Watching this on my Macbook and the intro studio shot legitimately looks better on the iPhone than the Canon. The sharpness looks practically identical and the colour of your beard is slightly more pleasing on the iPhone. Insane potential.
Would be there an option to preview iPhone camera on iPad without the subscription of Final Cut?
Thanks for sharing! I should some social-first video content for my social media clients. I'll definitely be using this app for some projects. Having a bit more controls helps a ton. Especially white balance.
Would be nice if LOG had a display lut or gamma assist
Do you have a similar clamp for iPad?
Got any thoughts on what second iphone to buy to be a b-cam to an iphone 15 pro? Would a 12 or a 13 be good?
any timestamping? if you want to line up multiple clips when editing
I was hoping you would make this video 😄
I was even looking for it After release before reluctantly watching someone else.
Well thanks for still watching 😅 I planned to be there for release but when we recorded the podcast and realized there was no live switching, I had to change the plan
Hey Tyler. Thankyou. I use the cinematic setting quite a bit… I assume that this is really not happening with this app.
No, cinematic mode is still only compatible with hevc videos in the default camera app
Awesome video as always, bro what ipad do you use in your day to day life, and how many inches?
I wish I could do this with a mac instead of ipad
Nice, but how can you sync external audio devices? (Like zoom recorders…)?
What’s the max distance between the iPad and iPhone before it’s starts lagging or lose the connection altogether?
Hi Tyler. Thanks for this. Could you compare Final Cut Camera vs Blackmagic Camera vs Kino? Of course you can do a future video, but if you can tell your preference in a few sentences would be awesome imho.
Using HEVC+HDR, are the videos from Final Cut Camera "overly sharpened" similar to videos recorded using the stock camera app?
Is it possible to use LOG on iPhone 14 Pro?
Been waiting for this 🎉 Thoughts on the m2 air’s capabilities to do the above?
I really hope they bring all these features to the Mac, seems like all their FCP attention has gone to iPad lately
Can you use this for streaming? I mean, streaming the multicam from the iPad into OBS. I started using continuity camera in OBS a couple of months ago, and while it works really well, there is no way to adjust the white balance, so I went back to a Sony camera with a Camlink 4K.
Can you still record the files to an external SSD? And transfer them that way while editing the proxy files? Seems like that would be the quickest, or better yet just edit off the external SSD without transferring the files at all
FINALLY
How to get macro shots on Final Cut camera?
You the option now to lock WB with the default app during recording. It's not the same as dialling in manually, but works better for run n gun.
But how dies it compare with other camera apps?
0:37 damn. what is this rough case for the iPad? Is that Spiget brand?
So i used Final Cut Camera for a recent shoot - recording HEVC SDR 4k 30 to an external USB-C drive....the second half of my 4 hour event is just missing! my drive was hardmounted to the back of my phone, extremely heartbroken and frustrating, almost impossible to diagnose what the issue could have been even though i know each time i hit record i saw the indicator at the bottom of the screen showing its recorded externally
TLDR please be careful and do some test shoots before using this new app
Would be nice if these could be forced to save to the camera roll (if the format/extension were supported)
Yeah I thought it would be an option
Is it possible to use FCP on the Mac with this app or only the iPad? And if you can only use it with the iPad what is the best way to move the files to the Mac?
It's only on the iPad, hopefully it comes to Mac. 90% of the time I AirDrop my files to the Mac but if they're really big then the app iMazing lets you download from your phone as if its a normal camera
@@stalman if I’m correct can you plug-in an SD drive into the iPhone and download it to the Drive and then edit ride from the drive?
hi, how do i get out of video mode into stills mode please
Final Cut is all about video, for a great stills camera I'd check out Halide
Question: if you record (let’s say on 3 iphones, different angles) the multicam will work only if an iPad is also on and connected?
You can always record Multicam with just a few cameras, all video editing software can sync them later. The iPad just lets your monitor everything and automatically creates the project with the files in place
@@stalmanthank you. Appreciate your reply
I heard that all the phones/Ipads need to be on the same Apple ID in order to connect, is this true?
They do not, as long as they have the app they will connect
I managed to connect another phone with another Apple ID. On the other iPhone camera app you should be able to see the iPad as a device on the list and click on that. Then a code will appear on the iPad asking if you want to allow the iPad to control the other iPhone. You then put the code into the other phone. It has to be paired again the next time you set it up. It works fine on the same WiFi network - but the first time I did this I had to do some turning iPhones on and off before it worked. Hope that helps.
The fact that you can't record LOG in any other format but 422HQ is the one thing that's keeping me from switching to Final Cut camera and buying a license to FCP for iPad. If I could record log to H.265 like I can in BMC, or even 422LT, I'd be all in. I could REALLY use the remote monitor and control feature lol. But I definitely can't use those huge files. Typical apple though, gatekeeping features to force users into apple's preferred work flow instead of allowing us to decide for ourselves how we want to work.
Is there a post workflow to transfer a multicam timeline to Resolve?
I haven’t done it yet but you can import a multicam xml to resolve. It might have to go through a Mac first
@@stalman Thanks Tyler
It’s neat but how many people realistically own multiple iPhones? At least how many own the same newer models at the same time to be able to make use of multicam?
We low use our phones for a lot more than just video and it’s odd to me to tie up my communications device in order to produce a video.
I get it that it’s the only option for some people. That’s fine. It’s just there are likely better multicam solutions out there vs buying four iPhones.
HEVC is h.265
Yeah
So what I’m hearing is use Blackmagic - got it
Or kino, or this app. FCC is still less buggy than BMC and has better stabilization
@@stalman may I ask, what you’ve found buggy on BMC? The benefits are immense and worth using over FCC
@@jaymills1720he can't
This guy is an apple shill, he will defend any apple shit no matter what
@@inferno72229 I don’t get that. He doesn’t make money from Apple. He likes Apple. So do I lol
So one thing that annoyed me about Apple is I have a iPad mini and it’s running a a bionic chip when I went to go download Final Cut on the iPad mini. It wasn’t available because it requires the M1 chip minimum. Kind of annoyed because I’m only using the iPad as a monitor. So I went through to buy a new iPad Air For $1000. I come home and I connect my iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro to run multi cam and it was very cool. I then noticed I have a third iPhone, which is a iPhone mini and I wanted to mess around and run a third camera. And then hit me that the iPhone mini is a a bionic chip, but you’re allowed to download final cut on it and run it smoothly without any problems. so once again, Apple scam us into spending money for new products due to running capitalism on their software. That all being said thank you so much for this video, the quality from the iPhone looks insane.
How to use the camera? - delete it, install the BlackMagic one and use H265 + LOG internally, which the Apple one can't do :)
It’s embarrassing for Apple that 3rd party apps are superior to theirs.
I wish FCC had more features but BMC is also still buggy. Hopefully it will all be better soon
And use a LUT Apple Log to REC.709!
@@FilmaconJuan stalman lut and bmc
@@jaymills1720 Which 3rd party app allows you to shoot Apple ProRes at 16bit internally?
Just wish they'll add manual control to adjust shutter speed.
You can do that
how to take pictures?
The Apple Prores Log only is such a dick move to give it as a feature for the next iPhone. There is no reason that they cannot do that, standard apple way to give a feature to a consumer but not in a meaningful way so that their iPhones wont be used really as what it can do
For the life of me I don’t know why this all couldn’t just be a tab on the native camera app…
I agree but I thought about one of my parents accidentally selecting that and than panic calling me when fill the storage on their phone in 4~5mins lol
Only a few more years now until you can totally replace a DLSR/mirrorless for 95% of work. Canon, Sony and the rest are doing nothing revolutionary, they just keep churning out cameras with more megapixels hoping you'll buy one. Apple and Google are the only ones innovating in photo/video. It's only a matter of time before they figure out how to cheat physics and get the quality of a larger sensor out of a smaller sensor. They have already done it once by perfecting the periscoping lens to get actual optical zoom out of tiny lenses. Once they can achieve the same and get the quality of crop sensor or even an M43 sensor out of a phone, it's game over.
So - is the idea that the people you are doing a podcast or live interview setup with - provide you with their phones for the shoot? - or - are we now expected to all have 3 or more iPhones (and an iPad PRO = the cost a MBP)? personally I only have 1 iPhone - since I trade in my old one for the new one....so we should go buy multiple iPhones now?? I would just rather buy multiple cameras! and vs. a thousand dollar iPad - I would just go get a thousand dollar MacBook and have a FULL version of Final Cut Pro. There was a time when doing stuff on the phone was a cheaper route - I would say that time has come and gone and now its just as expensive (if not more) and essentially HARDER since you have so many workarounds (hard drives, battery life, PORTS) this is crazy to say but - CAMERAS are seem like a WAY better tool for video and photography - but im just a Dinosaur!
it's another option bro, nobody's forcing you to do anything you don't want to
Buy what works best for you and fits your budget. I bet you can pick up a couple iPhone 12 for way less than mirrorless cameras, now you have another option
Hii❤
Whats the point of this ridiculous half-baked product when we already have Blackmagic Camera app which is totally at another level from this apple crap?
BM doesnt integrate with an iPad like this....
@@michaelbell75 well, the amount of features in BM camera outweighs any ipad integration
@@DaMoroshka no it doesn’t
