Steve and Adam being mad about learning things on tiktok just made me want to call them boomers. Jfc guys. That was a college course on city planning 101 given in the span of 40 seconds.
A big issue with buses in North America (in a lot of cities) is the lack of dedicated bus lanes. The buses get stuck in traffic so it's not really any faster than taking a car.
In many cities (not all) in Europe and elsewhere in the World you can find bus lanes which make them faster than cars. (In some places taxis and maybe electric vehicles or motorcycles etc. can use them as well)
One video in, and Steve has proven that he refuses to have his brain turned on when using Tik Tok.

Really liked the first TikTok because it spoke my language [leading to the public transit discussion]. I have no doubt the news cycle has long since moved on for people outside of Ottawa, but I can assure you, the LRT system Ottawa has is still painful. The train axle specifications, something I would consider important, were bungled and need a re-design. The buses approaching train stops put out patronizing "don't hold the doors open because another train will arrive soon" even though Ottawa knows full well there are dozens of other reasons why the train breaks down, rain, snow, or shine. This strains an already broken bus system, because buses have to be pulled away from routes to mimic the train, traveling the same routes buses did before the train. Ottawa really earns its nickname Autowa.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be pretentious, but I really think most people know the word "homeostasis" and learned it in 7th grade. Even if most people don't know the word, they should be able to figure out the meaning from the root words involved. I don't like the trend towards people acting like pretty normal words are somehow arcane and unknowable.
Yeah sorry Steve but when I hear "nobody knows what homeostasis means" what I actually hear is "I slept through 9th grade biology class" because I'm pretty sure most people watching do actually lol

For the talk about public transportation vs driving and stuff - I found it interesting that the 2 people who have kids are the 2 people who don’t care. You’d think the 2 people who brought life into this world would be the 2 that are most passionate about making things better for the next generations.

On the tiktok of tidying the house before guests come over, I am a location scout in film and TV and I have to go into people's houses to take photos to present to directors, cinematographers etc, all the time. I have scouted hundreds of houses over the last 10 years and pretty much for every single house I go into, the owner says 'sorry about the mess', regardless of what the interior looks like. This is across all points of the scale, for homes where the owner is a hoarder up to their cleaner has clearly just finished and the house looks spotless like a show home. I often end up cold calling on people's doors and they invite me in without any warning of a guest coming over or any time to tidy up, and most people's houses look lived in just like mine, and just like everyone else's. It's a funny charade that we all go through.

This is so true about the train. Took my daughter to Ripleys over the summer. Took the train, last train to T.O. from King City, I had to drop my wife and daughter off at the station and park on a side street down the road and run to make the train lol. They had 3 different parking lots for the go train. All full...I will add i also avoided a parking ticket!

My favorite donut shop is Gourmet Donuts & Coffee in Walnut Grove BC. You will know by the interior photos that it might have been a Robins Donuts at one point or at minimum just a blatant copycat of it. It's the best. The donut selection is absolutely banana sandwich crazy good. If you're in the area, treat yourself to old school awesome.

9:12 Toronto is designed fine, Mississauga and Brampton and North York and Scarborough ect. are not designed fine, the suburbs are the problem. But it is solvable, slowly overtime, if the people in those communities accept and understand this stuff and allow for upzoning, gradual redevelopment and other changes. The thing is is that the transision will be painful and will make traffic worse initially, since building the transit infrastructure will impact traffic before that infrastructure is up and running, and there will inevitably be issues with construction *cough* *line 5* *cough cough*

I really like the concept of this, but spending nearly a quarter of the episode talking about Toronto's poor transit is a bit disappointing. Also, you REALLY should credit the accounts' clips you react to. If not putting them in the description, at least not cropping out their handles from the videos.
