Wonderful! I loved the freedom of your physical movement during the "fun" themes. Your passion, tenderness and firm left hand, excellent fingerings and bow control with the mature understanding of Elgar's ideas. A treat. Thanks for posting. The camerawork of the video, excellent audio and directing of the cameras was first rate.. I'm also a cellist and now a retired television producer/director of 43 years.
Do you feel like a cellist?
When you find left over pizza in the fridge 2:38.
In all seriousness, this was a very enjoyable performance i enjoyed all 40 minutes of it.
He is our cellist, artist in residence in the Oregon Symphony. My favorite instrument, my favorite Cello Concerto- a wonderful artist. It does not get any better than this!
Little bit of fun fact on Elgar to give you a new perspective on this piece: he was a very tormented soul. He was always out of place, he was a Catholic in a Protestant dominant England of the late 1800s from a poor family married to someone very rich. This piece was his last piece and his last statement on this world and the melody is what he wanted to be remembered by. Amazing interpretation by Johannes Moser. truly a master!
Jason Safaverdi I’m sure you took that from Zander.
Alon Ostrun Benjamin took it from me ;)
Jason Safaverdi lol, but
Benjamin Zander said that before you commented that, I just looked at the other video.
@@sageobrien6776 Zander hardly discovered that fact. However the phrasing does make me think the commenter ripped it straight from Zanders mouth lol.
@@ivan_says_hi Oh yeah, I agree completely
Moser is such a master. Complete control at all times. Wonderful
Kaspszyk is a brilliant conductor of Elgar. Watch his Enigma-the best video I’ve seen.
Link please?
Sometimes, we think that nothing new can be heard on some concerts. This outstanding cellist shows us a new Elgar, a deep understanding of his music and a master interpretation.
30:42 just tears my heart out every time, especially in this performance.
Sublime coming back.
I've been playing the cello for 30 years, started when I was 8, went to a private arts schools, and have been playing in a professional orchestra since high school.....I still struggle with that 2nd movement.
I play the Cello. I’m really thankfull i can play such a beautiful instrument! 🎻❤️
So you too have an Andrea Guarneri?
I have listened to this for 7 hours today and, because of it - could not concentrate on anything else...loved every second of it. Amazing soloist! The orchestra sounds beautifully. Thank you!
1:13 Love the aggressive pluck on the C string
exactly my thoughts
Love it... is this normal in this piece? Never noticed before...
@@samuelball2543 I've watched a lot of performances, but he's the first that plucked the c string like that.
Samuel Ball no it’s not normal.
I think one reason for that was to get the C string to start vibrating as quickly as possible?
In Bach's cello suite no. 3 Prelude in the opening phrase the first open string C2 needs such a pluck, and the reason being the need to get the C string to start ringing quickly.
I don't know if that applies here
I just heard him live this weekend in Princeton with the NJ Symphony Orchestra. He was terrific.

13:53 idk who but he definitely killed someone with that stare... O.O
Wonderful performance of the Elgar concerto, exquisite Bach for encore. Excellent production and sound. Bravo!
Starting 3:16 for a bit is to die for
Exactly my thoughts...❤️🔥
It is the sound i've looked for. It suits my soul. I know how hard to find the incredible sound for the extraordinary super challenging instrument.
Elgar had struggled to rise from his lower middle class background (and a Catholic in Protestant England)to become the voice of empire. His music embodies the majesty and nobility of that great image, to be heard time and again in his great “nobilamente” themes. But the carnage of World War I showed that nobility to have feet of clay. So the cello concerto, his last major work though he lived another 14 years, is a farewell elegy to a world that not only had gone, but that perhaps had had a hollow heart. All that sorrow, with great reserve, us expressed in this masterpiece.
This is beautiful! Thank you all.
I thought this is a great interpretation of this work, that I enjoy very much. And the orchestra is, as usual, absolutely great! Thanks to all for this pleasure.
Un concierto extraordinario!! 🎶🎻🤗... Bravissimo! 👏👏👏... Gracias por compartir!
Stunning orchestral interpretation! Bravo, Conductor Kaspszyk!!!
A great Performance! Thank you Johannes Jack and the whole Orchestra!
I have always been in love with this song. It always made me glad I chose to play the cello
This master piece touch the most sensitive soul's fibers and make me cry, so besutiful
This very performance enforced the thought of starting to learn the cello, and i am still getting goosebumps everytime i hear it
It's not a song
Love love ,Sarabande ,suite 1 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎶🎵
look at the conductors eyes at 2:38
Stunningly Beautiful, Great Filming too in HD, Awesome. Thanks for sharing
Very sensitive. Goes into our souls
By far my favorite cello concerto
I feel like the moment at 23:38 is under appreciated
Fantastic Cellist!!!
Johannes Moser is amazing!!
Hermoso!!! Ya me imagino en vivo!!!
Awesome concerto ! I love the cellist's playing.
Stunning. A stunning performance. I’ve never heard better.
Well...that was breathtaking!
Niesamowite! :D dziękuję
Insanely good
The modern companion to this Elgar classic is the haunting concerto for the same instrument from another
British composer, the late George Lloyd. I was privileged to be part of the first public UK concert performance
of this fine work here in London. A CD recording from the US company Albany Records by the eponymous US
symphony orhestra and their gifted soloist is available. Well worth exploring by any lover of the cello..
Smart performance
Love the brass. Amazing.
I’ve never heard such a beautiful Elgar!🤭
one of the few duples in triplets I've heard. Passionate. Love it.
Espectacular.
Beautiful 😢
Belíssima apresentação!
the sweetest elgar i have heard
Nevertheless it's undeniable this recording has a very appreciable sound quality
His style is very different to du pres, still perfectly mastered and expressive in its own way
It's as though he and the Cello are one. Consummate artistry, conducting and orchestra.
Moser is magnificent. I wonder if he watched Benjamin Zander’s interpretation classes on this concerto-moving and eye opening in the extreme.
Sehr schön Leistung ♫♪
Ich einverstanden!
Clarinetist is great. Nailed some parts in a Rachmaninoff piece which are seldom in tune. Great to see him here.
he is awesome!
Holy shit man, the crescendo in the 1st movement always get me
This one is the most outstanding performance ever played on the cello.
Love it!!!!!!!!!
Edit: This is not just 30 mins practice this is hours of practice.
its 40 hrs
Haha hello fellow ling ling wannabe
@@0boecase362 I would say it's 6 hours a day, 7 hours a week, 52 weeks a year

I've thought the same of those who haven't listened to Dimash Kudaibergen sing.
Bravo
Second only to du Pré’s interpretation to me. Beautiful.
9:31 Incrível
He is so handsome ❤
Bravo & Barvi!!!!!

3:51 so moving 😌

At 3:46 when the Cello hits a high E 3 ledger lines above the treble clef staff, alot of the instruments start to play in unison sounding in various octaves making each note sound resonant.

He sounds like Heaven especially when I just finished the "avant-garde" version by Sheku Kanneh-Mason... No offense.
Can you do a Elgar's cello concerto version only? Thanks!
She’d be proud.
My speakers don't go loud enough :(
Anyone else see the guy knock the music off his stand at the beginning? 😂
Part of "the unexpected" in a live performance that add to making these events memorable. I wait for
a conductor to lose grip of the baton in an energetic piece of music! 🙂
💙💛💚😉
BRAVOOOOOOOO!!!!!
2:39 meme gold.
that boy good
One of the violinists on the far left dropped his music as the conductor and cellist walked in.
