    Get on the stall a bit, get the RPM around 2k and the launch would've been more favourable :) but they're very heavy cars, especially compared to a JZX100. Also the a34 autos in these are incredibly strong, and also respond very well to modified valve bodies (shift kit). I used to have a wagon JZS171, loved it, except for the electrical gremlins isolated to the wagon model in particular....

So I had to unplug a heap of shit back there....but there was still a battery drain elsewhere. Gotta love electrics! Which the car has plenty of, and they're now starting to show their age.....my jzx on the other hand is the perfect balance of not too much electronic components. Touch wood!

    • @chappy2121
      @chappy2121 Před 2 lety

      1600kg isn't that heavy for the size of car. If you compare it to modern cars or say an e class or 5 series at the time there's barely anything in it tbh. The chaser is more of an economy type car so a different class entirely. I don't mind the gearbox in my VX ot sure if the software I'd different over the Athlete v? But will probably end up manual swapping it

    • @gnkVLCT
      @gnkVLCT Před 2 lety

      @@chappy2121 get what you're saying...but I've got a jzx100 and had a jzs171 wagon at the same time....pretty sure my wagon was noted down as 1800kg (not sure how accurate this notation was), either way, the 171 chassis feels far far heavier and lethargic compared to the "sportier" jzx100. There's a reason why the JZXs are used in "motorsport" in Japan far more often than any Crown model.

    Love these boats! someday, one day...
    About the Trans-topic: I believe the Mild Hybrid-ones with the 1jz/2jz-FSE engines did come with a 5 speed AT, according to the brochures if im not mistaken :) but out of all the crowns, this generation is deffo my favorite! and right after that is the 210 generation facelift, and all 3 have their perks, the athlete, royal and majesta, and then theres also the Chinese market model, LHD, different headlight-stylings and rearend-styling!
    However, on the Fuel Economy, it depends on how hard you wanna push these. JZ engines can be fuel efficient. I managed to get a 6 Liter average on my NA Cresta.
    And the Crown probably has the same Steering rack as the jzx100 crestas, to make it feel more boaty. however you might be able to swap in the IS200 steering rack, (xe1 generation, shares a TON of parts with the jzx, possible JZS as well) for a more sporty feeling! also, once you have driven an AT boat for a few days, you get used to it, and its actually rather pleasent
