He is currently living in Hungary for the school year and works in the us for the summer. (he is here now) He is an awesome dude, one of a kind person, truly great guy worth knowing. Then I opened up my packet of Pop Tarts and realized one had been partially broken. Yet I still went on with my day, undeterred by the obstacles put in front of me. Wow! What an amazing achievement by Akos. And what a truly humble guy and true sportsman. This is a great video and deserves to be shown on TV. Thank you Akos, Anissa, Gary and Karsten you are a great team.

    I really enjoyed this. Akos is an amazing athlete and a great personality. Karsten was a super addition to the team and Anissa was superb crew, as far as the video guy (Gary) goes, no complains. He was an amateur crewing for his buddy and the love and respect was obvious. Thank you for sharing. Btw, I had heard of Akos because Jurek mentioned him in his book and knew the outcome, but still was great to watch.

    thanks! I hope it came through in the video but akos is my hero and I, to this day, praise the kind of man he is... he is family and loved like a brother. He is the most honorable person I know on this planet. soo everyone must know!! I know who did the work. heck I felt blessed I didn't have to go the three days! that energy would not have persisted for sure..we would have passed out. in retrospect not sure what we would have done had he had a longer race, we had no back up crew members.

    I'm just 11 or 12 minutes into this, so can't say much about the narrator, but I for one would like to thank you so much for making this documentary narrating Akos' journey and step by step experience in a race that most of us will never be able to participate in. Thank you! :) Very interesting.

The whole support crew were great! Akos was truely inspirational. An amazing effort. It’s a great film. Loved every minute and thanks for sharing this journey!

    Love this documentary! It is well edited and the raw footage, without music or a narrator explaining everything to us, is refreshing. At first when I watched this, I thought the camera man took over too much of Akos's journey.. but really, he was cheering for his friend the way he knew how to! If the crew had an issue with it, especially being around each other for over 24 hours, I'm sure they'd tell him to be quiet.. especially Akos himself; who trained his ass off and having ultra focus he'd cut anybody off from disrupting his race. Awesome stuff!

  • @vanlakos
    @vanlakos Před 9 lety +6

    Great video and I wish everyone learn from it! Very inspiring and I didn't expect Akos to be with the best of the best! Camera man is just expressing himself and even though I don't like it but its my problem and I'am noone to tell to anyone how should they express themselves. Lets concentrate on positive things and support Akos and his crew members!!! why bother focusing on negative?
    Once again -> Great video! Great performance! Great story! Great athlete!

    Very inspiring, i cant imagine running over 100 miles in a steaming desert. Then again, back when i started running two years ago, the thought of running a 10k was mind boggling to me, yet now im running marathons. Obstacles that seem daunting at first can become doable after lots of hard work, i saw that in Akos as he strived and sailed through the scorching hot road doing what he loves. While i dont think ill be ultrarunning, this definitely motivated me to keep running and qualify for Boston someday. Thanks for this

    For people whining about the commentary by the camera man, have a listen around 2:00:22 - 2:00:44 Notice anything? Jurek's running partner is ranting and raving in exactly the same fashion... While it's definitely annoying for us at home on the couch, it obviously has its place in the race setting.

    Wow, that was a 2 hours well spent. While I agree that the cameraman was over zealous to the point of distraction, and had I been the runner it would have done some harm... can you really blame him for his extreme excitement? I was yelling at my kindle in amazement. I kind of wish you had beaten Scott Jurek. I was actually looking for a documentary of him racing when I found this. I think I enjoyed this more than I would have that. With all that said the entire production quality was beyond anything I would have expected almost as much as the amazing running achievements you all were so incredibly kind to have shared this with us in this way.

    "I just want to finish." Finishes 2nd place, 17 minutes behind Scott Jurek. Absolutely brilliant. Well done Akos. Mad respect to the crew, and having a veteran ultra runner along was a nice bonus for them, and for us. Karsten's insights were great. I hope he got to run it the following year. Something to inspire me as I begin training for my first ultra!

Aint nothing wrong with being loud and excited for your buddy, all the people who don't get that, just tell them to EAD. Id rather have a friend like you on my crew than one of these a-hole commenters. Thanks a ton for sharing this video, I enjoyed all 2 hours of it.
