Watching the game right now against Detroit and I don't know if I can say I've seen Colorado play so fast and so true to their identity this season. I've always liked RyJo since he came into the league but he didn't fit the mold in Colorado. Crazy how the lines are rolling so much better already and Mittelstadt isn't even in the mix yet.
Sabres fan here. You’ll like Mitts. Plays hard. Really good on the boards. Smart player. Sees the ice well and a good passer. What are we getting with Byram?
my main concern with Byram is that he has been injury prone. Hopefully he is beyond that. He has great potential and the Avalanche will miss him. The Sabres are getting a good defenseman with stanley cup experience.
@@user-lt3td9dv5zConcussions I see. Always concerning. Mitts battled injuries early in his career but he’s been healthy the last year and a half and really came into his own. Thank you.
Certainly has top four potential, very likely top pairing potential when he's 25 or so if he keeps improving. Excellent skater, excellent passer, has a great shot but he didn't really use it this year which was constantly frustrating to watch. Has zero physicality. Great defensive and offensive awareness, and he clearly learned from Toews how to stick check deceptively, and how to be physical without actually being physical.
How is his Faceoffs?
@@marcparsons8188He’s not good on faceoffs.
Could someone please let me know the best way to see Avalanche games through Xfinity?

Holy shit
This dude asking “Is he an upgrade over Johansen” literally had me spit my water out of my mouth laughing 😂
Great moves by MacFarland and he just redeemed himself to fans that were questioning him for the ho-hum moves at last years deadline and for the swing and a miss on RyJo. Today was an absolute masterclass and the fact they still have $4.9M to work with if they want to make more moves was brilliant. Effing BRAVO 👏
Why is everyone stuck on Giorgiev? They could buy a starter with their cap space plus trading the goalie they have. I don’t get it.
Georgiev is super good when he’s not relied on to play almost every game and when the defense doesn’t play like garbage in front of humy
Walkers year he's having is miles Better than Byrams this year, plus he plays PK, brilliant dual moves
It’s definitely an under estimated move man so happy with today was jumping for joy
Can someone explain to me why the Avs couldn't have simply put Johansen on waivers, since that's exactly what the Flyers have done? Where does the valuable first round pick get thrown in when Colorado could've simply put him in the minors to get his cap hit off the team..? Somebody please shed some light on that !
They essentially gave the flyers a 1st to take Ryjo. It’s getting that cap off the books.
Waiving him wouldnt shed all his salary, most of it would still stay on the books
It all ties up with the Mittelstad-Byram trade. Thats the center piece. Because they had to give up Byram they had to get a legit D back from some where. Propably Phi had many trade proposals on the table for Walker so Col had to top it. So Col was ready to give first pick to top the others BUT Phi had to take RyJo of Avs books as "useless" player as Mitts was coming. And getting the salary roof gap bigger for possible forth coming trades before trade deadline. The big picture isn't sealed yet. If I understood right the Walker trade was revealed first to put down the fuzz why Byram was traded away.
Finally Avs got rid of Johansen. Never really liked him from the get go in Avs. He was a high prostpect once upon but some kind of remained on only promising level. In Avs he did not fit at all! The idea of Mitts as 2nd C in that team feels way better from get go. I hoped that this would be one of the scenarios of bunch that happens. Despite Annunens elevation of level last few games I would like to see MAF from Wild for ex. as backup. On the other hand I have a feeling that Giorgiev is kind of Kuemper vol.2. Not an exelent but good enough to win goalie. Little overrated. Hope I'm wrong!;) Walker i hope continues the hype and fits Avs game style. Ice time will decrease but can be for the better too...
freed up cap space gear up baby somthing bigger is coming
Giving up Byram is so stupid that they might still laugh next year in Buffalo about that. Isn’t the truth behind Mittelstadt that Henrique preferred the Oilers over the Avalanche, that’s at least what is being said here in California. But, in the end, Mittelstadt is no proven 2c for the playoffs, neither is Walker for the defense. Byram won the cup with the Avs all the way, why not giving up Girard, who is more expensive, probably no one wants to pay the hefty $5M for a short, average d man. I am very, very disappointed in these trades, especially giving up Byram, which, looking back in a few years, be one of the dumbest moves ever made by the Avs. For the playoffs, they only got weaker, as you replaced to playoff experienced players with two nobodies in the playoffs. As usual, the Avs make dumb moves and have probably lost the playoffs before they started.😢
Ryjo did next to nothing, so i dont even consider this a loss at all. I see these two trades as gaining mittelstadt, and swapping out a d-man.
The swap of the d man as far as quality goes will play out, but tue avs made a decision on Byram when the extended toews. He was getting moved before the start of next season. So if it enabled an upgrade at center, it did, and made space for another move, it has, I struggle to be mad. I hope Byram becomes a top line d man, but he never would have gotten that shot in Denver
When you look at the market, this deal was literally the best one out there. Better than Henrique
Thanks for the laugh 😂
