- I grade each main character from X-Men 97. Deciding if they have received an Upgrade or Downgrade for this new season. Not all characters were treated fairly.

I completely agree with u on jubilee, her character just isn’t there. The worst episode of the whole series was the episode that focused on her
Jubilee is a narrative device. In the original series she was the explanatory lense for the audience. She could ask questions like, "Who's Magneeto?" So the audience could get fluid conversational exposition. This season her role was taken by Sunspot. They also provide characters for younger audiences to relate to, as well as justify calling the Xavier Institute a school.
I'd say slight upgrade. Sure her oroginal role was suplanted by Sunspot, but they provide an "outside the X-man lifestyle" viewpoint as well as having gotten a bit of a power boost from the original.
Also, Jubilee doesn't get a mannequin because she's not an X-man yet. She tags along on missions when they basically start off as field trips. Except that last one. No idea why she and Roberto were involved.
But Jubilee learned how to do those destructo disc looking projectiles. She got a slight upgrade

1. Magneto
2. Cyclops
3. Gambit
4. Nightcrawler
5. Storm

I've always been a big fan of Gambit Rouge and Jean as well, Cyclops, and regards to Gambit, specifically, Gambit could always do that and more. The thing was in the comics that he had sinister cut out a piece of his brain, as there was an alternate him that was omega level and ended up becoming evil. So effectively Remy limited himself. I've actually had an opportunity to meet the voice actors of rogue and gambit from the nineties, and I had pictures with both of them Chris cason and Lenore Zann
Gambit has the potential to be Omega but in most time lines he opts not to for fear of losing control, and instead has Sinister weaken his powers. Hence his helping him attack the Morlocks. When he does become Omega, he is called New Sun and he ends the world because he loses control and ignites the atmosphere. Death Gambit is also insanely strong.

I disagree with you on Beast. One of Beast's powers was super strength. I think they highlighted more in the show. Even in the movies, they didn't really show, and for sure, in the old toon, they didn't really. Plus, he made some funnies. The one-handed clap joke had me rolling 🤣
The correct answer for the biggest Upgrade is Morph since they retconned his power.

Storm definitely got a downgrade. They finally acknowledged her power then wrote her off the important fight scenes. Criminal.

I don't think Storm got an upgrade power wise, she just got an upgrade because of the Omega level status confirmation. The level of power shown in 97 is what she has shown in the OG. Until they show her doing something global or even continental. In the OG she healed an entire planet, stopped a huge tsunami like it was nothing, dropped a building on Juggernaut, almost destroyed the Savage land, almost single handedly defeated all the members of the hellfire club, and was commended for her power by dark phoenix.

Jubs? A downgrade? She joined as a 13/14 year old and just turned 18 here
Even at 18 she still isn't given a uniform or any major responsibilities.
That’s one thing i hated about Wolverine and the x men series they made Scott so whiny annoying in that show lol x men 97 has definitely made me a fan of cyclops again

Gambit has been downgraded to un-living.
Cyclops is still a crybaby to me. A leader of the Xmen who can barely take on a prime sentinel. The only feats he had was on episode 1 and finale. And no I'm not a fan of wolverine, he's too overrated, him being in deadpool is a desperate move to appease the fans.
I'm glad jean and Rogue got the upgrade. Storm on the other hand was very underwritten. Her powers were not displayed properly as it should've been. Hopefully next season will be different.

Morph only copies physical traits, not powers
Some powers are physical traits like super strength. We saw Morph turn into Hulk and use his strength or turn into Quicksilver and run fast.

@@ecroxsandozSuper strength is not a physical trait. Colossus’ metal exterior is a physical trait, and even then it shouldn’t be as indestructible as Colossus, because the metal would be inorganic. It should be equivalent to when Mystique fought Wolverine in the first X-men movie, where she turned into him and he cut off her claws because they weren’t adamantium. A character that’s heavy because of their weight/size isn’t a power. So that makes sense. The durability and immovability of like the Blob, is tied to his power not his weight/size. What they did here was blur the lines for writing purposes. And it’s kinda cheap.
