When I was a kid, there was a store with a Final Fight arcade cabinet around the corner from my house. I used to love going and beating the crap out of dudes as Cody. Dressed up at Halloween one year and loved explaining who I was. Final Fight rules.
One of my fondest memories is directly related to Final Fight too. My mom used to jam on the old SNES and she knew I had trouble beating it. One night, after I went to bed, she beat it and left the game on “The End.” She knew I’d come down the next morning and see it first thing...and then proceeded to lord it over me that she beat final fight and I didn’t. I was so pissed,
That's impressive considering the SNES game can wear you down pretty fast.
SkrataNe I used to watch her play through Dragon Warrior NES. Nintendo in the 80s man...it’s probably why I love rpgs so much.

All I know about this entry is that Maki shows up in CVS2 and her intro animation with Yamazaki is the hypest
I like how Maki's backstory in the Japanese version and the Western version are almost polar opposites

After her dad Geese Howard died, Eliza went and joined Mad Gears to find Terry Bogard and take him down. At least thats my headcanon.
It's a cool game, but I miss the sprite sizes from the original. Andore being the same height as Maki, more or less, and Rolento being shorter looks a little odd. Still, you are right about the detail being nicer.
I would’ve preferred Maki over Seth.

Have you tried Final Fight Alpha? It's a fan game that has like 12 characters, not half bad.
I freakin' love all Snes final fights, I just wish that they had ported FF 2 and 3 to other systems.
Nintendo had that exclusivity deal Final Fight CD was boss on Sega CD I can only imagine what the sequels could have been on Sega Saturn or Psx
Between Final Fight and Splatterhouse, what's the deal with arcade beat 'em ups getting console-exclusive sequels? I'm sure the fans appreciated having purchasable, accessible follow-ups back in the day, it's just always weird seeing the graphic quality drop after the first installment.

This was pretty funny. I'll check out more of these. Fun "fact" or rather suspicion. The music for the first portion of the Italy stage sounds a lot like the song "Rumors" by Timex Social Club. Check it out and you'll see what I mean. Lol. Thanks for posting these are always a delight.

I feel ashamed that I recognize the Maki art in the thumbnail.
I dunno, I always considered this chapter the worst of the original trilogy. Looking back, Streets of Rage 2 was just a better game overall at that time, this just felt uninspired and really cheap sometimes. The music was horrible (Final Fight 3 has the best music and gameplay in my opinion), the graphics were dull and the censorship really ruined the game for the West.
Just so you know, before you ask me:
Final Fight 1 Arcade Version = Streets of Rage (both excel in something that the other doesn't)
Final Fight 2 < Streets of Rage 2 (the latter was just on everything a better game)
Final Fight 3 > Streets of Rage 3 (The western version of the game was just harder and censored for no reason)

Yes Final Fight started it all. They need to go back to where it started the huge detailed sprites or take that hand drawn style like SOR4 it’s as important as SF2 it started it Street Fighter 89 originally
