Thank you sir
I appreciate this
You are a mentor to many of us
Big thanks !
Income from Treasury bills is paid at maturity and, thus, tax-reportable in the year in which it is received.
Do you invest in these and also other ways? You know your stuff !
Rolling treasury bonds is a thought when they hit 5 percent haha
I looked at some of my dividend stocks and thought about moving money over :-)
I like how you’re not just about chasing women…just simply enjoying travel. I travel solo a lot and get great joy eating at different restaurants and going to coffee shops, I went to KL last year and found it to be wonderful and very inexpensive. Going from a $30 airbnb to a $60 airbnb is like going from
a $100 hotel to $300 in the west.
Thank you
Yes I try to enjoy my travels without that kind of stuff haha
Thank you for the room information
Right?!! I've seen some really disgusting channels where these foreign guys are just here for the sex tourism , behaving badly and disrespecting our culture. So it's nice to see someone just being nice and normal
Another valuable video to watch....Really looking forward to visiting KL and Penang in Dec 2024 and Jan 2025...looks like a lovely place.❤
Oh this is great to read!
I’m interested in Penang for later this year
Bro is dishing out alpha here..nicely done sir
You are most welcome
Have a great day
Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, all great places to retire but I don't care for the extreme heat and humidity.
I totally understand
Latin American countries have some altitude so some are cooler
There are some cooler locations in Vietnam, like Da Lat. Also some beautiful areas in Indonesia are cooler when Thailand is hotter.
Air-conditioning exists in South East Asia, too. The locals cannot live without it.
@@Truthseeker371 I know but I really enjoy sitting outside sometimes having a nice meal or a coffee. I could sit in an air conditioned mall or my apartment just about every day, but obviously it's not the same or as enjoyable. I've lived in Florida, Las Vegas, Thailand and I know I don't enjoy sitting outside when it's 90 + degrees with 90 percent humidity.
I concur. My lower risk fixed income products are paying for my life abroad. Living a very limited existence in the Las Vegas area used to cost me 2x as much as my life costs now in beautiful SE Asia. And I am enjoying myself much more than I was in The States. For example, my last Uber ride to the airport there to leave the US cost me more than my 1st 12 Bolt rides *combined* here in SE Asia. My rent here is ONE THIRD of what it was there, for a slightly smaller - but way newer - 1br condo.
This list goes on and on. Do I miss The States? Nope. I'll got back once a year to see family - who I visited once a year from 2000 miles away when I lived in the US, so it's not really any less. In fact, flying around the world to get there, I'll probably stay there a few weeks instead of 10 days, just to make the long flights worth while.
SE Asia IS A WIN by any metric!
I really appreciate this comment
Lots of good points and information
Great video - lowering your lifestyle is key.
Good point
That’s so important
And you can still live a wonderful life
Cutting back on monthly bills is so freeing too
This advice to cut frivolous spending and follow a tighter budget is a good first step even at home.
Yes true
It really helped me
Minimalist lifestyle
I enjoyed watch this channel every day, and retirees should watch this channel, if you like to travel!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much
I appreciate this !
Have a great day
Thank you for promoting Msia.Msia is indeed a very interesting country. The life here is not that depressed n havoc. The population is low n the distribution of population quite equally uniformly distributed. The nature n development is in inter related with one another without damage to environtment.U can enjoy the nature but living in a modern city with best amenities at the same time😊
I agree
Peaceful, nice city, walkable, great food , great prices
I love the content. Your videos have definitely changed the way I think.
This is great
I’m happy to bring a good message to you
KL is a nice place. I miss it
I agree
Very walkable and great street foods
Absolutely fantastic video! Great information and editing!
Thank you :-)
I’m glad you are along for the journey
U'r welcome here bro. Keep uploading u'r story.
Thank you
Very kind of you
DONT FORGET YO WASH THAT SHIRT YOU WHERE EVERY DAY!!❤
It's easy to do guys. I stay in backpackers and the washing powder they sell at the mini marts are extremely good at getting clothes clean, you should use less to avoid fading black t-shirts. But the effectiveness is awesome for handwashing clothes at night and letting it dry for use 2 days later. Travel light and enjoy!
It needs it haha
It’s got !!
Great point !
Another great video. Thank you for taking the time to share your travels and retirement strategy.
You are most welcome
I hope you are having a great week
Another great vid.
Thank you
I hope your day is going well :-)
@@RetireandGo I’m guessing you were in the navy being from Hawaii. My son is in the navy & my daughter is applying to the naval academy this December. Thank you for your service!!
I love your videos. Very interesting and insightful. Thank you, Sir.
Thank you
I hope the week is going well :-)
Thanks again for sharing about your new life and how you manage it, it is so inspiring! Another thing I wanted to say is I really like the peaceful music you play in the background. It is soothing -- don't change it! See you in your next post, and until then, take care!
Thank you so much
I appreciate this
CZcams is so strict on music
I have the license information for about 3 calming tracks
@@RetireandGo Well, you did choose nice ones in any case! Thank you!
@@annecy49 thank you so much.
Have a great weekend !
Maholo for these fabulous vlogs Brother!!
You are most welcome
I’m so happy to be back in KL
In KL there are few places like this area even bigger garden in the city…. Lake Garden, Titiwangsa…..
There are also many sea side resorts or Highland resorts which are 2-3 hrs drive from KL
ACTUALLY M’sia is a good retirement place…
Oh yes I love the lake garden
Welcome back to malaysia!! Thanks for a wonderful video.
Thank you
I love visiting Malaysia
Great channel and advice brother…in a couple years I’m gonna follow your lead .
Very nice
Work, invest, pay off all
Debt, get rid of stuff, prepare to travel !
You deserve it
Good stuff. I feel like I need to go back to your first vids and go thru them all. I need to catch up on lots of things.
For sure, I went to Latin America a few months ago
They were fun videos
Swell video, dad!

This was another very lovely vicarious travel experience, both relaxing and informative. A refreshing break!

What a wonderful video in KL.
It’s a big and walkable city

Thanks again about investing for retirement over seas your right on brother😊
Absolutely :-)
I’m trying to do more investing thoughts
Another Home run video🙏🏼
Thank you so much
This is very kind
Well done video. New subscriber here. I plan to move from southwest Florida this year to Malaysia or the Philippines and I see you have a series on each. Thanks 👍
Oh my this is wonderful
You will enjoy them
Please keep us updated ok?
Good work, and great advice, changing one's mindset and passive income in my mind are the major keys, the mental side is obviously the most difficult. You mentioned renting out your home long term, that must be a huge part of your equation, great work brother, PEACE!!!
I agree
It all starts with the mindset
Heeelooo bro thank for you come back to malaysia l like to channel good luck😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Thank you so much
I really enjoy walking KL
I will try other areas of Malaysia in the future as well
Absolutely gorgeous park , very well planned. I love that the natural beauty of nature was incorporated into the city, a nice reprieve . Im really listening to your financial advice and tips. Its hitting hard for me as I have admittedly spent enormous amounts of money on unnecessary stuff, just 6 month ago I realized how bad my habit was. I was looking for things to buy. That has changed. 12:40 was hysterical, you just were gone backpack and dust in the wind . Low cost living here in the West is extremely challenging. Everything is sky high the worst Ive seen. We are getting $ 600.00 electric bills...and the electric company is asking for a 10% increase. Looking forward to a change.
I understand
My bills in the US we’re so high i was blown away
I had to make major changes
At night there is a fountain music\light show, at Petronus, and if you have kids there is extensive playground areas
I’m appreciate this !
I’ll have to check this out
I would be interested in a comparaison between Thailand and Malaysia on the subject of security, if you have the opportunity in another video. Thanks!
Oh that’s interesting
I appreciate this
Malaysia is a lot safer then Thailand. Thailand the police are very corrupt and drugs are everywhere creating many social problems. I still like Thailand but only for vacation. Malaysia is for living.
Great video. I visited KL once to renew my passport/visa issue. I was in and out quickly and didn't really give KL a chance. I need to go back after your showing many different areas. Keep going! I'm following your dividend investing formula!! Cashing out of some real estate to set up my move back to Thailand, as a base.
Very nice
Keep us updated
You are setting up the accounts and getting ready to go !
I just found your channel about a month ago. I love hearing how to do this. My husband is retiring in a few months and also will be getting a sizable inheritance in a few months. We are thinking about doing the same thing as you. Going to different countries in Asia for as long as they allow us visa free. We also contemplated buying a house in Tennessee and living there cheaper as we would buy the house in cash. But I think going to Asia to live will be financially better. We need your channel. I need living over is Asia for dummies as I have no idea from start to finish to do this. Your channel is giving me some much needed info. Please keep talking about how to do this in simple terms. I love this info your giving. Not many people are being specific about this and like I said I need living in Asia for dummies course lol. Have a wonderful week 🤗
I think u can go thru nomad capitalist videos. U don’t have to consult him, but I think his videos can give u some tips where to retire and pay less taxes. I enjoy watching his videos though. I’m a Malaysian and I do welcome u guys if u come to visit malaysia. Cheers
@@andrewchong2616 thank you 🤗
It was wonderful to read this
Thank you
I’m excited for you two !
Really enjoying your sojourns in Asia ( planning to visit KL this Nov)...suggest you buy a ticket and go visit Japan (esp. Osaka)..it is just a short hop...just came back and was so surprised with the low cost in Japan (always thought it was expensive!)
Japan is a good price right now too !
Cool
Thank you :-)
Have a good day
I just realized you’re from Hawaii! I lived on Oahu for almost 10 years!
Oh interesting! Were you stationed there?
It is a great place to live, very pricey though haha
Kind locals :-)
@@RetireandGo Yeah, I was stationed there from 1994-1998 and 2000-2004
Have you ever traveled to Okinawa? Nice island vibe and relatively low cost. Anyways thanks again for such an awesome video.
I have not but I would really like to go
Do I am trying to understand what the video is all about….in the end you said that you will be coming back every year or from time to time. So where do you live; in the US…nevertheless, my dream is to move to Malaysia. So beautiful and cost effective. I have watch several videos and wow, it is really nice.
Yes KL is wonderful
I will try to spend a few months a year here
Oh, let me explain. I live in Asia but go to the US for Christmas, that’s all
Sorry if it was confusing :-)
@@RetireandGo that’s a great life to live…lovely place and friendly people not forgetting cost effective living.
KL is in the process of becoming another garden city like SF Singapore or Colombo
True
It’s the new New York
I mean that
It’s incredible
I think the Cat likes U❤.
It’s nice to see these cats roaming
I find it fascinating that someone from Hawaii, is able to be happy travelling SE Asia 👍.
I’m from Australia and it would be equally hard for one of us to do the same. But I would love it also… have to get to that point first of course with the wifee.
We just got back from a holiday in Narm and Singapore. Loved it but I wouldn’t live there… Denang maybe for a short spell. There maybe some other hidden gems but I didn’t see them.
Malaysia KL is very much on our hit list next as is China.
Your financial advice is good, but I have serious concerns about the US$ stability over the next years. And in light of that where will that leave treasuries and Bonds?
Look forward to you future vids ❤
Thank you so much
I hope your week is going well
I appreciate your information
How is penang compared to KL? Is penang significantly cheaper?
Good question
I’m planning a Penang trip this year
I am a quant day trader and the more volatile the market is the better it is.
So let’s hope we can have very volatile markets.
I agree with you !
Dips are buy times
I like a good correction
Good info bro! Im not trying to be a smart arse here and I know you probably have to show what its like to eat out at various restaurants in various countries, but moving around a lot and eating at restaurants will eventually catch up with you.
True haha
You know, outside of the videos I usually eat in my room
Cereal and milk haha
@@RetireandGo Stay off the carbs as much as possible when traveling especially in Asian countries, everything is loaded in sugar. Your getting to the age that it will start doing damage, trust me. Stop and youll feel young again. Carbs are an addiction, the more you have the more you crave them, I love carbs more than anyone, but which do you love more eating them or feeling your best?
@@RetireandGo Also Trump just claimed he was pro bitcoin so I wouldnt rule out some kind of safe investment in that. I wasnt very bullish on it until now.
@@rickmccann4016 some folks know much more about Bitcoin than me
I stick with great companies
But hey! Make dat money !
@@rickmccann4016 very good point
I need to keep off the rice and noodles
Also beer
It’s straight to the belly haha
Enbridge is a good pick, always want to add a little more of that one. Ever get tempted by VALE and its high dividend?
Hmm interesting
I’ll check on that
I like sblk , ABR
They pay big dividends
Thank you for these, I am fortunate to have finically people in my life, you very much remind me of them. I will pretend like these where my own pick to seem intelligent, Thanks. @@RetireandGo
Be aware of pumas in the parks they were behind you.

A little backed up

Aloha to you !

Aloha to you !!
Another option for passive income is high yield savings accounts. I’ve been getting around 5.25% for over a year now.
This is a great point
There are some amazing high yield accounts!
I intend to spend this upcoming winter in Pattaya and Vietnam. Would love more info on the little stuff, like power adapters, etc. Do you offer this type of info?
You can buy phone and laptop chargers that will fit you USBC or iPhone from literally any store or market and you will walk past a lot. Phuket airport has a mini mart right outside the airport exit so you will never have to worry about that. Never overpack for every thing you might need because you can just get clothes or electronics when you're there. My only advice is when you're at Chinatown in KL the prices are roughly double, so always ask for just under half the price they want, if they say no ask if there's anything similar for that price. Or walk/train 2km to Bukit Bintang or lala port to buy at that price from those Mini marts
Oh that’s a good point
I should do some adapter chats
I use a universal all in one I bought at an airport
It’s awesome
Do you have any video comparing Thailand and Philippines or any other country. If yea please give the link. If not it might be a good video
I have Philippine videos
It was a good trip
Are you considering these two locations?
I recommend traveling to both
You will enjoy the trip !
Hi what is the name of the app you used to get your digital arrival card
It is at imi. gov. my
Have a good day
I am about as frugal as they come. 43 years old. I have 300k in brokerage account. 280k 401k. 4% on that is $23,200 or $1933.00/mth. I feel thats enough unless i move back to USA when i get older.
Good on ya man!
I think you are doing fantastic
That’s a solid monthly income
Latin America and Asia would work great!
Have you thought about visit eastern Europe?.
I have considered it for 2025
Suggestions?
Romania (Transsylvania)and Montenegro/Croatia(Adriatic sea) are cheap countrys. From May to September are hottest.
Thanks very great advise. Im Malaysian can i ask how different is between Hawai and Kuala Lumpur in term of it's weather?
They are not far off
Hawaii is cooler by about ten degrees I think
Great content in your videos, what are your thoughts on holding a portion of your retirement income in covered call high yielding etfs that pay every month, that do not erode the nav price, examples JEPI JEPQ GPIX GPIQ etc
I think high yield ETFs with others like SCHD etc etc is a good stable safe plan
I have these items
I can’t advise but I can talk about what I’m doing
I love PICK, ABR, ENB, UTG
Great plan
My wife and I married in the Philippines 🇵🇭 26 year ago, currently living living in Central Texas, will use the Philippines as our home base to travel throughout SE Asia
Have our passive income investments all set up. Just trying now to trying to declutter and minimize all the crap we accumulated all these years!
CDs should also be on the list as a very safe investment that in todays market, can pay 5%+.
Good point !
They are a great way to go
You can currently get over 5% in a savings account. Sure that won't last but you do have access to your money. A high interest CD is great if you are okay with not touching that money for at least 1 year.
@@damienyuen7718 You can buy brokered CDs with a duration of one month.
It’s quite common to build a CD ladder. For example, buying durations of 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.
A decent brokerage should have a tool available to help you build a CD ladder of a duration.
Sounds easy...but its not...depends on the type of person you are...great for some..impossible for others
All true
I say take what works for you
Keep learning
KL look like in NY
Yes true
It’s a major modern city
And safe
Great insights have you considered yield garming in crypto very lucrative, but yep you are right on it - change your location.
I wish I understood crypto more
But yes, living in Asia has been a huge help financially
I need to be honest. I much prefer it when you're in Pattaya. I guess it's because I'm relocating there.
I understand completely
When you get to Pattaya you may enjoy a zip over to Malaysia now and then
@@RetireandGo Your content is relevant and informative as usual. I need to tell you that you have great energy that even through CZcams gets transmitted to us your viewers. Keep it coming!!
@@Tommytorque69 very kind of you :-)
Can you tell us on avg what amount of portfolio are you working with 100k or 500k to net you ?? Of passive income
and also % breakdown of how much you putting into each of those fund ? 5% - 10% etc
If you target $2000 a month in dividend income from your portfolio you will be good to go in Southeast Asia
That’s my target
@@RetireandGo awesome yeah for me gonna be a quite higher simply lifestyle choice but I hear ya. Thx
I guess you can invest more than the time you working because you have a house to renting out and use that money to invest, right? That would be great if so.
Yes that worked well for me
No storage
No things
All sold
House rented
I love your videos but please consider changing the Boomer Mr. Rogers music. It's driving me crazy.
Haha
CZcams is the culprit
I have three tracks , maybe 4 that I use in the background
I had to include license info to use them ugh
Just life :-)
Yeah, Music is fine as is. Keep up the good videos! 😊
because of course it's all about you🤣
There are lots of new AI sound generators that let you produce as much royalty free music as you want. Just do a quick search and you'll find some. Regardless, most of us are here for the info, not the soundtrack. Keep up the great work!
Schd and DGRO ...Jepq
Yes! I live SCHD
What do you think of jepi?
@RetireandGo I personally like jepq better... I think even if you spend the monthy dividend ... you still get a 1% gain on your capital.
Can you share how much do you invest a month an approximate please and thank you. I need to have an idea $$$??👋😇🙏🌎🇵🇦😎
Yes of course
I try to target a dividend income of $2000 a month
Not much !
24 k a year ! Now you see why I
Live in Asia
I try to keep about a quarter of that to invest
Not always possible
I’m using cds as I’m getting 5%. I make $3000/month in just interest and I’m not touching my principal
Kabooooom
3000 a month?
You are good to go just about anywhere in Southeast Asia
( except Singapore haha )
@@RetireandGo I draw another $1000/ month from another retirement account so it’s actually $4000/month. Still not enough for Singapore. I will be in Vietnam for a month in march, then Kuala Lumpur and then 2 months in Thailand
What CDs would you recommend to look at and research?
@@ItalianPropertyTours I buy brokered cds through my vanguard account. I look for 2 year non callable cds. Right now those are paying 5%apy
Eat at family mart. 🤣🤣🤣
Haha yeah I grab stuff from there
I hate budget living :)
I know, I understand
It’s not easy
Just wanted to tell you something, I am as a Malaysian. My friend had an car accident and broke his hip ball joint and needed replacement. It all cost him RM700 for a titanium hip joint and a week at the government hospital. It was a huge operation with 5~6 doctors and 8 hour operation. THE whole bill was RM700 surgery and including the titanium hip ball joint !! Its like less than USD150 bucks. The surgery was free they only charge him for the titanium ball hip joint.
Edit: My grandma passed away at the same hospital. She had multiple organ failure. They gave her morphine injection to reduce her pain for 3 days until she couldn't make it anymore. she was 100 years old. That costs us ZERO money.
This is incredible!
That price is awesome
I hope he is healing well
I wouldn't describe KL as very large. KL proper is kinda small compared to a lot of other cities.
