  • Hello!
    I'm so excited to be beginning a new adventure to live a more minimalist life. I've been watching some amazing documentaries, youtubers and reading some fantastic articles and I'm feeling really inspired to begin this journey to declutter my life.
    This video is the first part of a series in which I will transitioning to a more minimalist life, I'm beginning by going around my house asking myself Marie Kondo's iconic question - "does this bring you joy?"
    I really feel that our obsession with stuff is not making us any happier and I'm so excited to live a simpler more concise life.
    I'd love for you to join me on this journey, or if you are already implementing changes to become more minimalist please share with me in the comments below, I'd love to hear who's inspired you and what's helped you most.
    I hope to see you in my next video.
    Love,
    Maddy xx

    The minimalists on netflix is incredible, it’s so eye opening and really speaks about a big problem that is so normalized in society.

    I actually just did the same thing and it has been life changing. I had a baby last year and slowly through my one year of maternity I went room by room. I can say now that it is noticeably more relaxing and peaceful to be at home. I also spend so much less time cleaning. I challenged myself not to throw away virtually anything during this process. Nearly all furniture and household items I sold or even just gave away (for inexpensive items like a drugstore hair dryer) on ebay. Any of the half empty products I used up. Fortunately my husband is not picky about his shower products so he helped me use up shampoos and soaps. Now I stick to a rule of one in one out. If I want to try a new moisturizer I wait until my current one is used up before buying another. I then commit to using the whole jar before buying another unless of course I would have had a bad reaction to it or something (thankfully that hasnt happened). Looking forward to following your journey!

    I’m exactly the same, naturally messy but it’s not a trait I enjoy or find relaxing. I’ve just sorted my wardrobe this weekend and feel so much better for it knowing exactly what I have & where everything is so I look forward to following your journey to hopefully make me tidier/more minimal too

    Love this idea, however remember with the fact so many people are wasting items, keep what you have, use it, then just don't replace. Clothes / shoes / bags - maybe try depop - as someone else said - charity shops already cannot cope and a lot ends up on landfill. Good luck! I will enjoy following along.

    Hello lovely, I completely agree with you. Since following a more minimalistic and simple lifestyle I'm so much happier and content, I also have Multiple Sclerosis and it's helped so much with that. I'd recommend you check out videos by "simple Victoria" "Meghan livingstone" and Girl in Calico. They have such relaxing videos. You can smash this. Sending lots of love xxx

    One thing to consider Minimalism is causing an issue with zero waste.so many people are doing it that Charity shops can't keep up and alot goes to waste. Might be a good idea to give to specific people rather than donate. Looking forward to your journey x

      Totally agree, I've been donating a lot of stuff to my depop as well as sharing with my friends and family to repurpose things. Thanks so much xxx

    I think the best thing for environment, while on your minimalist journey, is to start using all your already bought products, and not throw full size, still full products away....that is just wasteful, not minimalist.

    • @MadeleineShaw
      @MadeleineShaw  Před 4 lety +1

      Totally, I'm definitely not going to be throwing anything away, we are really lucky in london to have loads of amazing waste reducing apps like olio where you can give items you don't need to people in your community for free, I've also been listing a lot on my depop and giving a few pieces to charity, nothing is going in the bin! x
