His hands on, in & amongst the players during training is what the players really need, he's got a lot of energy to get the players fired up & passionate again.
Unai Emery beat Bayern with Villareal, a very modest team. On the other hand, Xavi could not win a single game against Bayern despite having invested 150 million in transfers. Unai is a great coach. You just have to give him time.

I like that he gets involved with the training, and stops it half way through a drill to talk to them to what he wants them to do and what they should be doing.
We didnt just bring in a manager. We brought in a coach. So excited to see where unai can take aston villa. The future is bright. Just have to trust and back the man.
He's directly involved with the training and energetic and nimble for a 50 year old. Given time he will sort it out and produce a team with a winning mentality that will be tough to beat - just what we need!

Very interesting to see in his 1st training session he’s got them transitioning into a high press something we didn’t see under Gerrard, it’ll be interesting to see how he utilises that in the future especially against the teams where we’ll have less of the ball.

Thing is it isn't even a case of there being a good player in there somewhere, he's shown he's a good player when he's played and just had to lose out to McGinn constantly which is baffling

The game against Ukraine at Hampden and Scotland won 3-0 McGinn 's heat map statistics for that game he was in and around the box 80% of the time , for Villa you would be lucky for him to register 30% of the time in and around the box that's the reason there is a difference in performance and therefore has less of a impact in games . McGinn was not the main problem as a player it was what he was being asked to do from firstly Deano and it continued with Gerrard both managers had him player a more deeper position and at times having to cover as a right -back during games when Matty Cash bombing forward and him being caught out of position . McGinn would probably be a better option as a number 10 than Buendia . McGinn's international stats as a number 10 for Scotland is evidence . McGinn at international level is a number 10 for Scotland scoring 15 goals and 6 assists in the last 35 games for Scotland. Where is your evidence that McGinn would not be better suited as a number 10 for villa ?

Impressed already! Best football n enthusiasm in this training than I've seen all season! And unlike Gerro Unai is actually get stuck in on the training ground! Gerro tried to keep distance n let coaches do the work, but jeceuf have been better using his huge talent to be part of training on the ball......wasted opportunity. He played it all wrong, by being part of sessions on the ball players wud have learnt more n been into his plan more. 🙏

Might be a bit too soon for us. United are playing well at the moment and they are really starting to do what Ten Hag wants. I hate to say it, but just like last year the season is just a chance for the new manager to look and see what he *really* wants to do. The World Cup is probably good for us as we don’t have too many players going (Emi, Cash?) so we can get a mini pre season in at Bodymoor and look organised in January.
