- Is this Fords best kept secret??? I have had 3 of these trucks and have no idea! It adds some fun for sure!
Check engine light is on because I changed tire size using forscan due to the 37s and at that time there was no bug fix to take the code away.

Save y'all the trouble of waiting, skip to 5:30. It's a double tap on the traction control button.
GM guy here who is converting to Ford and develops class 8 trucks for a living. I assume AdvanceTrac to be Fords traction / stability control. I imagine “Sport Mode” in the stability system specifically allows for wheel spin and increased yaw rate (sideways sliding) before the system reduces engine power. It may also affect acceleration and deceleration limiters somehow, maybe due to stock tires or something else. I highly doubt whacking the Traction Control button is going to change transmission shift schedules or engine torque curves, or even throttle mapping. The AdvanceTrac is probably a somewhat stand-alone system that is on all drivetrain configurations, hence why it works on multiple GVWS / trims. Great videos man, based on a test drive and what I’ve watched from you I will be buying a 6.7 Super Duty some time in the future!
There's a chart that shows this in the F250 owner's manual, page 229. Double press puts AdvanceTrack in sport mode which reduces the sensitivity of the traction control. Hold the button for 5 seconds and it will disable traction control. This does not change the transmission shifting or anything like that. On the F150 you can do the same thing with the AdvanceTrack, but the F150 also has a sport drive mode that changes the way the transmission shifts (and changes throttle sensitivity).
I went out to my 2020 F250 XL to see if I have the Sport Mode capability. I tried it this morning while driving to bible studies and it works. I have a 6.2L gas engine. Your video got my curiosity aroused and just had to see if Sport Mode existed and could be activated on my Super Duty. Yep, it does. Thanks for info 👍🏽🙂
I knew I found it by accident like 2 years ago and honestly I love it because it lets you get a little wag but not to much I have a Lariat and a King Ranch
I have a 2020 STX 350 dually and I just checked and it has it!! I can’t wait to head to work in the morning and see what it does!!! Thank you!!!
My 2020 F250 Lariat Diesel has the Sport Mode. I activated it as you've described. Thanks for sharing. I'll try it out tomorrow. After watching your video, I forgot that this truck has an eco mode. On the other hand, who wants that. lol I took delivery of mine in early March; awesome powerhouse truck.
Hey, love your videos. Just tried on my 2019 xlt and it worked. Sport mode!!!
When your early and don't know what to write
Awesome man! It worked for my 2019 XLT. Thank you!
So if you hold the Advance Trac button down for 10 seconds it will turn off the Advance Trac and Stabila-Trac off, then you can put it in tow haul then it will get plum side ways. Especially if you have a 2017 F250 Lariat rolling on 35's putting 526hp and 1076lb ft of torque to the ground,
Thanks,
Tony McAdams
Wow!!! I got it to work on my 2020 F-450 Limited!!! If you are using MyKey you have to get into the programming part and on the settings of traction control set it to user select. I did what you said to do on your video and it changes how the truck drives!!! The only changes I have on this truck is an S&B Air Intake and 5” Banks Exhaust Kit. Omg what a difference especially shifting and taking off!!! I love it and thanks for that tip!!! ❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It shifts on the fly. Compared to not having it on when I floor it....the truck has a 2-4 second delay on take off till it shifts. Going to talk to the Ford Techs tomorrow since I have to bring it in for a camera recall. Also bring up the regen info.
Thanks bro got a 2017 f350 dually and now I’m on my way to next gig in SPORT MODE! 😎
My 2019 XLT f250 gas engine has it, never new about this feature until now, its more fun to drive on the back roads,
Makes a huge performance difference even when towing my trailer.
Great video
You’re full of it. There’s no performance to it. Just changes how traction control reacts to sliding.
@@CatRichardBojangles so that has nothing to do with performance?
@@bobwilcox2657 no it’s just traction control.
Acceleration, torque handling ,traction and braking
Are ways to rate the performance of any vehicle. Any time you can increase or decrease traction you are changing the performance of the vehicle @CatRichardBojangles
Let me explain the difference in the modes:
Traction control uses ABS to keep your wheels from spinning when you are pushing the gas pedal when tires are losing their grip on the road.
AdvanceTrac is made up of Traction control and Electronic Stability Control. ESC helps prevent sideways sliding and skidding. ESC adjusts brake pressure and engine control.
AdvanceTrac Sport Mode allows you to have a setting that allows more rear-end sliding before it kicks in. It's more lenient than regular AdvanceTrac.
‘19 Lariat - works for me! Can’t wait to get some real drive time in!
my 2020 7.3 gasser has it too. Sweet! Thanks for the vid man!
Just picked up my new 2021 F350 XLT from the dealer and tried it on the way home, works awesome.
I have a 2019 F250 STX FX4 6.2L V8 and it has it! Great find!
Hold the traction control button down and it will disengage it all
Got a 2020 Lariat 250 just tried it and works!
I used to do this and cancel it on my 13 F150 because it would improve my mileage by a good 1mpg on the highway
What I’ve noticed a difference between the tow haul and the sport mode in my truck. Is when pulling my gooseneck taking same road same weight. In tow haul I was getting 9to10 mpg traveling 75 and it downshift up shift up and down the hills. In the sport mode I got 11to 13mpg rpms stayed at the same gears wasn’t shifting in and out.
I’ve been a follower of your channel for some time. Just watched this video. Also, just verified my 2017 Lariat 6.7 - it has it.... game changer!
However, I had to turn Adv Trac off, then off and then quickly double tap the asdv Trac for the Sport mode to appear.
Tried this on my '19 F450 Platinum and it worked. Haven't had time to play with it yet to see what difference it makes, I had a load in the back.
HOLY CRAP! My 2017 F350 DRW has sport mode!!! LOL never knew! Thanks!
I’ve known about Sport mode on F250’s for years, my 2017 had it and so does my 2020. I’ve hammered both trying to figure it out and I can’t tell a difference.
I have a 2020 XL and it does work, thats awesome, thanks
2017 F250 6.7L Platinum - works! Thanks for the tip.
Thumbs up on the info... I had no clue.... I will give it a try tomorrow.... that tech guy is awesome I've been following him for awhile too.... good scoop dude.
So secondary slightly off topic comment. I'm no tree hugger..even though I am in Cali.....raced dirt bikes...been to the world finals in jet ski races. Banks makes alot of sense for modern diesels....ever thought of reaching out to him?
Just tried it on my 2020 F350 Platinum. Works. Noticeable difference.
Just checked my 2020 Lariat Sport.
Sport Mode activated! I’m gonna try it out in the AM. 👍🏼🇺🇸
Canadian bro! This is your body from Washington State. pretty close to Canada but I just have to say thank you very much. I watch all your videos I take your advice I have the bank's super gauge and paddle monster in my 2019 F350 and now with sport mode on top of that ! In a word.....WOW!!! I was spanking my cousins Chevrolet Is in stock mode now a sport mode and the upgrades he won't even see me go by it'll just be a red blur and tail lights. Hahahahaha thank you very much bro!! Keep up the great work!
Hahaha that’s awesome man!
Just tried my 20 KR 250 7.3 TREMOR,, she's got it. TKS 🇺🇸
Just turned it on in my 19 Lariat.. Never knew it was there.. 👍🏾
My tremor has this too. My 2014 raptor has the feature but you press the button once instead of double press. It allows for some wheelspin but will save you if you go full mustang driver.
My 2019 lariat has it!! Trying it out now..
Wow, 2017 has some life to it now
Hi there! first time seeing your channel. Just my .02, my 17 half-ton f150 has the driving modes on a right hand stalk on the column. But, similarly, my traction button has traction modes. My AdvancTrak sport mode provides cornering-while-speeding through curves. Here's another, on your pickup, from the "on" position, hold the traction button for 5 seconds and see what results flash on the screen. Thanks, later on.
All 2017+ super dutys and 2015+ f150s pickup have this. Double press the traction control button. All it does is change the parameters for the advance trac. You still can't slide the truck sideways, but it gives you more leeway for spinning the tires. I "found" this when trying donuts with my 2016 f150 in the snow. If you want the have better mileage. Use the engine brake all the time it locks the TC more often. If you want to go faster off the line press and hold the traction control for 5 seconds. That defeats all parameters except rolling and extreme sideways movement(prolonged drifting). The advance trac has no bearing on transmission fuction
Thanks, 2020 F350 DRW in sport mode! Nice!
just tried it in my 19 6.7 and it worked, sweet!
Always watch the Arod man!! He's awesome! My 2017 has it... Found out about it in one of the facebook groups i'm in years ago... Shoulda told ya about that... my bad!!
Ryan Torres Shame on you
workplaytv lol! At least you were able to make this video!
Wife has my 19 F450 Lariat Ultimate out right now, but when it gets back, I'm going to see if I have it.
My 2017 Lariat F350 had it and I never even thought to check my F450.
My 18 lariat powerstroke has it😎👍thanks for the info!
Thanks for the tip, Couldn't help but notice your check engine lite was on .
I’ve got a 2020 xlt and worked on mine!!! Thank You for that
I HAVE A 2017 F350 KING RANCH AND I DO HAVE IT , NEVER NEW THIS TILL NOW. CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT TO SEE IF THERE IS A DIFERANCE . I COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING IN THE OWNERS MANUAL ON THIS. THANKS FOR THE INFO.
Wasn’t aware your speedometer was in kmh and was pretty impressed for a while. Still impressed but I think you get the idea
I have a 2019 f350 6.7. It also has sport mode. I was closely checking it out to try and figure out the difference if any. What I found so far was the turbo would spool up faster and higher. I also noticed that while coasting the turbo would drop down to 0 .9psi instead of 0.5psi. So it seems to stay spooled up a bit higher. I have a Derringer so I can read the actual psi from the turbo. I'm going to keep playing with it to see if I can find anything else.
Yep… worked, not sure what exactly was going on, but the turbo lag I normally experience was gone. Just stomp the pedal and it lit up. Was awesome!
So sick!!! My 2019 xlt has it.
Okay, so my 2019 F450 has sport.mode. here's my thoughts on it. First, it's really cool. It's very "zippy" for such a beast of a truck. As I recall, it seemed to.unlock some zippy-ness in my 2017 F350 SRW as well.
My feeling is that it relaxes some if the torque management that Ford has programmed into the computer to help protect the drivetrain.
Does anyone else agree with this?
Thanks for the info. It works on my 21 F350 dually.
Had in my 2017 F-150 and now my 2020 F-250 Lariat...It holds the gears longer per what I was told! Off the line and when passing or playing! 😁
Just placed an order on my first ever diesel truck, worked my ass off for years and I just ordered a custom 2021 F250 XLT with the 6.7 and center console, can’t wait, truck is in production now!
Awesome! Congrats man
@@workplaytv Thanks Brother!
My 2019 6.2 xlt has it!!! Been jamming around all morning lol
I have the same. Im not able to do it right now because of too many adult beverages. What did you notice?
@@dtrisdale it seems like its holding gear a little longer, almost like tow haul without the engine brake, idk if its just me but seems like I get better gas mileage with it, which doesn't make sense but definitely looks like it
Love your videos man! Currently running a one man plumbing shop. Would love to get into your kind of work in the states. Any tips would be appreciated. I have a 2017 f250 platinum 6.7
Eric Johnson message me on instagram @workpkaytv
Just checked my 2019 f250 XLT texas edition and n.v it has it. Very kool. Thanks
Thank you it works on my 2017 f250 platinum 👌🤝
Damn, I'm late to the party but I cannot wait t try my 2019 XLT Super duty in the morning! 😜
🤔 pretty cool! I didn't know about this!
Just tried it on my 2017 F250 Lariat and it works ! 35's spinning on wet spots in the road !
i have a 2019 250 and it worked on mine thanks for the info man!!
I tried it in my 2018 XLT and it did not have the sport mode. But thanks for the video. New subscriber.
That’s cool. I got it. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Have a 2018 xlt powerstrokehelp and the sport mode works. Damn a lot of fun😎
I found this out last month. This is what it says on google. "AdvanceTrac Sport Mode, activated by double-tapping the traction control button, *only* affects the traction control. It lowers the thresholds a bit... you can have a little fun, but it won't let you do anything too stupid". I found out that if you press the button once and wait half a second then hit it again it activates it. I did it to quickly and it just does trac control off.
Max power in Sport mode plus sand and snow mode together is one way to burn the rear tires off 😂
This is def a thing 20 F250 7.3 V8 - I ran it with Reg Traction on and w/ Sport Mode from a stop 0-40mph it def shifted diff. felt like a extra shift in there in Reg Traction Mode and felt it slow a bit with the extra shift. Yeah Sport Mode!!
Bro get to the point and show us or just don’t make a video
Took a little to learn how fast to push button, but it works on a
2018 F250 6.2 xl 2wd.
Sport mode allows for more "spirited driving" hold it down and advance track turns off.
Gets the wheels spinning too
Have to go out later will definitely try it on my 17 f350 lariat 6.7😁😁
Nice find man!
Great video
Apparently the sport mode advance track isn't the same as sport mode/tow haul. The advance track just let's the tires let loose a little easier versus SM/TH changes your shift points. Just my experience anyways with.my 17 f150
Great video The reason it didn't work on some of your friends trucks was because not all superdutys come with Sport Mode. I didn't have it on my f350 but I have it on my f250 I guess you don't know till you try it.
I just check it out in my 2020 F-250 XLT w/ the 7.3L and I have Sport Mode
It worked on my 2021 STX, NICE POWER
Saw the video, have a 2019 SD Power stroke Lariat with xtras. I use it solely for hauling. However, I tried this and it works.
It seemed crazy/nasty once the turbos kicked in. Not sure about hauling a load, but it did seem to haul ass quite well.
Doubt I will use the feature much unless I have a Duramax or Ram perched on my bumper! 😁
My 2020 lariat 6.7 has sport mode!! Thanks for the hack!! New Glasgow N.S.
Richard Dunbar Hows it going up there buddy??
workplaytv all good bud, I’m interested to see the reply from the ford tec about what the sport mode does!
My f-350 powerstroke lariat has it too. I never knew about that option before haha
I have 2019 F-250 Lariat it has it. Thanks 👍
I have a 2017 F 250 with a 6.2 I tried it and it works in. XLT
I have a 2017 Larriat, will find out tomorrow if I have it! Thanks!!!! UPDATE!!!! I do have IT!!!SPORT MODE!!! Thanks feels good and strong!
My 2019 F250 4X4 6.2L XLT has this.
Info on this is provided on pages 226 and 229 in my owner's manual.
All that happens is you are configuring the AdvanceTrac Systems identical to what the truck does automatically when placed in 4X4 Low.
In other words, you are disabling all three of the AdvanceTrac Systems while in 2 High.
I have 2017 f250 platinum. Gonna give it a try on way to work tomorrow. Thanks.
2020 and your check engine light is on?
Hopefully the '19 F-350 king ranch dually has it, will definitely kick ass on the road
happy to say my 2018 XLT has sport mode!!! WEEEEEEEE
I’m gonna try that on my king ranch 2020 tomorrow!
Thanks Dude!
My 2020 F350 Tremor has it tried after I watched youre video ... its does hold the gears a lil longer an its a lil snappier.. I have the 7.3 gas 4.30 rear
Loving my ‘15 F150 in sport mode. Spins 35’s like nothing For the 150, it’s longer shift point and stays in the rev range longer. More smiles per mile.
Just tried this on my 2018 f350 and it works.
Thank you, I didn’t know that. I have a 2019 F350 and it worked
Manual tells you what it disables. Try deep snow & sand mode for a little more fun!
2017 XL has it. Hold down until advancetrac turns off the double tap the button right away
My 2020 Platinum FX4 has it. Manul covers it in a matrix on page 228. It reduces sensitivity for electronic stability control and less sensitivity on traction control. Can't tell about driving behavior, wife's car's parked in front of me LOL
tworotdoggs Hahaha
It worked on my 2019 F250 6.7 XLT.
Add the UV window film to your cab, will greatly reduce the heat!
Just get to the point man!
My 2020 Platinum has it. I had to jump up from this video and take a rip around the block.
Hahahaha
I just did the same. 😜
