@@bippo8901 I disagree, to doge hellcannon you keep going in a direct line, but at 45 degrees outwards. if you are about (i think) 70 speed you can dodge.
Hey Legend, thanks for featuring my Doomstack, I know Fimir aren't good compared to Mammoths. I just wanted to try it out since they now have regen, wondered if that made a difference but yeah it was an uphill fight against the Empire most of the campaign, I used Dark Elves to do most of the heavy lifting for me.
As for me fighting the Dark Elves? I don't have to, I won the campaign shortly after I sent you the save. I beat Warriors and got the upkeep reduction then made a couple of mammoth stacks and took 3 capitals owned by Skaven, that was all I needed to win the short campaign.
Well done and dont get sad about Legends harsh ratings, i mean he is always harsh, if he himself created the perfect doomstack and had to evaluete it he would start by berating the idiot who sent itXD
Your doomstack made for excellent entertainment. Both gameplay and Legend's commentary was excellent. A win in my book, even if the score wasn't great. 😁🤘

I have an unrelated question about Norsca: when does the Chaos invade in Norsca campaign? I've got to turn 180 but Archaon still didn't show up. Also I've noticed that when I try to start new Norsca campaign I can't choose the difficulty for Chaos invasion, so I think it just disabled for some reason (may be my mods)

Is Norsca the worst race? They are pretty bad, but I'd still say Warriors of Chaos are worse because they don't have any real doomstack besides shaggoths. And that's really only worth doing with Big Boi. Norsca can have multiple mammoth stacks.
@@jerubaal101 I guess it depends on how you rate it as I don’t use doomstacks as I’ve only done it once (Minotaur and gorgon with Taurox) and I found it rather dull after the first couple battles. I absolutely love the start of Norsca campaigns where you are hunting down all the rival chieftains but once you have all of Norsca I find it drops off rather quickly as everyone on the planet declares war if you for no reason and then you get invaded by breatonia, Naggarond and the empire at the same time.
@@dalorasinum386 that doesn't matter though. You don't play norsca by staying up in those shithole territories and defend them, you're supposed to travel the world and colonise key locations, operating like a semi-horde
@@jerubaal101 Overall yes. Warriors of Chaos may not be amazing, but being able to at least recruit stuff while on the move is actually really helpful considering that Norscans can't do that.
I kinda wish that they had something like the Vampire Coast in that at least the LLs were a pseudo horde

Yeah, really didn’t like that. Being dismissive of parts of the game (he also was dismissive of mods in the past, even after playing SFO campaigns, chaos has so much improved since then) isn’t really supportive when they are a huge part of it.

@@janys6502 No I mean the actual mortal empires mode not preset battles his battle knowledge and unit comps are good im sure but he won't beat another player in Mortal Empires relying on these exploitative cheeses Edit: Alot of his strats involve exploiting some part of the ais functioning (drawing troops deeper into the city so the ai takes heavy losses streaming them in which would never work on a competent player for instance) or beating a 20 stack with just Archaeon

I'm kinda surprised that he went so hard on the ice troll doomstack, I would have thought that the Wurrzag Stone troll doomstack had changed his outlook on that somewhat
But that is with Wurzag leading it and his own buffs. Caster lords tend to do better overall than a melee lord. At least in how Legend does his rankings.

@@paulkersey3042 true. Though, the stones are more tankier, or at least last long enough not to break. At least compared to Ice trolls. On top of a super weakness to fire, which is common these days.
@@paulkersey3042 Stone Trolls are by far better then Ice Trolls. Stone trolls have better resistances, armour and don't get extra weakness to fire (other then -25% from having regen). With Ice Trolls, that weakness stacks up to like over 40%. That means that even with that extra 15% from faction they are still weaker when attacked with fire. Also, Wurzag is better at boosting his trolls then Throgg. Wurzag actually gives them 25% phys resistance so it's better then Throgg with his faction bonus. Not to mention Greenskins get scrap upgrades.
@@Mithguar Those are some damn good points, I completely blanked on the scrap upgrades and those things are considerable gives them something like 25% weapon damage.

I remember playing warhammer 1 before norsca was added, then I took a break and came back to play warhammer 2 and norsca was the first race I played. I saw these badass fimir warriors with armor sundering and high damage and couldn't wait to get them in my armies...I immediately disbanded every fimir warrior I had after the first battle I used them in 🤣
Legend you should check out the fimir warrior page on the wiki, under "strategy" they wrote...

Probably multiplayer players. Both units are great in a multiplayer setting where mobility and anti-large is practically manditory.
@@azeon562 Yeah, that's something that is omnipresent and confusing. Not knowing if someone is talking about MP or SP, since they are very different beasts. I think most commenters focus on MP, and that creates confusion. I've seen people ask specifically for SP advice, and be given advice that's good for MP. :D
@@azeon562 Not really, Fimir were once fantastic in MP but then they got their price nerfed to the point of being useless. A 1250 Fimir GW is a steal in MP, a 1450 Fimir GW is a rip off.
@@azeon562 If that's the case, and I have doubts, they don't need to be writing anything on the wiki unless it's labeled as pvp info. This is primarily a single player or co-op game with only a small fraction of people that play pvp so any info on the wiki should be campaign focused.

Interrestingly enough, in warhammer 1 I loved Fimirs, not because they were brilliant, but they had something interresting in the way their hp was made. I had a battle once against chaos and 1 unit of fimirs got to a third of their hp without losing a model, they eventually got to close to 0 hp(900) and still had almost all models. I dont know if they made any changes but it was nice to see them chew damage and not losing a model.

That's a great point about armor sundering, and a damn shame at that. I think, in retrospect, that the only useful armor sundering is in missile damage, and I'm not sure how many other units outside of that one Mistwalker unit have that. It's also kinda weird that most of the units that inflict armor sundering already have really good armor piercing.
I think they are meant to be mixed in with other units that don't have armor piercing. It's still hard to use. :D
if you dont cheese he game with doomstacks, its an usefull ability. In mixed armies it works very well.

I used Fimirs in my last Norsca Campaign with Throgg, I mised regular and great weapons though because I though regular were anti-infantry. The army did ok overall I think. I still replaced with Mammoths eventually but it was less urgent with that army.
Legend making fun of the watchers reminds me of the time he was given a chaos doomstack and instead of using it he made the entire army retreat and just cheesed it using Archaeon.
Archeon past vacations was in the 3 Kingdoms so it seems

Hey legend as of right now the choas faction’s (norsca,warriors of choas)best ally is actually the dark elves because you don’t get aversion from there point of view so if you give them enough gifts then you can be really good friends with alliances that one of the reasons why I won my turn 404 choas long campaign victory because they would ruin dwell my enemies settlements after I razed them.
Throgg boosts so many monstrous infantry that do different things that I think a "combined arms" approach would be better. Skin wolves or ice trolls to get after cav or missile troops, normal fimir on the frontline with their superior defense, fimir great wolves rear charging everything else. Fimir are strong on their own but they don't get the horrible regeneration buff which I think is key to Throgg doomstacking. That armor and melee defense goes a long way on monstrous units though.
Legend you're playing this "doomstack" like a Vampire skelly spam haha !
Keep in mind Legendoftotalwar you tested only mammoths be for Soft rework to Trogg and World wonder so things might of changed
Mammoths are still better than everything else, the gap between them and some other compositions isn't as high as it was, but the underlying properties of a big high health monster vs. lower health monstrous infantry are still there.

What about a mixed force based around Throgg's unique buffs? Throgg, Two Werekin, Two Balefiends (one fire and one shadow), five dual wielding Fimir, The Mist Stalkers, three armoured skin wolves, the Maws of Savagery and five Frost Troll units.

I just went to a custom battle and tested just 3 units of fimir with chieftain vs 3 units of norscan ice trolls with chieftain. Without any buffs given by throgg or his faction any type of fimir just destroys norscan ice trolls.
I used no tactics at all,quite simply had 3 units ''dueling'' each other and fimir won with decisive victory. Normal Fimir broke the trolls really fast and basically killed them whilst at half health and Fimir with great weapons absolutely smashed them,wasn't even a competition it was 49 vs 49,fimir with great weapons only lost 6 models. The trolls just don't deal enough damage and take too much of it to stand a chance,one of the units of fimir with great weapons had like 95% hp left as well while the trolls were basically dead before routing.
So by default with no modifiers to anything fimir are a lot stronger than ice trolls. Which they might as well be since they cost a lot more.
Since I was already vacuum testing units I tested normal skin wolves as well as armored skin wolves vs ice trolls and yeah nah trolls didn't stand a chance. They really require Throgg and his boosts to be effective.
I'll be honest I keep forgetting these units exist, and I've yet to see them let alone norska.

Throgg can buff Trolls to have 30% physical resistance and more of other resistances. because of his third retainer to this one troll can give all allies in range 15% more physical resistances.
so i wonder why he didn't even think of putting 1 ice troll in there.
honestly the vomit is only somewhat ok. it can be useful but only if throgg doesn't have anything but infantry to fight and its ok for hitting low armor missile units. also this stack would be better if throgg had his ancillaries because one gives skinwolves (and a werekin iirc) stalk and unspottable and the fimir one is ok. One praise for this stack i will have is the models on the Fimir didn't die as fast as most monstrous infantry would

"Chaos is a joke"... Anyone remember Warhammer 1 Chaos? What happened to that? It took me multiple playthroughs in Warhammer 2 not to panic when the Chaos Tide started.
Power creep I think. Plus it used to be that Chaos would keep spawning unless you defeated every single army in one turn, like the Huns from Atilla.

Yeah like I recently did a mors campaign and I went up against last defenders who had blessed dinos in the army I was like "ffs"... got the ambush on them and they pretty much ran in circles whilst my rats mowed them down.
@@Regnier575 that's specific to ambush battles, CA broke something so the AI are extra special there. Can't even play or watch skaven right now.
But Legend, you have to keep in mind the upkeep costs of the units when you compare them, of course an army of 18 mammoths which has almost 2x the cost of this one performs muuuuch better, obviously! :
Especially when playing Wintertooth, preferring 2 armies of cheaper Ice Trolls over 1 army of Mammoths is quite reasonable.
Doomstacks are upkeep irrelevent. The point of doomstacks are your ultimate endgame army when money is of no concern.
It doesn't matter how high the upkeep is, norscan economy is based around reducing the upkeep (percentage-wise). I know supply lines are a thing but still, it doesn't matter how expansive a single army is, you should always go for the best they can offer.
@@HockeyWerewolf sure and for some races that point is reached far earlier than for others, but when money is no more concern the games is basicly won anyway making a doomstack redundant
the economic aspect should be a least pointed out imo even if it does not change the overall rating

ice trolls deal significantly more damage. maybe the guy doesn't like horrible regen which requires a playing different at the end of battles. the real doomstack would probably be a single lore of shadows fimir, throgg, 4 of the anti-large fimir and the rest ice trolls.
the point of the throgg "doomstack" is getting war-mammoth like results on a budget and legend's said before that things like a faction's economy weigh in on whats a viable doomstack.

there's been a few rate your "crapstack" vids, the idea bein pretty well early game low cost stacks that work surprisingly well.
What's with dark elves kicking the shit out of everyone. Got a multi-player campaign going with the kid on turn maybe 115 and cult of pleasure owns all of high elf territory
AI is typically too passive if you're not playing a high elf on the donut. If you aren't there to hold their hand, Morathi has a 50/50 chance of heading over to stomp Tiranoc, Ellyrion, and confederate Khaine if she isn't stopped by Alith Anar, and he's usually fighting the delfs further north and gets overwhelmed if the sisters of twilight or Taurox don't do anything.
Fmir need a re-work they are so cool looking and they really should be better than trolls. Maybe even a FLC/DLC Fmir specific Legendary Lord( Rakka the Meargh?) that boosts them... I know CA said DLC is done for War hammer 2 but shut up and take my money I want Rakka Vs Jaego Roth Vs Pirates for a nautical DLC titled the "Mist and the Pissed"

Nowadays they dont need Fimir. There was a time when Fimir GW/Mist stalkers were one of the anchors of a good norsca MP force.
