    I purchased the Ducati Multistrada V4S and is the best motorcycle I've ever owned & find that I wanna ride it any chance I get, I've ever duked it out with some sport bikes & surprised myself and them by overtaking the run & while their crouched down I'm cutting through the wind in a way comfortable position. Go Ducati Multistrada V4S, can't say enough about this motorcycle.

    I bought into the Multistrada myth back in 2015 with some odd findings: the Sky Hook suspension just wanted to do tank slappies at moderate speeds; the gear indicator would wander between 1st, 2nd and neutral so the engine would suddenly cut out at the lights; the throttle maps in 1st and 2nd meant no power until 16mph then only a tickle so any old lady in a Prius could outdrag you, unless the gear indicator wandered into neutral when you suddenly got full power and wheelied into the car in front; the parts are made out of used cocoa tins, the clutch slave cylinder leaked so you had to bleed it every few weeks; when I did an oil change at 5,000 miles, the pan magnetic drain bolt had a pile of steel shards on it, the longest 3/16 inch; the cost of repairs was astronomic.
    So I got a 1290 SAS instead... which is great.

      I have a 2014 1200S Multi GT, now have 14k on the clock, zero issues (well except for the fuel gauge). I've had many bikes and looked at R1200 GS, K1600 GT, ZX14R before buying the Multi. For a 1 bike to do it all there really is nothing else that comes close.

    Woow Bob! The quality of your recent reviews are probably even more impressive than this bike itself...
    I was already a fan years ago, but the production quality you put out lately is crazy, other tubers (and even film makers) should make notes!
    Awesome job, hats off! It must be difficult to constantly improve quality what was already near perfect, we all appreciate that!
    As for the bike: I think we got to the era where bikes get premium car tech, sure its great to have all that comfort and useful add, but I am maybe a bit oldschool on this, would still prefer a bit of a lack of all comfort tech for the sake of affordability. This might be change when we get to the point where these tech will be added to mid price range bikes...

    I own one proudly and love every single aspect of it. Once I had to cover 1600 miles in less than two days on it and it felt phenomenal! It only becomes really thirsty if you spin it over 90 mph. It has an expected fuel consumption otherwise given its displacement. Love it!

    I would still like to have a more standard version with a lot less tech and things to go wrong. Cheaper price and then spec up from there. I don’t need a crazy tft or anything. Cruise control and I’d be happy. Standard suspension with easy adjustments....

    • @henrietn
      @henrietn Před 2 lety +4

      My thoughts exactly...I currently ride a 2019 cb500x. I just want a bit more power (80 hp+-) , good torque, and cruise control. I hope the new Aprilia tuareg 660 , or the Norden 901 or new honda adv bikes coming will deliver. I don't need loads of tech, just the basics and cruise control.

    • @motobob
      @motobob  Před 2 lety +8

      This is basically why I recently bought a low mileage Tiger 800. Good value, 94hp, cruise control, but doesn't necessarily have the latest and greatest. I'd swap it for the V4S if I had the money, no hesitation at all. But for now, it's all I need for motorway slogs.

    Probably the best looking adventure style around. Opinions vary exciting motors these days. Some say it isn't exciting until you have 200 rwhp, but not me. Almost every bike out there with what I consider significant horsepower (125+) has so many electronic aids and speed cameras that prevent using them all but impossible but on a race track.
    Personally I found bikes where you as the rider can fully open and you control the power more fun and exciting. I have ridden at least one over 200 horsepower bike to it's full potential (Zx1400R) and found it's distant grandaddy 1972 Kawasaki 750 a much more exciting ride with just 70ish horsepower.
    If you can truly master a 100 horsepower bike under 500 pounds on the street (not me) then I view you a rider qualified to make the step up to one of those 200 horsepower monsters for the track but it seems a waste for street riding.

  • @MrFezco
    @MrFezco Před 2 lety +1

    Having owned a wide variety of Adventure bikes, my perspective is if you ever end up well off the tarmac, the larger litre+ bikes are not the “ultimate”.
    If you’re on tarmac only this is a wonderful touring machine. Cannot be beat.
    I’ve owned Multistrada, Tiger, GS, Scrambler, Ulysses, and now a Guzzi V85tt. The latter took me all over western Canada including highest unpaved road (Grey Creek Pass) and the Seton Portage high line road - Google them. Much more capable than my previous rides. Comes with cruise and luggage too. Ya I cruise at 130 instead of 140 on the Multi but like I said I go places I’d prefer to not go on the Multi anymore.

For instance the V4 fueling in the city and at lower revs in general is atrocious, then there’s also some other less important things like finish and quality on some other stuff on the bike. No bike is perfect and their imperfections should also be mentioned in a review IMHO.

    I wouldn’t call this an ADV bike at all. It’s an upright sport tourer. This thing really isn’t meant to go off-road at all and it should really have a 17” front wheel

    So why does it leave me cold? I'm sure I'd enjoy riding one but I simply don't want that much power in an adv which I'd be doing a lot of 2 up riding on - I don'twantthe temptation with my lovely wife on the back. I'm probably also in the minority when I say I don't like the styling. The front looks too Angry Bird for me. The toys and gadgets are appealing but wouldn't be a game changer. For the record I ride a Superduke r and a '21 Africa Twin, I'll be upgrading the KTM next year. P.S. don't call me out for criticising the Ducatis looks when I ride a Superduke, it wasn't the looks that hooked me.

    there is just something wrong to me about those incredibly expensive, full of tech, and mechanicly complex machines and the idea of going on a road trip in some remote place with no clean asphalt roads. i mean i won't take this to a road trip across africa, or south america.

    There's no "ultimative" ADV-Bike, because the "Adventures" are as different as the tools.

    As an "Adventure" bike I lost interest as soon as he said 6 axis something or other. A tour de force no doubt, but not my idea of a bike I'd want to be somewhere remote on when it all goes wrong (-:

      As I said I don't think it's the most off-road biased adventure bike by a long stretch, but I also think that a lot of what you're seeing is a result of the awesome stabilisation on the gopro. If the stabilisation was off it'd be shaking around with me, so my body might look more still.

    I don't get these so called ADV bikes....that power is wasted on the road and all that electronics?!...I like to ride bikes not computers and control it myself, I've been riding since 1992 and acquired a few skills along the way, tis a shame to waste all that when these bikes ride themselves...as for that gravel 'off road'...any bike will do that including sportbikes. As for the question being is it the best adventure bike, dunno, I've just rode 660 miles in 2 days on a speed twin and loved every minute of the wind in my face!

    The BMW have a ugly engine the cylinders are out on eatch side it is down for me and the prices on spear part is insane, and to the KLM the front and the lights is so bad looking that i don't have word for it and it looks cheap the whole bike. The Ducati is looking good and it is a nice TFT screen and engine don't need services all the time it is for me a number 1 bike. I am for the Vs2 but maybe i look on the V 4 shal buy a new bike this spring so we se :)

    Want the ultimate adventure bike then get a DR650 or DRZ400..................you are just reiterating marketing bullshit. People who go on 'real adventures' usually end up with one of the above two.
