I decided to listen to this performance again today as I was wishing I could have heard Santiago playing this live several times in Germany last week and this week in Wales. What an incredible artist! He has it all and for me there is no greater cellist anywhere in the world right now.

His technique in both bow and fingering arm is perfect, it's so aesthetically pleasing to watch him play! Ridiculously talented.

Beautiful performance. What a future this young man has with all this talent. This piece is new to me and I'm in awe of it, especially knowing a bit of the story of its creation at the end of World War I... certainly a painful moment with so much death and destruction... as though humans had gone insane. In other words, not that different from right now!

Fantastic performance, Santiago. Supremely elegant, clean and restrained but not lacking feeling. So much better than the big box of sobs on a pin interpretations (not going to mention names) that are far too prevalent these days, I hear music, not self-indulgence and ego Bravo.
