The 58 and 60 fords are the rarest post war fords. The 58 model was criticized for being styled by comitee, but I've always liked it. Cleaned up and running,it would get alot of attention and turn alot of heads. When you do see a 58,its usually the skyline retractable hardtop convertible. Thanks for showing it!

Nice to see this dusty old ford, thanks for showing it to us.
In the comments. What a bunch of grippers! Not everybody is an accomplished content provider who does professional quality videos. This is a guy who has a nice old barn stored and now quite rare original 1958 ford fairlane 500 2 door hardtop in very good cosmetic shape and chose to show us all the car. I for one am happy for the opportunity to see this nice old car and enjoy what he has shown us. He is not a big time CZcamsr and is not very familiar with the quirks of this car. so I can understand his not knowing what to do to open the hood and also not producing a well lighted video. We got a good story on the car and a chance to see it. It’s all good.
Thanks for showing us the car! It’s a neat old car. Should clean up very nice.

That could have been said about almost every full sized American car. The manufacturers were selling longer, wider, and more powerful cars in the late 1950s and no one cared because gas cost 25 cents per gallon even in places like New York City.

I got one when I was 18,2 door hardtop like this one. California body, very solid. Rebuild a 428 put 3 duces on it with a 4 speed. Fastest vehicle I ever owned. Smoked the clutch and left it sit till I was 62.Pulled out of the shed for sale. 6,500.Couldnt get it so I fired up the 428,and pulled it out. Put a 360 with the 428 intake and carb,3speed tranny and drove it and sold it for 4,500.

My father bought a new four-door sedan model in the fall of 1957. It was the first airconditioned car we owned, and the AC leaked on my mother's foot the entire three years we owned the car. It was not one of her favorites! Beautiful though.

I remember when they come out and many were recalled because the original 332 wedge block had a soft spot in the block and were replaced with the 352 wedge block. To find one with a good 332 in it is rare. 1958 was the first year they replaced the 272, 292, and 312 Y block engine.

This is a real beauty but in actuality the '57- '59 Fords had a life expectancy of about 3 winters in New England before they were completely rusted out. A huge embarrassment as the GM products had much less of a rusting problem.

It's really 106 thousand..... odometer readings only went to 99,000 back then and flipped back to zero back then.....looks like very used car from armrest worn thru.....so likely 106 thousand mile car.....most didn't make 100,000 back then.

Back in those days the first letter of the license plate designated the county the plates were purchased in. the other letters would designate the town. For example in my town of Zillah Washington Yakima county all local plates were EBM designating the Zillah area, EBH was Toppenish 4 miles away. With all that dust on the car this looks like it might be in Eastern Washington. The west side has the east side of the state has dust.
