- Number 1
To make it seem as though the weight of the Ring was astronomical, the floor of Bag End was magnetized so when Bilbo dropped the ring, it wouldn’t bounce around.
Number 2
At the time the cast filmed the scene of the fellowship members mourning the loss of Gandalf, none of them had actually met Ian McKellen.
Number 3
A dummy was used for Sean Bean’s dead body at the end, and it was so convincing that one of the crew members asked the other castmates if the dummy wanted anything for lunch.
Number 4
Divers checked the river for sharp objects before filming the scene where Sam goes after Frodo, but Sean ended up stepping on glass that pierced his foot and required an airlift and stitches.
Number 5
Lawrence Makoare’s vision was impaired while in makeup for Lurtz, and this meant that he couldn’t pull his punches in the final battle. Viggo decided not to pull his punches either to add to the realism of the moment.

It's true. When Viggo cut the orc's head off he actually cut that guy's head off.
You are racist versus thyroid glans
Aragorn deflecting the dagger was legit
So was Gandalf smacking his head on the arches in Bagg-end
Sean- Cuts foot, has to be airlifted to hospital.
Viggo- Breaks big toe kicking helmet, given 800mg of Motrin, told to get ready for scene running across Rohan.
Sean didnt cut his foot, it got penetrated by a big shard of glass and it went all the way through.
Well they couldn't give Viggo lesstrin
A whole slew of issues could result from a cut, whereas there’s really not much that can be done for a broken finger or toe besides a splint / buddy tape and some pain killer. (unless it’s so wonky that it requires surgery or something)
Most people know this but when Argorn blocked the throwing knife during the fight it wasn't digitally added he blocked the real prop because the fake blood made it slippery
Did you know Viggo Mortensen actually broke his toe kicking the helmet in that one scene...true story 😉
Actually I knew. It was talked about a lot.
Haha! :)
Oh my god, it was real fysical pain. 😂😅
And orlando breaking his ribs
This is the most insanely known fact ever
These movies are iconic. There will never, ever be anything better.
Both Gandalf and Boromir’s deaths were heroic
fact #6: Frodo doesn't know Legolas' name
This is the first time I'm hearing about the magnetized floor, but not the first time that I've noticed that the ring didn't bounce when dropped, and you're right, it really did convey this massive weight, a burden.
the floor wasn't magnetized as far as I know, they made a huge plate sized ring so it wouldn't bounce back because of it's own weight
@@aperson2368 they did make a huge ring for closeup shots, but that’s not the reason it didn’t bounce, because a huge ring would bounce just the same, or at the very least the floor would have absorbed the shock from the collision and would have moved/wobbled, but that didn’t happen - you can’t achieve that effect with a bigger ring, it would still bounce.
It's all in the special addition DVD
El cómo lo habían hecho para que no rebotara el anillo siempre me lo había preguntado.
It really hit when they ended up with PTSD. It made the movie very memorable for a non Tolkien fan
Great job diving team
Of course vigo didn’t pull his punches
You forgot the knife deflection as well
They never meet Gandalf when they mourn Gandalf
2nd 😊 And cooool
Why couldn't he pull his punches??
Here's a fact you've never heard. Did you know when vigo kicked that helmet he really broke his toe???
Unbelievable? 🤔🤨🤭
Was the ring in the movie not made from gold?
But gold's not magnetic.
its not gold, just gold plated steel.
I dont think you understand what the word astronomical means
I don't think you understand hyperbole
#1 is false they actually made a giant ring and dropped it so it wouldnt bounce
Frodo was a coward
an airlift for your foot being cut oh my God you better be glad you didn't grow up in my house
It was very deep and if you know anything about new Zealand where they were filming they were up in the scenic areas so it's not like they could quickly drive him to a dr. Too remote
Yeah. I grew up American poor and healthcare was a rare treat
It didn't happen in the US, so he did not have to pay for the airlift or hospital.
Healthcare is a human right.
