Fighting games seem to do this a lot more than other genres don't they? From just having a guest character or two (Soul Calibur, Tekken, DOA) to full on collaborations (SNK vs Capcom, Marvel vs Capcom, Smash Brothers, Blazeblue Cross Tag Battle. ).

I'd love to see a crossover between KoAR and bugfixes. I gave up after spending roughly 100 hours in the game, then hit a wall with undestroyable destroyable items and wasn't allowed to progress in the game. What kind of fresh bullshit is that?

Goofy isn't too much of a surprise in a serious story, he's the Disney mascot character who was able to lead in a film about family, relationships, and the difficulty of raising a teenage son as a single father, after all. You don't see Mickey or Donald managing that. (Though maybe that's what's planned for that Mario film that we keep hearing rumours about - A film exploring the difficulties of single parenthood from the perspective of Bowser and Bowser Jr? Afterall, Bowser is being treated by Nintendo as their model parent, and used as the mascot in all their parental control features, so it wouldn't be all that off brand for him.)

Though they didn't exactly de-age him when he gained his current personality - The George Geef era of Goofy, where he had his current personality, saw him married and with a son, while Mickey and Donald? Uncles in relationships of I think undefined statuses to this day. (What happened to his wife? "She's with the stars now" is how Goofy phrases it in the episode of Goof Troop that crops up while the writers have stated that Max is intended as the same kid as in those shorts)

Would you believe me if I told you that's not even the darkest scene in the game? It's got a T rating. It gets much worse.
Whenever you think your creative idea is stupid, remember someone once said "let's do a Disney-Final Fantasy crossover where you smack people with keys" and it became the most beloved video game series of the 2000s.
It also still is one of the most inexplicable. Even _Saints' Row_ seems tame, in comparison.

Pokemon conquest is an under appreciated gem of a game. I have had ~200 hours playtime and I still haven't finished half of the game.
I wanted to get it when it came out, but I was underage and broke.
I absolutely adore Pokemon Conquest, and likewise, I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface, despite it being all I ever played as a kid. It’s criminally underrated, and I wish it had more installations. It actually sparked my interest in Fire Emblem.
Same. I first played Conquest on a rom file on my tablet, then FE7. After that I got a 3ds.

N I'm sad he didn't mention the trainers are all from the Samurai Warriors series. That seems like a pretty big detail to skim over.
Now Oxtra, Pokemon Conquest was also featuring the characteristics of the Samurai Warriors characters, considering it is a Koei Tecmo game. So it's Nobunagas Ambition, Pokemon, and Samurai Warriors. So even better.
Pokemon Conquest is an underrated gem.

I can't help but feel that tails has a distinct advantage in the long jump.
To be fair, Mario's nickname is literally "jumpman" and he's usually able to jump over 3 times his own height. I think he'll be fine.

I feel like Mario would be competitive in the high jump, but Tails would do WAY better in the long jump because he falls slower.
Also, Bowser would probably do way better than anyone in the jumping events. Just think about how massive his leaps can be in some games. Have you _seen_ what happens when you miss a mine in Super Mario 64?
To be fair, Sonic characters have a rather unfair advantage in Olympics, so of course they'd throw out the logic for this crossover, you know with Sonic being faster than sound (And in some cases, even faster than light), Tails being able to fly, Knuckles being extremely strong (with the ability to glide), also Sega Tennis let Sonic use the Chaos Emeralds (Yup, Super-Sonic in Tennis, lol), yeah..

I actually didn't know that Pokemon Conquest was a crossover until I saw this video. That said, yes, fantastic! As is Kingdom Hearts. (Suppressing recollection of Chain of Memories.)
Kingdom Hearts to me is the same as a sloppy joe. Delicious and brilliant, yet horribly messy and hard to keep track of what is what.
While Pokemon Conquest is technically a Pokemon x Nobunaga's Ambition cross-over, I'd have to recommend Koei's more known TRPG if the style interested you at all. (It's titled Romance of the Three Kingdoms, much like the books that Dynasty Warriors is based on. In fact, I'm pretty sure DW is a spin-off of aforementioned game.)

As a big Professor Layton fan, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the crossover game. Though the animation of Luke/The Professor STILL MAKES ME ANGRY.
To elaborate: If you look back at the other Professor Layton games, how the Professor/his companions are animated tends to be driven more towards 2D portraits that switch expressions depending on the mood of the conversation. However, that is kind of similar to the Phoenix Wright games so they changed it to have a distinct difference in the styles of the two sections and it just looks weird! He looks like a round rectangle now instead of our lovable rectangular professor.
I kinda wish they went with a concept they had of the Professor and Luke and everyone else being in one unified style. Tbh Ace Attorney style Layton looked good and the style disparity in the game makes me pop a blood vessel sometimes lmao. Also if the style was unified, we probably wouldn't have the problem of Layton being an even weirder rectangle person.
They basically did the best they could with two wildly different art styles. Layton's more stylized and has people that vary wildly in actual looks while Wright & Co. are still varied but closer to "anime" than anything and look more realistic, at least as realistic as any anime/manga character not from something by Naoki Urasawa can be.
They meshed well enough, especially since both series had gone to 3D models by then.
I loved the game but I wish it stayed true to its original premise: Versus. The first trailers and the final product are night & day ..
One problem I have is that the professor seems a little too competent when next to Phoenix. Especially when he teaches Phoenix how to do his job and can match Phoenix in other areas he has very little experience in.

yeah I wanted it and couldn't find a copy anywhere at that point, so I settled for emulation. Came into a game that I really loved. Good times. Would play again.
I would go on for hours about how much I love Conquest, except I don't want to type for an hour about the greatest Pokemon spin-off ever at 1 in the morn. All I can say is that it really gives Mystery Dungeon (Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky because they're a step up from Red and Blue and I never played Gates to Infinity (and Super Mystery Dungeon was shit tbh)) a good run for it's money. Only thing Mystery Dungeon has on Conquest is more playable characters. Maybe I wanna kill Nobunaga with a Mudkip, hmm? I love Conquest to death though and it needs a sequel (a good sequel, unlike that Super Mystery Dungeon waste of money)

Yeah, I saw that one... Modern Scooby Doo is just... not great. Side note, best crossover ever in anything is the Scooby Doo, Batman and Robin crossover from the 70's.

Technically that was Johnny Bravo X Scooby Doo, but yeah that was great. The weirdest part (in a cool way) of Johnny Bravo to me now is knowing that Seth Macfarlane worked on that show before Family Guy and was where he met Adam West.

Honestly a pretty underrated crossover series thats really fun is Project X Zone which mixes together a bunch of differenc series and characters with some silly moments

Pokémon Conquest is very interesting, especially when your character has Arceus (literally the god of Pokemon) as a partner and the other warlords still think they have a chance against you.

The Project X Zone games. Two crossover games between Sega, Capcom, and Namco Bandai. The second game brought Nintendo characters in like Chrom, Lucina, and Fiora. They're surprisingly entertaining and fun.
That's exacly the game I thinked of when I saw the title. Only one game can bring Mega Man, Ryu, Phoenix Wright, Lucina and more into an RPG. Also, just the concept of Phoenix and Maya fighting is hilarious.
I loved pokemon conquest, I also liked how each character had multiple stories you could jam through and then on top of that as a nice detail, the entire region is in the shape of arceus whom you meet eventually.
When he talked about poisoning a water supply I thought of Kefka from Final Fantasy 3/6. Did anyone else?

The interesting thing about Pokemon Conquest is that while it is a Pokemon x Nobunaga's Ambition crossover, the designs for the characters are based off of Samurai Warriors 3. The only Samurai Warriors game to exclusive to the Nintendo Wii.

Minor Rex I don't know the whole thing, but Oichi was Nobunaga Oda's wife (Sister.). She was always there and used marriage in order to save her family because Nobunaga had a big power. So then Nobunaga died, but told Oichi to run off. I'm not sure what that does well. But in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, there's a story part where she needs to be found and rescued along with others, ultimately going back in time to save Nobunaga and the other parties.
Ouch, poor Oichi. So Nobunaga died first, then it was Oichi.
Well, it's a story from Feudal Japan. If you haven't gotten to the part where the main character dies you haven't read the whole story.
Beating the hell outta Nobunaga as Oichi is always satisfying. :P
I spent soooooo many hours trying to 100% all of the Pokémon Conquest stories and never could. There was just so much put into it with all those varied challenges and conditions to get the Warlords to their strongest levels.
Still want to see a Fallout/Skyrim mashup, something about fighting off trolls and bandits with a laser rifle while a Vertibird goes toe to toe with a dragon overhead in a vast mountainous open world just sounds appealing to me.

The 3DS versions of of the past Mario and Sonic Olympic Games (except the first one) actually had a story mode.
They were mostly about Eggman, Bowser, and other iconic baddies from both respected series causing major trouble around the town so they could takeover the Olympics and you had to beat them via Olympic events.
I actually owned Pokemon conquest and completed it and loved that game to bits...mainly because it was my first Pokemon game

To be honest Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE# combined two franchises that somehow worked? Like they took the fantasy SRPG of Fire Emblem and the gritty turn based RPG franchise Shin Megami Tensei, and somehow implanted idol culture in there too. Even to me it is lost how this even worked.

Except it didn't work. It crashed and burned, just like it should. It ended up having nothing to do with either series and was just a huge stain on both.
it did work, it even sold better than some of the games of both franchises. The gameplay is mostly smt with the likes of strange journey and digital devil saga (it actually doesn't have much of persona unlike most people say) and has a FE story, which is crappy, just like any FE game so it isn't really its fault.
Around 30,000 in Japan and around 50,000 in the states. That's abysmal for the effort put into it. All it has are some vocal fans that are in denial of it's failure, both as a crossover and as a product.
Calm down matteste I was meaning to have a casual discussion about this, regardless of how it was revived. And when I ment worked out I ment gameplay and not story. Because in the end this was a weird weird game and that's all that matters.
The best crossover is still outsidextra with outsidexbox. The character dynamic is just too great. I hope they will never cancel these kind of episodes.

I'm absolutely amazed by the fact that the Battletoads have access to a helicopter that is capable of space flight...not only is a helicopter not airtight, it kinda needs air resistance to work.
Honestly, I feel like the first duo is a perfect match. Ones a detective and the other is the lawyer. Just like in real life, you have to find evidence before you can use it in court.

Pokemon and Resident Evil. Just hear me out. Desperate to overcome the rise of mutated animals and people (zombies), a base of surviving humans (not umbrella) catch wind of a tear through space and time that leads directly to the dimension where Pokemon exist (don't think about it too hard guys). Through superior technology, the surviving humans quickly grab as many Pokemon as they can and hightail it back through the dimensional rip to their base (you're thinking about it too hard, stop it). Through their own experimentation, they not only exploit the Pokemons domesticated and programmable nature, but inject them with an experimental drug that increases their size, strength, and neural connectivity (I said don't think about it too hard guys gosh!). With their newly acquired militia of mutated Pokemon, the final battle for the survival of civilized Earth will be waged, and there will be blood spilled on both sides. Or, will a large amount of already mutated Pokemon that are now hyper intelligent be bitten and turned, unleashing a new unprecedented threat on the world...
Ah, see? Not only does it write itself, but the sequel writes itself! Picture a gorilla size Pikachu that can rip helicopters in half and speak human languages going toe-to-toe with umbrellas most recent pet. Okay, you can think about it as deeply as you want to, this started out as a joke but I'm honestly sold on it. Someone make this game now!
