    Same here. I was brought up with older music. Eventually I did discover some gems from my own era, but for the most part I tend to enjoy music that was produced years ago much more than I enjoy what is produced today. Your comments also prove to me that those who are younger and enjoy older music are far more articulate than those who do not:) Thanks for stopping by!

    Used to hear this song every morning in 67 on 920 KELP in El Paso, TX.
    They had a smooth style for just two, but the studios dubbed in a lot of stuff too.
    Great memories of a time long ago.
    Peter Asher is still living and good at re-creating that era in a scholarly way as well as an artistic one.

    Yeah he definitely doesn't have that level of fame, and even "if" he did all that I meant to express was that the culture is vastly different now and I don't think that too many modern artists will be remembered the way that the older ones are.

    One of their hit songs and with a good message. The girl of the song did striptease but her long hair covered her body so she showed nothing. A man convinced her to be a star and removed her hair showing her all. This illustrates very well we should be careful when accepting offers for doing something as the contracts may force us into doing things we do not want to do.

    Furthermore P&G's music is still being listened to, appreciated, and covered (Alex Day!) forty plus years on. Will you be able to say that about Alex in forty years? I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it. No disrespect to Mr. Day. His cover was cute, and a good effort, but P&G will always remain the tops. They reached a height of popularity in their time that Alex Day can only dream of.

    As I said many people can barely remember bands from the 90's, it's just a different culture today and musicians- deserving or not- don't tend to achieve legendary status any longer. The industry has changed. So I really doubt that Alex will live on. As I said, I could be wrong. But I really doubt it. And since I did say that I "could be wrong" this comment is my opinion, and like everyone I am entitled to it without being cussed at.

    You cannot speak for your entire generation, as I see a lot of young people at YT and elsewhere who love older music. BUT- I guess they felt that I was spreading "hate". Thank you for seeing that I wasn't:)

    I was fair. The previous poster wanted to claim that he had made them "more popular" than they had ever been, which was grossly incorrect. I merely corrected the error. Yes, his cover is drawing attention for P&G- a good thing. BUT to REALLY be fair, I am only 33 yrs old. I wasn't even born when P&G were at their height, and I have known about them and liked them since I was 12. If you have a broader interest in music than just what the media pushes or YT makes popular, then you'd know them.

  • @Serenadesong
    @Serenadesong  Před 12 lety +3

    In the meantime the comments posted here have taken a decidedly cruel turn. I am TOTALLY for the right to have your own opinion, and those who love and prefer Alex have been well represented in the comments section already. To continue posting about his "superiority" at this point is to begin disrespecting P&G, whom I adore. Not to mention the flat out ugliness directed at ME PERSONALLY. So with all respect, any further comments pertaining to Alex Day will no longer be posted. Thank you.

  • @Serenadesong
    @Serenadesong  Před 12 lety +2

    Geesh! I am NOT hating on anyone. Please read what I write before commenting. When people first began viewing this video due to Alex I was friendly and accepting of all different opinions. But when I disagreed with JUST ONE issue- that P&G were famous before Alex- I started getting comments swearing at me, which I am NOT cool with, so I wrote what I did below. I already explained why I posted a video of a 60's band- because the culture was different then and these musicians tend to live on.

  • @Serenadesong
    @Serenadesong  Před 12 lety +1

    As for Day's future popularity, I am not a gypsy and cannot read the future, but based on all evidence he will not be popular in forty years time. Again I mean this with all due respect, but P&G, Elvis, The Beatles, etc. came from a VASTLY different era when women would scream for musicians and celebrities were larger than life. The era they hailed from has helped to propel them, along with their talent, to legendary status. The culture today is VERY different and few if any achieve this status.

    Very true- a snare clap, a repetitive synth and an auto-tuned voice does not always add up to a great song. In fact, with a few exceptions, it rarely works to me. In the 1960's you had lush orchestration on songs and if you even wanted to be suggestive with your lyrics you had to think up a very subtle and clever way to do it.
    Judging by your username I am guessing that you're a teen? Which if so proves what I stated below. There are young people who know and love older music.
