Really easy to put another V8 engine and gearbox into the Range Rover. Question is, is it still 4WD? does the BECM still work properly, does the key actually start the car? Does the dash work etc. You haven't covered any of this and all we see you do is you short out the starter to start it. I notice you haven't replied to any of your viewers questions. Just not enough info to say this is a good video sorry.
I doubt he’s able to use the same ignition switch to start the car. Dashboard cluster is probably also non-functional. It’s also highly unlikely he was able to keep the 4wd capability. It’s probably now a 2wd wagon.
I’ve done a couple of discoveries, and range rovers. You can leave the factory harness in and integrate the ls engine harness in easily. Also the factory gauges will work you can put the factory sensors in the ls engine so you will have two coolant temp sensors and oil psi sensors, then the factory speed sensor can be tapped into from the Gm trans. There are conversion kits available to use the Land Rover transfer case on the back of Gm trans. That lets you use the factory speed sensor as well as the Gm
Range Rover used to use a GM style bell housing I think, in the 70s I believe that bought some Buick castings for motor & transmission, more specifically the Buick 215 aluminum block V8, BUT that was a long time ago. Maybe the bell housing is still GM design?
Ls swaps are not that hard. The motor and trans are on an independent ecm pcm. Not much to fish through a few wires and add a secondary independent fuse block. And power the cab and accessories oem fuse block from it. They put out comparable hp. So drive line ought to be ok within reason
Pretty sure if they are anything like the earlier Rovers that's not true. The engine/trans/BCM operate within parameters. I'm sure this guy could have gotten this to run and drive but I'd be curious how he integrated traction control/4wd and kept the BCM happy to keep traction control, AC functions gauges etc. You'd have to fool it to think it was running (Rover engine running)
im about to do a 5.3 ls swap with built motor and Magnuson supercharger in my 2016 range rover sport. bought it with a blown engine and had a couple 5.3 laying around.
Interesting engine swap. Some issues I see is the L322 has a front diff that is bolted to the engine oil pan, so a custom pan fabrication is required to make a swap possible to fit a LS or other engine types to retain the 4WD function. The 5.0l engine in these vehicles is a ticking time bomb destine to fail a low miles regardless of how well you maintained it. I'm trying to repair a 2011 L322 5.0L S/C. 80K miles and the timing chains and guides are worn out. Injectors are leaking and high pressure fuel pumps are leaking gas into the oil pan. JLR parts are expensive beyond reason. The vehicle overall has an appealing look. Handling and ride are good. I just don't see it as a long term keeper.
This is what I would do if I was to buy an old Range Rover and I think it is good to buy an LS Motor in the Range Rover because the engines these things originally came with are just junk
I plan on doing a similar swap I have a 2003 range rover HSE with a 2002 5.3 coming from a Chevy Tahoe. Any pointers on the swap I would greatly appreciate it. Great job man I can't wait to get mine done this year!
I have a 2005. Where did you get info for the swap that your going to do? I love my car but the engine just went out and I keep seeing everyone talking about swapping the engine out with a Chevy.
I drive a 2003 silverado with a 5.3 140 miles a day round trip with 400k on the original motor. Drips oil from the rear main seal. My answer is yes. Yes reliable.
Why would u post this and not share info about how u made it happen? Pretty fn lame on your part tbh. O well I have a nephew going to mit I’m Houston who is gonna help build this. And we’ll make a video about how we make it happen. 😤
Please do a full review on this swap, we need more info! thanks!

@@joshhammack9268nice to know 🔥
I love the LR4 looks but hate the damn Jaguar V8 5.0. I would love to do this and make the LR4 actually reliable! Nicely done!
@@joshhammack9268where are you located? I’d like more info

04 would be a bmw motor
Did you fab your own motor mounts? Are there any pre-made mounts available? Did you use the stock rear end? Thanks
Damn, I need more info on this. Found a 2010 rr sport with a bad motor. Want to slap a 5.3 but I don’t want to do it if all the electronics won’t work

What transmission did you use ?
Now it just needs a couple Dana 60 axles underneath.
Does the cluster work? You keep it awd or rwd only?
Was wondering thus same thing

The engines are drunk because Tata the company that makes tok toks in India, owned land rover at the time.

How did you get the ranger rover transmission to work with the LS
Some dude in Dubai does with toyota engine for this swap and it is crazy everything working good after swap
2:00 I guarantee that if there’s a 3 in place of the 6 a lot of p38 owners will want the plate
How? Should be titled “LS Swapped Rover” haha. I have a 2011 RRS with a bad engine at 74k miles, thinking of going the same route
That's silly..how much would u charge to do it
So how did you do it for cheap? Lmao

Did you do it? Do you have to use the Chevy Trans too?
@@showrunner2183 someone used a yukon
Did you use a General Motors drivetrain in place of the Range Rover drivetrain? or did you find a way to make the engine to the original drivetrain?
How reliable do you think this swap would be for daily driving 80+ miles

I wish i have thise skills...how much would cost go do that ina a shop in texas??
Can I just pay you to ls swap mine?
It is now Better than New!
Where are you located!!! Would love to have you do this on my Range Rover hmu when you can
Looks like a lot of work... to still end up with a Range Rover.
Is it still running on the air suspension ?
What did you do for the drive shaft in the middle of this swap
That’s lot of work! I thought I only can drop the engine and go!! But seems there is also ecu &harness😢Was it that critical!?
Why don’t you rev up your engine ???
Does it work in all wheel drive or a four wheel drive
Is it still AWD?
Did you use GM harness?
How much is the amount required to amend and is the fourth payment still working?
outstanding👌! ( is the soound ok ? )
I think he just got the engine running not actually working with the car
Awesome work!
Plz tell who does Ls swap hood in Range Rover hse

The fun part is figuring out yourself, thats why we're mechanics in the first place
"How" ?

Broh may I pay you to do mine
This shows nothing of how you did it just that you did it 😂
