Lemosho Route on Mount Kilimanjaro (Why We Love It)

- When it comes to picking a route for climbing Kilimanjaro, we definitely have our favorites. There are 7 main routes on the mountain. While other companies mostly operate on the popular Marangu and Machame routes, we at Ultimate Kilimanjaro primarily guide on one specific route - the 8 day Lemosho. In fact, almost 70% of all our climbs utilize this route.
In this video, we provide an overview of the Lemosho route and discuss what makes this our number one choice for tackling Kilimanjaro. To thoroughly evaluate a route, one must consider the main factors that make a route more or less favorable to climbers. These are difficulty, scenery, crowds, acclimatization, and cost.
We prefer the routes with the most favorable combination of high success rates, excellent scenery, and low foot traffic. These are the attributes that our clients find the most important for their experience. And the 8 day Lemosho route fits these criteria the best. It’s our preferred route for this reason. Most of our clients use the Lemosho route and they consistently report that they love it. And we know you will too.

If I have a bad knee for going down, which is the best route? Thanks
Rongai and Marangu are better for your knees. They have gentler descents.
Why would you rate 3 for cost if it is very expensive... surely more cost is bad...
For some categories, a high score meant a favorable condition (scenery, acclimatization) while others it meant a unfavorable condition (difficulty, crowds, cost). We used the stars to indicate low (one star), medium (two stars) or high (three stars) regardless of which type of category it fell in, for consistency. For instance, difficulty got three stars for it being a hard trail. Likewise for cost, it got three stars for a high cost.
