I heard Lee Anderton owns Boss 😲😂
😂😂😂 This type of comment may have a future on every new Andertons vid😅
Lol! Maybe Boss should buy shares in Lee ;)
How many of us only clicked the link so we could write that?😂😂😂
Nah bruh, he didn't repeatedly say "The kind folks over at Boss sent us these pedals" etc. Funnily enough I did wonder if there would be some satire like this in the comments today and you did not let me down. Well played.
You sir win the internet today !
I got a Katana 50 Mk2 a while ago and ive only just realised, every single pedal on that table is built in to it. Still the Boss!
The Katana is a mighty weapon indeed. Ive even sold off some valve amps to go back to one. crazy
omg Duh I just realized that after reading this lol wth im gonna go play around now thanks.
This! I don't think the vast majority of people realise the extensive library of pedals the Katana users get to explore! It really is insane value for money...
Is the Angry Driver built in?
@@Paul-Dhow many valve amps would you need to sell to buy a solid state Katana?
The angry driver is by far Boss´s most versatile drive pedal. You can put the Blues Driver and Angry Charlie in parallel and get absolutely stunning sounds out of it.
It was my first experience with the Blues Driver, which i was very impressed by! The angry charlie (at least that iteration) I didn't prefer over some others I've tried like the Friedman BE OD and Small Box.
Thanks to JHS.
I love my angry driver!
The angry driver was okay. But I played with it live and couldn't get fizzyness out of the sound. I sold it quickly after to a friend that needed a mute button and a blues driver in one box. Honestly that's what I used it for. Now I just want a good sounding BD pedal. I haven't heard the popular ones in person yet. Only online.
@@MichtersRyefan It wasn't the amp?
I love the idea of a bus driver pedal. In my head, it's a very specific type of delay in which you play a note which doesn't output to the amp. Then you wait for ages and it plays it 3 times.
Boss only real "downside" is that a lot of people had Boss pedals as their first, so you're just inclined to try out other stuff. In truth, you could just stop there and you'd be set, and without spending a fortune
The DS-1 was my first pedal, then I kept getting more and more Boss pedals, I want to try to collect them all. I don't like the look of other pedals on my board because of my OCD.
Funny thing is... back in the late 70's early 80's most kids could only dream of owning Boss pedals because they were more expensive than most pedals on the market.
Yep, I had the turbo overdrive, CE-2 chorus and I think the DD-3 delay, and I always regretted selling them 😢
@@scramblesthedeathdealer soooooo you are saying you need an OCD pedal? Lol
@@H-TownAce if it were housed in a Boss pedal enclosure, yes, I would totally rock it.
I have a DIY Copper Sound Silicone Fuzz kit, I'm gonna use an old DS-1 enclosure to house it and paint it holographic.
Yes. The Blues Driver is the real king of tone. The OD3 is criminally underrated, their delays have been guitarists bread and butter for decades and their FZ1-W fuzz is my favorite fuzz ever.
I was just about to comment…am I crazy or is the OD3 the most underrated pedal out there?! That pedal is so so good.
Man the OD3 is an amazing pedal. Tbh it did used to get a lot of recognition, I think it’s sort of fallen by the wayside a bit now with all the boutique pedals offering shiny things to distract people. If boss stopped making it 100% it would be an instant classic and trade hands for hundreds of dollars tbh.
Now. The ODB3 however. The old dirty bastard of bass pedals. That should have been replaced by an odb-5 and a dsb-1 long ago. Don’t get me wrong for a bass pedal in an era where there were very few it’s actually got some great ideas - blend control, bass - focused drive, etc. But it doesn’t actually know if it’s a drive or distortion, it’s too noisey, etc. It’s a first draft really that should have been replaced, but because it was one of the first big bass pedals it’s also kind of it’s own thing…. Even if everyone loves to hate it
100%
The FZ1 is soo good
I feel that Lee's masterplan for 2023 was just to do video after video promoting the Blues Driver so that's all they need to stock and they can stop doing overstock sales on JAFODs.
Lee's sound was fire. SD-1 into BD-2 with the Octave and Delay to sweet things. Don't need anything else.
Boss is like the Seymour Duncan of pedals. They're both the biggest name in their respective fields, and you can't really go wrong with them.
Well said sir, madam, or individual of unspecified gender
@@DatMetalBoi75 Don't leave us extra terrestrials out?
@@banditkeithkingofduelmonsters my bad. Welcome to earth homie
Boss is on a whole other level.. maybe saying boss is the fender of pedals fits better
@@midnite_in_novemberBecause Fender doesn't make pedals or anything...
I’m really fond of the Angry Driver JB-2 as 2 drives in lots of different combinations, the RT-20 Rotary Ensemble for a pretty convincing Leslie sound, a SY-1 for some weird stuff and a VO-1 Vocoder for an easy way to play around with Talk Box sounds without choking on a fish tank hose.
Great to have Rob back. And yes Lee, I completely understand the feelings towards Boss. I sometimes look over them, but I still have a TU-2 on my board. It was the first pedal I ever owned. Had it for almost 20 years!
Slicer is brilliant for 90s dance/trance stuff. I use it live on a couple of songs in breakdown sections and to support drums and synth bass.
Yea It's pretty popular amongst the Ambient Soundscape people who have Meris,Chase Bliss and Red Panda on their boards (Me!) and don't play Blues licks..Boss" first "boutique" pedal without them I knowing it lol
I enjoyed seeing Rob and Lee hang out together again. They have made a lot of entertaining videos.
Its nice to hear Rob and Lees jams again. Not every single video, but once in a while.
Love ya Anderton's team.
ARE YOU TRYING TO SELL ME SOMETHING?!?! HOW DARE YOU GASLIGHT ME LIKE THIS! on a side note I come for the gear you show off and I stay for the personality and genuine joy you all seem to exude. I appreciate your videos and hope they keep coming out for years to come.
Those personality’s are consistently dishonest.
When I was a kid I used to borrow Boss pedals from mates and I loved them. I have various makes of delays, chorus, tremolo etc. but recently I have resolved to build my own Boss collection. This video has come along at the right time .😁👍🎸
Boss SD-1, a Wah Pedal and a Marshall. That's all you need to rock.
I usually go more for Rob's sound, but the overdrive into the blues driver is wonderful.
I'm sad that the od-1x didn't get picked. Such an underrated pedal
I had one....but you couldn't dial the gain back on the guitar's volume...it sounded muffled and weird with that pedal - so it wasn't for me at all. But still some cool sounds in there if you go for "one" gain setting.
My first two guitar pedals that I still use are my OD-1X (which was my main gain pedal next to my EHX Big Muff) and DS-1 and I also have a CH-1, TR-2, BF-3 and CS-3 and I will always love Boss’ pedals. They always sound great and are absolutely built like tanks, definitely gets the job done
Always good to see you back rob !!!!
This was a really fun video idea! Miss the old pre-pandem Anderton days
The Waza Dimension C and Waza Blues Driver are two of my favourite pedals, so I'm going with those and for my remaining four I'll throw in the Waza Delay, Tremolo, Flanger and EQ.
This is the sort of videos we need from Anderton’s! These funny, quirky challenges, so much fun!
The octave riff… such a great sound!
Part way through & I think you’re both crazy for not picking the JHS collab. It’s a Blues Driver that you both picked & a 2nd pedal! 2 pedals in one!
The Waza version of the BD is a step up.
Yeah, I just popped my JB-2 back on my board the other day, it's so versatile!
It’s been a sec since I’ve been on this channel. Chappers freaking SLAYED it on that PRS Tele, he made it sound so good🤘🏼 and I swear the captains playing has gotten even better. Hats off friends!
I could not live without my Blues Driver. It's been a staple of mine since the 90s.
heyyyyy it's great to see the dinamic duo still making videos after all these years
Boss is the Boss! Great video guys! So funny to see you make your choices. The Boss Katana amps have almost all of these incredible pedals in them. I have a Katana-head, love it!
Love the video concept for other brands too! MXR, Tone City, Electro Harmonix, JHS, Ibanez, etc!
There are Andertons vids....and then there's Chappers and The Captain. A great channel all-round, but these two are the originals!
What I like about boss is they always work and they’re always at least a solid option. They’re also not subtle, you can tell when you turn it on and it’s going to change the sound in a big big and inspiring way.
Nice to see you two guys together again :)

The Waza Fuzz is really excellent. Very multifunctional and also works as a distortion.
My board: TU3, CS3, BD2, SD1, DS1, FZ5, TR2, CF3, DD3.
All purchased used, but in immaculate condition!
Just got to the point where Rob picked the Slicer and I'm excited to see what comes.
I only have 1 boss pedal on my pedalboard (though I have 4 Behringer clones around). My first effects were in the form of a Boss ME-30 and I will one day put together a pedalboard of only Boss pedals, it's a long time dream of mine.
Love all the guitar content from you guys. I know its super meaningful to a lot of us that we have you Chaps to chat about guitars. Please keep it up. I hope to visit you in England someday!
I love Boss pedals.. my 6.. Tu3 tuner /CS3 compressor sustain/ BD2 blues driver / DD 8 digital delay / Tr 2 tremolo & RV6 reverb 👌🏻😎
Lee has really become an awesome player. I’ve watched him for years on this channel and I have to give props. Well done captain!
Love this format of video. Feels like a game. Would be great to see you do it with other guitarists and pedals (although I think 5 pedals might be enough)
Good to see Rob back, Lees playing is spot on, I forget how good boss pedals are
I have the Waza Craft version of both the BluesDriver and the Metal Zone and sometimes run them in tandem through a clean amp.
Boss pedals have been around for a hundred years for a reason. They’re great pedals. I’ve never met a Boss I couldn’t use. Blues Driver is my favorite.
Awesome to see Lee and Chappers playing together again. Rock on guys!
Together posting loads of positive content about products they have a financial interest in but “forget” to mention that fact. 😮
@@MR-um9ck Thats how alot of People do Business and make money it makes sense really , its Pretty Cut Throat the Bigger the Business and the more Money especially at the Top .
@@ledhendrix5054 I’m well aware that a lot of people have no scruples, but I’m very disappointed in Lee. If I owned a gear review channel I’d operate it on a FULL DISCLOSURE basis.
Whether lots of other people are unscrupulous makes no difference - Lee has disappointed me to the point where I won’t buy from Anderton’s anymore.
@@MR-um9ck Also if Lee Anderton winds you up why watch it , plenty more People to watch
@@ledhendrix5054 up to me who I watch, what I post. If you don’t like my comments you’re free to ignore them.
I love robs face while watching lee play with the octave pedal ❤
I agree with Lee in the idea that the boutique market plays on the idea that people want to be different. I’m a huge fan of many boutique pedal builders and have often times viewed the more common brands as being “generic” or less desirable due to their popularity. It wasn’t until recently when I was looking for a chorus pedal that I realized the folly of that mentality. I hadn’t owned a chorus in probably 10 years but couldn’t find one that fit the sound I had in mind among the boutique options. Checked out the MXR stereo chorus and loved it. It reminded me that sometimes not being overly different isn’t a terrible thing haha. Great video guys!
I have a CE -2w Waza Chorus and a SY-1 Synthesizer on my board. Chorus is awesome, of course, but the Synthesizer is a suprisingly versatile pedal with some great sounds.
Love Boss, especially their overdrive and distortion pedals. I own five of said pedals.
The first tuner pedal I've ever owned was a BOSS TU3. It's still on my board and has yet to let me down
08:27 OOoooooohhhhhhhh the chappers & captain signature jam IS BACK!!! I've been waiting for years!!!!!!!!!!!
AAH the old jam music - memory lane right there. 13 years, crazy it does not seem like that long ago.
What the captain and choppers jamming over the classic riff? pure nostalgia in this video. Takes me back to 1st learning Guitar.
Okay, the smile on my face at 8:28 when when Rob rolls those chords with that perfect swing and then Lee walks up the right side of it, well, it was simply a perfect gift, thank you very much guys, it really is great to enjoy this time with you
That PRS has sounded absolutely amazing in everyone’s hands! 🔥
Great vid guys.
That tremelo setting is a lot of fun on Rob's pedal. Basically just your guitar making a fun loop for you for free!
Lol.. love it.. you two are so cool and fun together, we need to see more of this the captain and Rob.. you two make me laugh so hard..
Boss is still the Boss. They are the only Boss. They are built like a tank. Very reliable. Very consistant. If you are a touring musician you can always find a Boss pedal. My own pedal board is almost just like Rob and Lee's Boss boards. But, it is only mostly Boss.
They were built like a tank until they moved to SMT. Now they are built like a macbook XD
I've always wondered about players who only use boutique rare pedals. If that gets faulty before you get on stage, where do you get replacement? Lol. With EHX and Boss, you can replace like sock, it's effing everywhere. But I guess boutique players haven't gotten out of their house to perform, pretty sad if you ask me.
How'd you fit Rob on there???
@@bassyey i kinda agree, but i think if you take care of your stuff that isnt likely to happen. why live life worried about the unlikely things?
@@GolecLuka😂 smt doesn't make boss pedals any less reliable but it does make the quieter so its a good move.
The DS1 has never been off my board. Granted my boards have always been shaffordable, but still, I can't imagine it not being there.
Cool to see Rob !
Just returned from Japan and bagging a brand new BD-2 was the highlight of my trip, so much cheaper than even a used one in the UK
Love the D&D T-Shirt!
Good selection of victory amps in the back ground there.....
My 6 every time!! Tuner, Blues Driver, EQ, Digital Delay DD3, Tremolo, Reverb. Country, Rock and Blues tones all day with those 6.
Killer video guys! The first 10 years of playing guitar I use nothing but Boss. You really can't go wrong with em. As far as the T-shirt, You're right I have a shirt with a picture of a boss pedal but it doesn't say boss on it It says everything else. It's a Boss DM3 delay❤ One of my favorite pedals by the way. My first real pedal board was a boss PCB6. It had six boss pedals that all fit in a plastic hard case. It actually was pretty compact and pretty badass back in the day! I ran that into my Marshall JCM and I had a Charvel guitar. That was probably late '80s...😊
Thanks again Lee, really enjoying these videos that have you with your old buddies Rob and Rabea ✌️
Nice episode 👊. BOSS pedals just work and are easy to dial in. I run a waza ds-1 with the gain all the way down with the tone at 11 o’clock into a UA dream 65. Just killer
Warmest Compliment on your Gift-wrap!😘🎉🎉 Wishing you even more success in the future, Concede your Gift Wrap with the Username Above.
Great episode…. As a recovering boutique addict I love Boss pedals. 😊
18:44 "Panama"-vibes was exactly what I got from that little riff as well 😄
these are my favourite type of videos
Hi. Good to see you both.
Rob's lead playing is freakin' SICK!!! The overdrive tone from the BD-2 is freakin' SICK!
I'm playing a Boss MD-2 and I really love it ❤
Boss pedalboard vs another pedal company like EHX or something else. Could be a fun video.
Great video as usual!
Anyone else have the experience of EHX pedals crapping out? My deluxe memory man, oceans 11, and one other that escapes me all fizzled out
@@Dwightpower88
Do you know why?
I have not had any issues with my ehx pedals but I only have the memory toy and soul food. 🤔
I’ve had most of my Boss pedals for at least 15 years, TU 2 has been my tuner since day 1. SD 1 and CE 3 have been favorites too. I like the design of boss pedals no flashy graphics, every pedal makes sense (like a Toyota)
Great video!
Best Anderton's vid I've seen for a while ❤
I still love my Boss GT10 floorboard which I’ve owned for many years; it is versatile and does everything I need.
The center of my pedalboard and the one pedal that never come off it since it came out, is the boss waza sola sound tone bender mkii.
lovely video lads, great to see you both again together on the screen.
you lad me shouting at the screen pick the angry diver or fuzz dammit lmao
Warmest Compliment on your Gift-wrap!😘 Wishing you even more success in the future, Concede your Gift Wrap with the Username Above.
Boss is the king for touring gear. Super consistent, super reliable, built like tanks and ubiquitous as all get out. If you do somehow manage to break one (perhaps by beating an angry roadie into a coma), you can guarantee there’s a replacement within 20 miles.
oeo. if your the rock I dont wahnuh meet the oeoe - o - no ha
I love robs face when he's shredding hahaha
They sound great and for those of us with big feet, the design is a major blessing. Can’t tell you how often I would accidentally engage extra pedals with the small micro switch. The larger toe area allows for a slight miss either way.
Warmest Compliment on your Gift-wrap!😘 Wishing you even more success in the future, Concede your Gift Wrap with the Username Above.
My first ever pedal was a Boss OS2, I absolutley loved it and still do. However, I think a lot of people either don't know about it or see it as pointless. Would love to see a bit more documentation on it
I have a CE- 3 from the 80's ,it's still phenomenal pedal
I’m definitely a boutique pedal guy, but could build a Boss rig I’d enjoy any day of the week.
I think the first jam sounded really Robin Trower, and yes Boss are amazing pedals and when I have sold one of my kids, there will be more of them on my board 🤣
- Rob, is Boss still The Boss?
- Absolutely.
The End.
The Boss SD-1 is the best sounding overdrive pedal I have ever played. Use a SD-1 as a "tube screamer" in front of another drive pedal with a bit more gain on it, oh my god. That's all you need.
Boss, EHX, Source Audio, TC Nova in various combinations.
I still have a few of each, but mostly use my Line 6 HX-Effects, sounds good, versatile and compact.
I have at least a dozen different patches of pedal boards that cover just about everything
Great to see Chappers back !
My 6 in board order: Tuner, Octave, Super Overdrive, Angry Driver, Dimension C, Delay (not fussed about which one honestly).
My favorite dirt pedal is the DA-2, but since neither it nor the DS-1X are on the table, I’ll go with the JB-2 and the OD-1X. The I’ll go with the DC-2w because chorus is my favorite modulation, and the DC-2w is my favorite chorus. Then a DD-8 and an RV-6 for my delay and reverb needs. (I’m not willing to rely on an unknown amp for reverb.) And then, for the wildcard, the SY-1.
Captain - need to have the synth pedal (SY-1). Amazing sounds and tracks fantastic! :)
Everyone forgets how good Boss are. We could all play boss only boards and be just fine. Especially nowadays.
You've just described 1992.
I bought my first BOSS pedal in 1981 and it still works like new after gigging for many years with it. Built like tanks.
I own a BD-2 which I LOVE -(the jhs/boss angry driver is on my bucket list), I've had a Boss tremolo (sold it because it would attenuate my level), I have a DS-1. Surprisingly they didn't pick the space echo(I have a NUX clone 👍). Always wanted a gigadelay, and all these new delays they've put out recently- a but too pricey but fabulous sounds. AND like everyone says, they are built like tanks.
that Boss Slicer sounded freaking amazing!
Lee's playing is soo good! The first jam's leads sounded very Lukatherish :)
I have many boss pedals can't go wrong I love them there pretty awesome 😎
I have DS1, Blues Driver, Bass over drive pedal, super over drive pedal and a tuner pedal
Lee, you are playing great, sounds like Prince's board. Especially with the octave on!
