  • Paul meets up with his good friend Stephen Hutchinson at a classic Somerley Salmon Pool known as "Woodside" on the middle reaches of the Hampshire Avon. Having landed a sea trout of 8lb's just 4 days earlier from the same pool, he thinks he has a chance of another fish. This time he presents on the dangle his new orange flying "C". Just 5 mins after loosing a fish he makes contact with a bright and deep bellied Avon Springer of approximately 15lb's. He shares some useful tips, and discloses his newly discovered taking spot. He takes you through 8 classic pools on the estate and gets up close to some avon valley wildlife - including a brood of goosander with their mother, newly hatched Canadian goslings and a bird of prey perched up on one of the power cables near the pool.

No don't have a video mancandproud and if I did i wouldn't post one like this. He means well but really come on it's not how it should be done is it. I do like being called a gentleman though -how many times was it -nearly as many times as he handled the damn fish.

Soooo long to return the fish once again. Aweful.
You can wind with your left hand when spinning, so why do you have to wind with your right with the fly rod and have to keep swapping hands when playing a fish. Really strange!

Should try fly fishing. Bait is not fishing for salmon.
