  • Every photograph you make is a story. The characters you add and the composition you employ help you advance the plot. But no photographic story is truly complete without beautiful light. Great light, whether it is found or created is like the score in a movie, it gives a story depth, emotion, and direction. Jared Platt is a master at shaping light and will teach you how to enhance the natural light you find with simple to use flash techniques to make your photographs truly sing!
    Learn how to make ordinary light, extraordinary with flash, and give the light in your photographs a stronger voice. Join Jared and Profoto at the B&H Event Space and learn how to create beautiful light with the Profoto A1 (the world’s smallest studio light). This class is great for photographers with and without flash experience, professional, and enthusiasts alike.

    Great way of teaching lighting by working with the direction of natural light instead of trying to overpower or work against the light. Best saying work smarter not harder!!! That saying works with any type of job not just for photography. I have used that philosophy ever since my first job.

    I don't even go to a photo shoot without a full range of lighting and modifiers. The variety of styles and looks makes natural light only a distant second (especially in Phoenix where I'm also at)

    The tethering issue I once was aware to be a Lightroom/Canon combination caused problem, if the computer or camera goes to standby. You must restart tethering completely then, to do so, 1. disconnect and power off cam, 2. stop tethering tool of Lr, 3. start tethering tool, 4. power on and connect cam. To avoid this, ensure camera and computer do not go to sleep mode.

    • @kenlor71
      @kenlor71 Před 4 lety

      So the secret would be to adjust camera and computer settings as to NOT go into sleep or standby mode. Right?

    Jared Platt is an instructor that is a cut above the others. He teaches you that only learning how to use the tools will not make you a photographer. You have to learn how to take those tools and create an artistic expression.

      He probably went to the history and clicked before he added the light (which he probably did as the last thing in LR). I hope this helps.

    The language we use is not light. The language is our subjects. Light is an aspect of their form, and SECONDARY OR LESS to the essence of the subject.

    While the speakers at B&H have some great insights to impart, many could stand to tighten their presentations considerably. I only got nine minutes into this talk, but the speaker had wandered off topic already. Please, edit your talks as much as you would edit your photos. Although I value the insights these speakers bring, these insights would be better delivered in tighter talks.
