    Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are not a rich man, you really should be as you are personally responsible for my purchase of at least 4 pedals and one Suhr guitar and there is no telling how many others like me are out there. You are an amazing guitarist!

    Wanted to start moving away from Boss products but you know what some things do not need to be a high price like my Strymon pedals to sound good. Anyway I traded in my Boss BD-2 for a EHX Soul Food big mistake so I took it back and bought a Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion it's awesome!! But I miss my Blues Driver now so this one's now on the next purchase list.

    Why just because something says 'BLUES" on it, that people only have to play blues? I was originally wanting the waza SD-1 but guitar center only had the standard models and one Waza Blues Driver. I bought the BD-2W and play it through my Plexi 59' reissue head. This thing ROCKS! Bang! there is 'That sound" I love! Dio-Sabbath-Kiss-Aerosmith etc.... All these high gain amps I have bought and sold trying to get that perfect sound that I grew up listening, and then I finally get it with just a stock Plexi and basic Boss pedal! Other brand pedals I have tried(and way more expensive) were good but also a bit too dark and compressed. This pedal gives you that sound without squashing the tone and still lets the amp breathe and feel natural. This pedal puts a smile on my face! I still want the SD-1W for my pedalboard... Thanks Boss!

      Yes yes yes! I know exactly what you mean. Spot on. Incredible isn't it? ; from a plain jane "run of the mill" Boss pedal? And it works very well with others in the chain?! What more?! Yes, it sounds plenty warm enough but with Sweetness AND Clarity. I mean, what more can one ask for? The BD will make your tone sound as Sweet and full as an Elliot Easton solo. When I came across this pedal I finally knew that I could easily get Easton's amazing, lush, candy sweet sound even though this pedal wasn't available until 1994. Did Easton use Mesa Boogies in studio? : 'cause he sounds like it, glassy smooth. It can do a "Mesa" tone too, I think. I understand your love for this little miracle of a treasure though, it's just like, A SECRET WEAPON, Moo ha ha!

    I have tried numerous overdrive pedals over the decades, and my main soloing pedal has historically an Ibanez Tube Screamer, but more recently I've been using the TC Electronic MojoMojo pedal. I've paired those both with a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe pedal. I set the Tumnus as my "always on" transparent clean overdrive (keeping it's gain down, and using it more like an equalizer to balance out my Princeton Reverb Amp tones). But something was missing with my lead tone, to my ears. The TS9 seemed too harsh. The MojoMojo seems too dark. I like sustain with crunch, but without being too gritty. Which is why I don't use a Fuzz pedal. I decided I had to try the Blues Driver, and got the BD-2w Waza version. OMG! This was the missing ingredient! After decades of tone-chasing, I now think I finally have the perfect small pedalboard. The chain is Keeley Compressor (makes for a great boost as well as added sustain and equalization) into the BD-2w, then into the Wampler Tumnus, then a Boss Super Chorus, and finally an MXR Carbon Copy. With the pedalboard itself, the cost is about $1000......but worth every penny. I highly recommend the BD-2w. The switch to the "Custom mode" (from the Standard BD-2 mode) increases the midrange punch and sustain, and creates the best tone I've ever achieved for playing Gilmour or Santana-like solos, on either of my Fender axes (Tele or Strat). With all 5 of the above pedals ON at the same time, I get the perfect tone and sustain for soloing over a song like Comfortably Numb, or for the instrumental Europa.

    So with regards to the cam mic audio in the last clip @ZeppelinRules it's a really vexing problem- it's a bug in Final Cut. occasionally I run across a clip where no matter how many times I turn down the cam audio when editing (I did it twice while editing this vid) it just keeps turning it back up when I bounce the video out to CZcams. It's REAL frustrating. It only happens rarely. Anyway, that's the deal. :) You still get the idea though I hope, even with the cam audio in there :)

    Hi Pete..I was wondering why I see a lot of players like yourself,that use drive pedals instead of the drive channel on your amp...I have never used any drive or distortion pedals,I always got the drive and gain from my amp...does it sound better to use the pedals for that?

    • @AnchovyRun
      @AnchovyRun Před 9 lety

      +jspete64 It's just a different approach. Sometimes pedals get a sound that an amp can't like the "tubescreamer into a fender bluesy lead tone". A lot of players also have the amp setup for light overdrive and then use the pedals to push it into more heavy overdrive/distortion territory. Another use is to do things like make a fender sound like a marshall or a marshall sound like a boogie. I don't use any drive pedals (except fuzz) but one of my friends runs his amp clean and gets all his drive from them. No better or worse!

    • @jspete64
      @jspete64 Před 9 lety

      I know this sounds crazy,but I have been playing for 20 years,and I have never used a distortion or overdrive pedal...I currently have an EVH 5150 III,which has more than enough gain,but,could you use a drive pedal on the clean channel?I have never thought about it before,but some of these pedals sound amazing...

    • @AnchovyRun
      @AnchovyRun Před 9 lety +1

      +jspete64 Sure you can! You can run them into the overdrive channel if you wanted to haha! A lot of people with two/three channel amps use pedals on the clean channel to give the amp another "flavour". For example, you could set up your amp with channel one being extremely clean and channel two being extremely distorted and then run a pedal into channel one for a light bluesy breakup and effectively turn your two channel amp into three channels! Hope this helps!

      This is the ONLY Drive/Distortion effect (outside of modelers of course) that I have even considered using. The Sweetly Superb Clarity of it is Absolutely worth "Cheating" with in it's case outside of tubes. I think this BD effect is like in a class by itself is so good that it can qualify as an amp's extended "enhanced mode", kind of like an amp mod since it works so, so well with amps and even other effects itself. It is really unique and highly underrated.

    Hey Pete, Any suggested settings to run this in front of my Orange rocker 15 to shape the tone of the clean channel? I'm using a strat and jazzmaster

    It's funny, when a world class guitar player with a mountain of expensive gear plays a pedal, the pedal sounds great. When I play that same pedal...not so much. Can't imagine why.

      Dude it's mostly in the hands. That's the truth. Just practice and you'll get to where you wanna get. The gear is just icing on the cake

    The Blues Driver BD2W sounds very good here. I was expecting a final thought at the end; do you like and recommend the BD2W? As always nice playing Pete :)

    Sounds like you forgot to mute the room mic on the last clip.
