@@guysumpthin2974 I don't think they looked off, they just ran into a tough defense. The Chiefs offense looked "off" too, but they also just ran into our defense who was cooking for most of the game. Both defenses mostly outplayed the offenses, that's all it was.

Old guy here. Great defense bottled up George “I need a haircut” Kittle. He may have been hurt, but that’s the game. He got shutdown.
I thought the Chiefs DBs were very good defensively.
This season, and particularly this game, showed the absolute game changing combination of dominate Dline play, mobile linebackers, aggressive DBs, intricate blitzing schemes, and outstanding defensive coaching. Shoutout to Steve Spagunolo.

9ers players made mistakes. Low PAT blocker. Muffed kick off, and a rare fumble by CMC. But in the second half we were simply out coached. They figured out a way to move the ball, we did not.
The ball bounce off the heel on the kick off really shifted the momentum i felt like. Those were 7 pts KC should've never got and OT could've been avoided

For one, the Chiefs offense had not scored a touchdown in over 15 drives until that touchdown off the muffed punt recovery, so it’s very likely they don’t score on either the Pacheco fumble or the interception
You got Reid-Mahomed. They were always going to win this. Stay close, stay close and then close you out in sudden death with all the stuff in their bag theyd been saving during all those head scratching Pacheco runs for 2 yards. It's what the goat teams do. It's why Tom Brady's sb wins were all always close. Pats always seemed to just barely come out on top whether it was a shoot out or defensive grind. More of those could have been blowouts but not showing your cards until you absolutely have to(usually a final drive) holds much better odds for a controlled outcome in your favor.
@LegendaryMamba24 I'd say it was pretty likely they would have scored on that Pacheco fumble. They were only about 20 yards out. Worst case is they settle for a field goal.
Chamarri Conner was KC’s secret weapon. He was insulated by seniority this year, but they gave him the bits of exposure he needed to develop. He is a good tackler and better in coverage than I thought he would be coming out of college.
Kittle and Deebo barely showed up. Yeah, the coverage was great. But in the big moments , those playmakers need to show up.

Spags is really good. Brought guys in the box to shut down cmc. Deebo, Kittle and BA could not get open. He switched blitzes and coverages and had a spy on Brock. Spags was awesome in that game.

Actually, the Chiefs ran that exact play (corn dog) against the Eagles last year and got the same result.
A lot of the plays you showed it does look painful for him to get up. Definitely wasn’t the showing the team needed but the breakdown does help show why the opportunities were scarce.

I am a die hard Chief fan, at 66, I don't think thats gonna change. However if it did Kittle would be a sway bar. 49ers had a hellacious season to be proud of. Right now is not the future, heads up, hurt and grieve for awhile then SHAKE IT OFF, get back on that horse and come play with us again.

Well as much as everyone wants to brag about how good of a blocker their tight end is compared to Kelce it turns out that basically acting like a lineman for a lot of the game will keep you banged up. Shanahan doesn’t use him right, he shouldn’t be taking such a beating just because Kyle doesn’t wanna get a better o line. Kelce might not block as much but he acts as a decoy a lot and it’s helped his longevity. They need to let Kittle do the catching and scoring part of the tight end position if they want to keep him in the game much longer
I mean, on the 2nd and 5 in the 4th quarter the throw wasn't just a little behind him, it was just wrong. Like, aint nothing kittle can do there when the CB is on his back and he has to adjust backwards to catch the ball, once he had to turn his body towards the LoS it was over. This play is 100% on purdy not understanding the angles at that moment and/or bolton forcing him to throw it to a very bad spot
Because purdy is not a superstar and he couldn't get it to the guy he needed to .

The eye test says that the Chiefs were wilting vs the run as early as late 3rd quarter. So much so they started committing bodies to stop it on neutral downs. Jones obviously had a read on when it was a run and when it was PA so you pull out the old LT elimination guide and run the PA run to him- effectively blocking him- then take the Kittle fake block dink for 4 or 5 and then get back to run. IMO if Kittle goes 8 for 50 they win the game because he keeps them on schedule and forces the Chiefs into playing coverage not the run. As soon as they saw Cover 1 it should have been a dink pass to Kittle for 5. Honestly I am surprised that they didn’t wear Kittle or #44 out on those flats, wheels, and short crosses.

Sounds like you didn't know Kittle didn't really practice leading up to the SB so he was playing hurt and Kyle wasn't trying to feature him at all with this anemic OL as they needed him more to block.
But in a big game, just get him in check down and let him be violent. They kept targeting their best corners and trying to force it to Deebo even after he had his hamstring injury. I thought Kyle's play calling and design to go against press man was trash. Where are the bunch formations, rub routes, return routes in short middle? Keep 21 personnel and use Juice as an X factor against this D that was going to put all their attention on the feature players. Kyle didn't dictate and were played right into Spags blitzing. The stretch out of the half where they completely abandoned the run was the game for me.

Combination of factors.
Poor O-Line play. He was blanketed a lot. KC secondary switched things up so much, it was hard to tell who was doing what before the snap. KC would single anybody on SF with anybody in their secondary (and win the matchup). The one time Kittle got the ball in a good spot to advance it, McDuffie dropped him as soon as he touched it.
SF's passing game has a lot of short and behind-the-line passes, and KC was all over those short passes and screens.
I never wanna hear the Kittle/Kelce comparison again, Kelce has the greater impact on his team. He doesn’t block as much because the KC system doesn’t ask that of him as much, not because he can’t.
Gronk did both. One year he would have been the #5 run-blocking OT by PFF grade.

The player he “blocked” on the 2nd and 5 in the 4th quarter actually had a free release to disrupt the play. That’s why Purdy had to back up and throw off his back foot.
I have been in the KC area for forty years. Swift sucks and will be long gone after all the true fans remain. I suffered with the Chiefs through the terrible 80's and heartbreak 90's. I am happy for the team.

I thought that the 9ers played a great game, but I was amused before the game by two different takes I kept hearing coming from some of the 9ers fans. 1. Kittle is better than Kelce. Uh... No. 2. The 9ers were going to score between 31 and 41 points. Uh... Did you mean in the next two meetings combined? The 9ers definitely could have won that game, but listening to some of the delusions before the game just had me wishing that there was some sort of betting site set up where I could make some money off of some of these bozos.
On that first play....Kittle has 20 yards of open field in front of him and rather than run he slows down and moves toward the 2 chasing defenders....why?

He had a broken toe going into the game. This was after the nfc championship so he had time to heal, but a broken bone isn't healing in two weeks. Also I'm almost positive his shoulder was hurt as early as the McCaffrey fumble, you can see how awkwardly it gets jammed when he dives for it.

Wasn't he questionable leading up to the super bowl? I remember hearing about a broken toe or something after the nfc championship. Obviously it's the super bowl so there was never really a question as to whether or not he'd play, but maybe that slowed him down a bit.

From what i saw, they really didn't use any of the play actions that they were running during the regular season, which was their entire playstyle. I just am confused on why the ball went how it did. There was a very clear coach diff when it came down to it. Overall though, very entertaining game. Definitely Superbowl worthy.

I’m not a fan of either team, and I’ve always like Debo Samuel in terms of his toughness and effort, but on a few of these plays he looks like he’s not giving 100%. Look at the first play. Unless he knew it was a penalty, he’s not even trying to get open. I don’t think he knew it was getting called back. On that one throw his way it looked like he could have at least dove.
I know Kittle likes to block, but if he wants to win the big one, he needs to take on a larger role in the passing game.

Kittle is one of those players who play great in the regular season but fold like an old K-Mart lounge chair in the biggest game of all. He should drop his talk about his ability to "will things into existence."
Kittle is so explosive, he had 220 yards in one half one time. But Kyle AGAIN ignored one of his best weapons on his team JUST LIKE THE LAST SUPER BOWL. Someone needs to grab Kyle by the neck and shake him hard to get him out of his funk when the game is on the line. On top of that, he overrules his defensive coordinator by calling a time out that stopped the clock for the Chiefs in the most crucial moment of the game. Wilkes calls and his Defense are the ONLY part of the team that was actually performing while Kyles offensive calls & the special teams unit were having a crap game. Stick to what you know Kyle & let the adults do their job!
They had Kittle locked up all game. Him and McCaffrey are game wreckers and the Chiefs did a great job of limiting them 💯

Because of that, I’m sure he (and the Niners staff and doctors) weighed the risks and the possibility of further injury and determined he could go. I’m sure there are some injuries that would have been a no-go, partly because of the potential of further injury and partly because a substandard performance could hurt the team more than help. But everyone knows, they play a physical, violent game.
