  • What you should do if you get P2101 reduced engine power message on in your dash
In this video, I will show you what you should do if your GMC, Ford, or Chrysler goes into reduced engine power mode, or limp in mode.
In many cases, it is as easy as turning on and of the ignition switch. But from preventing it from happening again you going to want to clean the throttle body.
Here what I use to clean the throttle body.
    Brake Clean: amzn.to/2pLVrfx
    WD-40: amzn.to/2GcrJvc
    Shop Rags: amzn.to/2G9TQew
There are a few things you can do to get home and something you can do to prevent it from going into reduced engine power again. In this video, I will be working on a Jeep Compass.

Redused engine power is the most UNSAFE shit a manufacturer could have came out with.

Rocko Productions Why is it really bad ?I just got that light and I don’t know what it means

@@israelgalindo1361 because sometimes the engine will work under limp conditions meaning it will not have all the power necessary to probably get out of a bad situation like for example an intersection.

Absolutely. It happened to me on I-10 and my only workaround to get off the 18-wheeler-filled freeway was to pull onto the shoulder, turn off the engine, wait 10 seconds, and then try to get back into traffic. Then it would happen again within a minute. I pulled off and got a hotel room so I could find a mechanic. Called my sister and told her where to find my Last Will and Testament in the event it happened again.

Thank you for the video very useful info as a woman and a student I try not to go to a mechanic unless it is really necessary because they always take me for a ride and tell me it's going to be thousands even if I just go in for some brakes so videos like these save me so much time and money ! God bless

Disconnect the battery and reprogram your radio on some models, especially Honda products.

Kinda getting away from the Video. I bought 3 Throttle Bodies for mine and no change. All along the problem was a cut wire running to the Fan. It actually plugs into the right side of the fan shroud. I repaired it and it runs great. But Im not digging the crappy gas milage this thing gets so it will be for sale soon as I find something else

I got this issue today after changing the motor and transmission and serpentine belt, it showed P2101 bank 1, my car uses 2 throttle bodies and I have installed a year ago larger diameter throttle bodies than stock and I did tune it, didn't have much issue other than rev hang, but I did notice low vibration after installing new aftermarket mounts "they stated slight increased NVH)
when I used the OBD scanner it gave me a P2101 bank 1, I cleaned MAF, tighten the couplers, and double-checked everything, the car drives normally for few hours and all of sudden RPM won't go past 3000, and the engine temp and oil increased and radiator overflow tank hose started to release coolant everywhere
I can't figure it out and Nissan is refusing to work on my car because it's "modified" and they won't take any responsibility and not many work on 370z here

    • @meghandill8606
      @meghandill8606 Před 3 lety +1

For stabilitrak try wheel sensors that come with hub bearings snd yaw rate / steering wheel position sensor.. check engine scan it.. traction control is part of stabilitrsk you will need to clear the code

My reduced engine power and 100 other codes thrown at the same time like Service ESC... WERE ALL Because of Chevy"s SHITTY Battery Cable coming loose on the negative terminal. Save your $$$ MONEY $$$ Replace the Connector to the Negative post on your Malibu Battery or do what I did. I shoved a regular (Not Jumbo Sized) metal Paper Clip between the battery post and the connector to tighten the connection. Works for now. I will keep you posted. :-)

I have been told that if you hold it open with a rubber handle and light a lighter and spray hairspray at it, then it will burn all the gunk off of it. Thoughts?

Yes, this one was fixed just by cleaning the throttle body.
