimmed correctly the ran awesome. The zd ztx-10 has a 3660 3900kv motor and the diffs take it like a champ even though it's may to much power for the light weight truggy. It wheelies like crazy, but it's a lot more fun when it's does over 50mph hahaha

This is on sale from $159 to $91, but you’ve never tried a 1/16 slash 4x4 non vxl. It’s only $150-$170 depending where you buy it. But they are little tanks. My friend got one and he pushes it hard but it never breaks. And then I’m sitting over here with a 4x4 vxl that needs a ton of parts (but I always put new stock parts so it’s kinda my fault)😂
I reviewed this last week it is a shame it has so much potential! But the metal and plastic diffs are the main let down! Gone through 2 already and I have only taken it out twice. I do have another but I know that will strip ASAP. Defo needs the all metal upgrade.

Wonder if its simply needing shims in the diffs & perhaps some adjustment too the oil shocks so they hold together better.

You should try out the RIP max husky. That thing is a little beast. It has plastic diff's but they hold up well with a brush less conversion running on 2s lipo. The only problem I've ever had with it was the body mounts snapping off the shock towers but the alloy upgrade sorts that rite out. Mine has gone head to head with my hobao hyper sste let's just say the little husky won. 🤣 not a single thing bent or broke on it yet it broke the wishbone on the sste.
Looks just like the old duratrax mini quake except its brushless. Loved that little thing sad when it went to the wayside. Thats the name of the RC game anymore tho. I base all my new buys on longevity and parts support/ sharing. More fun for longer!!

Hey Kevin. Found you the metal diffs. I found it on Gearbest. But im sure bangood, aliexpress probably have them as well. Cant post external link, or youtube spam filter will spam the whole comment, so instead a couple extra steps.....
Look on Gearbest, and search

I think that J-B Weld SteelStik Epoxy Putty might be able to permanently fix that bad diff! If I can buy one of these 1/16 scale ZD Racing vehicles that shares the same chassis cheap enough I will make a video about how to permanently fix this RC vehicle!

The ZD racing factory, doesn't take any care in shimming their diffs, they're great cars, but when you get them you need to shim the diffs yourself. So they're not really RTR if you want them to last.

It's got metal ring and pinion gears on the outer of the diffs but inside is cheap plastic gears inside the diffs

I got similar looking diffs in a small rc car on 3s and it takes the abuse just snaps drive shafts instead I'm pretty sure u just got a dodgy one
