I appreciate how you give credit to Allen for APC Rinsing Method. How you learnt from him. Humble🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
Totally man! I give credit where it is due!!
I use the APC rinse method now and will never go back. Thanks for bringing that method to light.
Thank you Phil for this video! I did the APC rinse as part of the prep for coating to remove the junk and whatever wax or oil the dealer applied on delivery. It did a much better job than the last time I did prep work. 👍
Phil your videos have helped grow my video this year. I come to you for different techniques to try.
I’ve been adding Extra Tough undiluted to my snow foam shampoo when foaming dirty vehicles. Your method is much more economical. Thanks for a very clear explanation on how to do the APC pre-rinse. Extra Tough is great degreaser and it always arrives intact because they pack it so well for shipment.
Great video Phil!!! Because of your videos, you are the reason I use an APC wash and I love that it works. Mahalo as always!!!🤙🏽🤙🏽
Awesome! Glad we could help!
Yes sir that’s why I use Dark Fury from Superior for my APC rinse. Thanks for this info Phil.👍
Awesome! 😎👍🏼
I've watched a couple of your videos about using an APC as a pre-wash and tried it out yesterday. I was surprised by how much better the results were doing a simple touchless rinse. I will be adding this step to my routine from now on. Thanks for the videos.
Hi. That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing!
I love this channel, great work
Great video. On dirty cars I love to use APC from BILT Hamber ( Surfex HD ) and foam on top of the APC. No pre rise first, Belive its safer for the paint that the dirt is wet befor it flyes of the car from the heavy pressure washer. Saves water to😊 Best regards Kenneth, Norway🇳🇴
Great job you two.
I love pns pearl shampoo.... can be used as a rinseless wash so it really saves on water 💧... Great content as always!
Great narration Phil. I use Extra Tough too! I enjoyed your video and I value your experience and insight....I am now a subscriber!!
Thanks so much!! Welcome!
Sweet vid as always! Just got myself a Shinemaster M15 and some 3D HD Speed. Cant wait to try it out!
Thanks! That’s awesome man! You will love it.
Great review of the APC method. Will defo try it. I normally cheat and add citrus prewash to the Snow-foam solution in the cannon. I’m defo going to to try Rinse-APC-Rinse-Snowfoam including Contact wash and final rinse. The MJJC Pro canon is industry standard in UK. The canon even works well with the Hot Diesel Power Washer.
Lol love the thumbs up and Allen's sound affect haha
The best team! 👍
Right on! I use Xtreme Solutions Tsunami diluted 4:1 or 10:1, depending on the conditions.
Thanks, Phil, great job!!
Tsunami is awesome stuff!
I use this method. It definately prevents swirling possibilities that can happen with a contact wash without a pre-wash. Extra Tough works really well. Gets rid of 99% of the road grime and makes the final result clean and brillant looking. It is great for tires, rims and wheel wells and removes seriously stuck on brake dust as well. Great video!
Thanks!!
I love your videos!!!!!
Awesome video and topic Phil.i tried both ways myself I gain 20 mins and it's not 50 bucks .Lol.
My good friend Darren told me about 6 years ago that people want more but in some cases more Is just more. Lol.hreat job on the truck.b well good friend
APC rinse is 🔥🔥🔥 for a non-maintenance vehicle. Thank you for sharing a key hack for DIY people. I noticed that if I use a foamer the cleaning ability is greater than spray.
Awesome! It’s our SOP for our full details. Works incredibly well
I know this is an older video, but after watching this video and seeing the results, I had to try it. I have a brown Silverado that masks a lot of grime and road film. Once I rinsed the APC pre-rinse off my truck, I couldn’t believe how much it removed! Then I tried it on a customers filthy Range Rover, and once again, amazed at how well it removed the road film / grime. Thank You for this tip and explaining the reasoning behind it.
That’s awesome!! Love hearing feedback like that!! 😎👍🏼
Good video and explanation Phil. I recently picked up the APC step from Pan the Organizer, but with a slightly different method to you. After initial rinse of vehicle, spray the APC on and let it dwell. Then straight over the APC (no rinse), apply foam wash and let it dwell. Then rinse which you are rinsing both the APC and foam wash off at the same time, leaving very little dirt and contaminants if any, on the vehicle for the contact wash. My car is coated with Opti-Coat Pro+ - 2 years ago. Cheers, Ozz.
Thanks! That’s a great method for coated vehicles! Thanks for sharing!
I prefer the apc rinse method in my mobile detail operation. The South Florida weather is very unforgiving. This method is much more effective and efficient. It provides better results and the sealant lasts much longer. My maintenance times are decreased and clients love the results. Happy clients = $$$. 🍻
Thanks for that tip mate.
I used autosmart jet mpc 5:1 worked really well. Will implement it in most of my washes now.
You’re welcome.
Ι love this series
Forensic Detailing Channel has a good video about whether or not to pre-rinse a vehicle.
Yeah I watched it. Every Detailer has to decide for themselves based on the vehicle in front of them. There are no “rules” when it comes to these methods. Whatever the vehicle requires, is what a true Detailer should analyze, not what another Detailer told them. Good info though.
THE APC RINSE FOR THE WIN!!🏆 #no_brainer
Thanks Phil 👊
This was Phill-ed with tons of info.....great job
Have purchased Adam’s Strip but will definitely try the Super Clean. Thanks
Your welcome.
10:1 Greenstar during the winter. Follow with a Sio2 waterless wash at the coin op. I will bring a bucket with soap to hit the tires and wheels quickly.
Great to see BH featured here. Have you tried their Surfex HD pH neutral APC/degreaser? It's my go-to pre-wash at 8% dilution. I follow up with a rinseless wash (Sonax BSD) I haven't had to use a shampoo in over a year as I follow this routine once or twice a week. Car is sealed with Fusso Coat and that makes a huge difference too.
Hi. I have a sample of the Surfex also that I will use soon. Thanks for sharing!
Great video Phil 👍🏻 Living in the UK, I use a pre rinse 99% of the time. I prefer using BH Auto Foam in a pump sprayer and vary the dilution ratio according to how dirty the vehicle is ( generally 1 part product to 9 parts water). Keep the content coming 😀
Wowser, that's a strong blend for the BH. Any issues with alu window trim?
Agree with the APC method, and the new foam cannon is a copy of the Griot’s Garage BOSS Foamer
Bilt hamber auto foam or touchless are best of the best in my opinion ive been using bh products for many years and tried many others over the years
Great stuff. I always have a moment of panic when putting apc on for a pre rinse. Worried about the dulling, but haven't ever had an issue. Just seen others issues haha.
Thanks. The dulling may come from either single stage paint that can stain or a bad repaint job and the clear coat is already starting to fail or have issues. But who knows, some people either apply to much and wait to long to rinse it off.
I've been using the APC method since I got my car...which has been for a month and 2 weeks now!! Still, it's been steady and dependable in getting my ride clean.
That’s awesome!! 😎👍🏼
Good video. A lot of dealerships moving to the method. Even adding a little APC to the wash bucket during the contact wash. , then quick dry and then iron remover or clay then iron remover whatever works. Either way good video
I use APC pre soak for cars that really need it. Otherwise I just use snow foam. I keep my options open and always try the least aggressive method that I believe will work.
Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes I’ll use a pre-soak of ONR, applied via chemical sprayer.
Mainly on a car that isn’t filthy dirty
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
Bilt hamber is powerful but you need half of a foam Cannon full to reach the pir. It uses a lot of soap. I'm thinking about switching to monello Lancia. It is the same in price but I've already read you don't need a lot and saw it is able to clean the same.
Yeah I seen the difference with apc rinse right away. Good call. I use Purple Power vehicle and boat wash for my apc rinse. Works good. One question I always forget to ask is, are we suppose to rinse/clean our foam canon's out after every use? Great video. Say hi to the wife.
Hi I don’t worry about singing out the foam cannon after every use. I try to mix up enough solution for 1 or 2 jobs then whatever I have left dump into the wheel or wash bucket and have extra foam. Then I rinse it out and start over again with a new soap. 😎👍🏼
Phil I do pre-washes this way as well! Only difference is I use brake buster 1:1 for this step. That way I know it’s safe on any wheel finish I spray it on. Works well for me! At 1:1 use a bit of product but it’s so cheap I can’t complain!🤣
Awesome. Great tip!
Does the degreaser kill the paint protection too?
APC rinse all the way for cars that are neglected and/or are getting a sealant or coating anyway. I use the on board detergent tank on my pressure washer to spray APC on the lower half of the car (door handles down). If it's a cool day, ill spray apc all at once, let it sit for a few minutes, and then follow up with snowfoam on the rest of car. Finally pressure wash rinse the whole thing, this is all as a pre-wash step before doing a contact wash. I find that in most cases, this process removes most of the loose contaminates from the surface and just leaves me a light layer road down the sides of the car to deal with.
That’s a brilliant idea to use the detergent tank on the pressure washer! I used to do that but I haven’t even thought about it. I may need to figure out a way to do that now.
Hey Phil I have my Extra Tough 4:1 that you told me about don’t have a pump sprayer yet looking into getting an IK or Marolex axel foamer and the ergo. In my past questions that you answered. I’m a DIY guy weekend Warrior . Currently I have my 4:1 in the pump sprayer that came with my extra tough order 32 oz bottle. Going to try it soon but the weather is not the great in CT. Thank you
I use Extra Tough too. I apply it several ways...1) Put the spray bottle nozzle on a fine mist. Saves product and also works great. 2) use a chemical pump sprayer from a garden department, put it on a fine mist and spray. 3) foam cannon or IK foamer. Extra Tough is super foamy and foams very nicely in IK foamer but honestly, the fine mist spray is my personal favorite method. Takes less time and uses less product with the same end result. The other great thing about Extra Tough is if it is hot and the product dries, it doesnt etch the clear coat or glass. Just re-wet it and rinse it off or simply reactivate it with water and continue cleaning. These are my experiences.
Hey Phil,
The Extra Tough link needs to have the in front of the www.extratoughcleaners.com to make it turn blue and work.
Great video!
Exactly! Great suggestions! I do prefer the pump misting bottles also. I find the foam using more product. 😎👍🏼
Phil, really enjoyed this video, I'm convinced an APC pre-rinse is the ticket, effective and economical. I'm diggin' your new MJJC Foam Cannon, great design, looks like its built like a tank, I like the 360° ball so you can rotate it and get it under the truck if your were interested in foaming underneath. I think my cat was hinting she may get me one for my birthday. As a suggestion maybe you could do a video with various APC rinses, 3D, PowerClean, Meg's APC, etc., analyzing their effectivness, brand to brand.
Hi thanks...I have tried Power clean, megs APC, Super Clean, Super Degreaser, Koch Chemie Green and Pol Star and at 1:4 they all have the same effectiveness for APC rinsing. It just comes down to personal choice and budget. 😎👍
@@MirandaDetailing 👍👊🏻
@@MirandaDetailing will super clean stain the paint aint 1 to 4 4 to 1
It will only stain if it dries completely.
@@MirandaDetailing what dilution u dilute superclean
My opinion, having detailed for the past 22 years, owning numerous vehicles and working on plenty over the years. If the vehicle has a good layer of protection then a foam or soap pre-wash is adequate. If the vehicle does not have good protection then an APC pre-wash is preferred. It really comes down to how prepared and slick the paint is as to whether you need to use harsher chemicals to break down bonded contaminants.
Thats exactly what we teach! Excellent info!😎👍🏼
Been using APC in a pump sprayer and then rinse off for a long time. I then foam the car and do contact wash after that and I always get amazing results. I’m surprised that people are barely finding out about APC prewash now
Hi Exactly! I thought the same thing, We have been doing it this way for years now. I still get people asking me why we do it this way, and that we should try this method or that product....when all they need to do it a little research and try it themselves. Some love to watch others here on youtube and copy them without really understanding the process themselves.🤷🏻♂️oh well...watcha gonna do right?
@@MirandaDetailing true and you really see the film being pulled off after spraying it with APC compared to the grime still being on there without APC. I just think they question it because the big dogs don’t do it so they shouldn’t do it too and it’s the wrong way to wash your car. It’s sad but the truth about the detailing community
Exactly. I have found out through experience that many of these “big dogs” of detailing don’t really hustle at detailing to make a living anymore. Guys like Larry for Ammo, Mike Philips from Autogeek and other are amazing and I have learned tons form them. We have implemented many of their methods but, we have found that some methods are unnecessary, they are just shown as options, not as a “rule of detailing”. Detailers have to make up their own minds and find what works for them and never accuse others of not “detailing correctly”. When those accusations fly it really breaks down the detailing community and causes Detailers to stop thinking for themselves, they now are forced to abide by these “dogmatic detailers” who are really just bully’s. It will show their true colors. So I will always be a realist and show the truth even if others bully us, I actively fight it to help others think for themselves! 😎👍🏼
Wow Phil i see the big difference. The apc rince is the way to go. I'm definitely going to start doing this. Does the apc strip the polish and wax? Thanks for the video I was really looking forward to seeing it.👊👍
Using an APC rinse like this for maintenance washing is not needed. It will weaken and break down waxes and sealants after a few times. 90% off our customers vehicles are nasty and need this amount of proper cleaning. That's why our details always start with this process. So if you are washing either your own vehicle or customers vehicles weekly or monthly there is no need to APC rinse, we would just rinse, foam and wash. 😎👍
@@MirandaDetailing ok yeah it's my personal vehicle. That's makes total sense thanks for the reply it cleared that up well. 👊👍
Thanks for the info Phil! I noticed that you didn’t touch the truck box in this video. Isn’t this the same as detailing a trunk of a car? There are multiple variations for truck boxes: Tonneau cover (TC), no TC with ‘plastic’ bed liner, no TC with Linex (spray on protector). How do you handle these? Do you handle and price these differently? TY
You're Welcome, the customer doesn't care about the truck box and told us not to worry about it. but because it is a textured spray if they wanted us to clean it we would simply wash with a soft brush and thats it. most times we see covers and liners that are in work trucks and they can be cleaned more aggressively, apc, soft wheel brush and thats it. sometimes soft tonneau covers we wash with a seperate mitt or MF towel, dry, and apply 303 Aerospace on it.
End result is awesome! Does the APC degrade or strip any waxes or polishes?
Hi. Thanks. Yes this process is for really nasty vehicles that need a fresh start. For maintenance details we don’t use an APC rinse. Just regular rinse and wash per usual.
Loved the content as always. I am assuming during the summer you probably just spray half the vehicle and then immediately rinse off so it won't dry on the paint.
Yeah sometimes that’s the case. The cool thing is the heat will help to make the cleaning action stronger on hot paint. As long as it’s kept wet it’s fine, we can work faster and still get great results.
@@MirandaDetailing awesome! Solid process!
In the winter i bring a bottle of Greenstar 10:1 to the touchless. Spray the whole jeep down and drive through. Id say its 80-90% clean. I will finish with a waterless wash.
Cool tip!! Thanks for sharing!
I'm definitely going to implement this into my details. 👍 thanks Phil... ymyou don't use the APC Meathod on cars your protected right?
Awesome! Correct. APC will weaken protection especially waxes and sealants. So we just let the shampoo handle the cleaning in those situations. 😎👍🏼
@@MirandaDetailing I kind of had that feeling but wanted to ask just in case! Definitely APC rinsing next time.!
I sometimes mix a bit of APC into the snowfoam cannon 👍🏼.
I used to do that also. Thanks 😎👍🏼
To each their own. I will say that for a tough prewash, using the Auto Foam in an 8:1 solution is very thin. Try at least 2:1 or 1:1. Not saying that you should switch your method, just pointing out for those interested that in order to compare apples to apples, 8:1 is quite thin for an APC style wash stage.
Hi. Yeah I did in another video. I used it 1:1 and still thin. But I believe it’s supposed to be that way. Either way it’s way to expensive to use here in the US. Not worth it for us. I know our UK detailers love it because it’s cheap for them.
Hi Phil. Can you put super clean in a marolex pump foamer 5:1 and use it for your APC rinse?
Hi. Oh yeah totally! I have done that before also.
What I used is Bilt Hamber Auto wash instead of their foam which does way better for me.😉😃 Like you I use an APC but the one I use is Bilt Hamber Surfex HD which has many dilutions as well versatile for upholstery, carpets, etc. 😃 the use of the APC prior any foam is known as TFR removal in the UK which I learned that technique years ago and is faster and more efficient for cleaning cars like Allan told you.
TFR is a specific product for removing road traffic film and usually is made up of harsher chemicals, and is not an APC
@@LSD04 yes you use some chemicals like pre wash foam that are specific but if you use Bilt Hamber depending on the dilution can serve as well. In the USA there are not many products available specifically except a few like Ethos Foam Party which is a pre wash.
Hi there! Newly found your channel it is awesome!
I have simple green on hand, can i use it same ratios as super clean for apc pre rinse on car exterior? Thx
Your thoughts on simple green for this process welcomed
Hi. Thanks!
I havent persoanlly used Simple Green for detailing, but I assume it would be ok, dilute it 1:10 and never let it dry and you should be fine.
@@MirandaDetailing ty subbed!
Hey Phil is the Chemical Guys Nonsense cleaner the same as APC ? I think it is . I'm going to try this method a few times. Great work Miranda Detailing
Hi. Yeah its pretty much an APC so you can use it the same way.
Hey Phil! What's your take on Dawn Dish soap for the APC rinse? I realize that that's not your method so it's probably not as effective (if you've tried it out). But if it does 80% of the job, I'll just use that for my occasional wash instead of buying a dedicated APC.
Hi. Actually we have used it in the past and it does work well. If you want to use that as an APC rinse it should work well.
For dirty trucks I combine both methods and add apc to my soap. I use Perl as well and just dump a couple oz of P&S enviroclean in it. Let’s it’s dwell a bit better than just apc.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
If I'm doing a APC rinse, do you think doing snow foam, rinsing, then doing a contact wash with the 2 bucket method as the third step overkill? Or is doing a APC rinse then foam and straight to contact wash enough and will achieve the same results
Hi. So the APC rinse replaces the typical snow foam so you don’t need do that if you’re doing the APC rinse. Also we don’t have two buckets for washing. We foam and contact wash right after the APC rinse. We have tried it multiple ways and found our method is fast, safe, and efficient for us.
Hi Phil. Thanks for the video. I can't get extra tough here, I have purple power degreaser. What would be a good ratio for purple power degreaser ? Gracias
Hi you’re welcome. Can you get super clean? If so we use that also. We always dilute them 1:4. You can use purple power the same way at 1:4.
@@MirandaDetailing thank you very much. CANT get super clean either, just purple power. So 1 to 4 as a pre rinse and i should be fine with the paint?
Yup. That will work. 😎👍🏼
Phil I’m on the same boat APC all day long! BTW how that foam cannon compared to MTM one’s?
Cool! I am loving the new MJJC foam cannon. It feels more sturdy and well built. The MTM versions are still great, but I love the features on this one.
Hey Phil, how did this Malco CR2 Epic hold up. I have some in my shopping cart but haven’t pushed the button yet. Guess I’m looking for the holy grail of spray on’s lol…. Want to try TAC moonlight but can’t find it sold in the US anymore so just curious to how this malco did with water behavior and longevity. Thanks
Hi It actually held up well, but this is a work truck and its always on the road and any protection takes a hit.
Hey Phil, If you use a quality APC diluted properly is there any worry about it breaking down a ceramic coating? Obviously not right away but is it an issue over time?
Hi. Yeah it could cause some issues down the road. The APC rinse is really just for really dirty vehicles I clean initially. Once protected juts a regular rinse is sufficient. You could use a snow foam in a spray foamer to do a pre wash, that would be gentler on protection. I’ll be demoing hat soon with some good soap options.
Wow! Def a difference using an APC. I’ll be using that method on my daughters white Jeep. What would be your process to remove 2 coats of Wolfgang 3.0 sealant prior to polishing for a ceramic coating. I don’t want the sealant to gunk up my polishing pads.
Hi I would certainly APC rinse really well, that will break down sealants and waxes. Also If its a concern to you, before polishing you can use a strong panel wipe or IPA before polishing. But honestly, I haven't found that sealants or waxes gum up my pads. I'm not sure why so many people believe that. I used to read that a lot on the detailing forums, but never found it to be true for me. I have never run into that issues ever. When compounding and polishing that action removes anything on the paint including dead paint and residue and a little amount of sealants or waxes that still may be hanging on. But I have never found it to make a difference with my compounding or polishing. I little extra residue is my pads is always blown out with I use air to clean the pad. So maybe that's the reason I don't notice it or it doesn't effect what we do, I am always blowing out the pads and keeping them clean as we polish.
@@MirandaDetailing thanks Phil!
Does the apv pre rinse still work without the foam another channel says foam gives dwell time and it's a waste without foam pre rinse this seems just as effective in the pump sprayer
Hi. I have found that actually the original Apc rinse that we do using just the spray pump bottle can be more effective on really nasty vehicles. The foam does linger longer, but it doesn’t always clean better. It really depends on many variables, and one can’t say for a certainty that one way is better. Each has their place.
So to understand properly, do you rinse after you apply the APC? Or do you just foam it down with the foam cannon?
Also, how long do you let the APC sit?
Well as we demonstrated in the video. We rinse first, apply the APC, wait about 30-60 seconds depending on how hot it is out and if we are in direct sunlight or not. Then rinse that off, that’s when you saw the traffic film and grime on the paint blasting away. Then foam and wash per usual.
Hey Phil what pump sprayer did you use in this video?
We used one like this amzn.to/2QZFyUl and then the IK foamer bit.ly/31CcaW8
Love the video, first time to your channel. I’m sure you’ve been asked this a lot but is APC a degreaser? I want to use your method but not sure what to buy… Thank you for the great video!
Never mind you answered my question when watching your next video. I’m loving this “pre wash”. I’ve been doing it all wrong for 35 years. Lol!
Thanks so much!!
Is super clean safe for an apc pre wash? Just curious because I wanted to try the method but also want to keep cost low and it’s always readily available. Was thinking either that or Meguiars apc. Wanted to test it on my car but it’s black and I’m scared haha. Love the vids btw!
Hi. Yes we have been using super clean for years. We dilute it 1:10 so it’s safe. Just use logic and don’t let it dry on the paint. If it ever stains it’s easily polished out. But I rarely rinse into that. If staining happening it usually means the paint has issues. It’s also better to use a foamer instead of just spraying it on. The foam clings and it doesn’t dry as fast.
@@MirandaDetailing thank you so much for the advice. You are a great person to have in the detailing community.
I used Super Clean diluted (1: 6) in a foam cannon on a dry black Honda HRV today that was not washed for 5 weeks but is new (2023). I let it dwell for may be 2 to 3 minutes and rinsed it with a small pressure washer and then used Adam's Mega Foam in the cannon and lightly agitated with a couple of different mitts and washed off. Came out pretty decent. I do wonder if APC foam cannon spray takes off any wax or sealants from the paint surface?
Hi. That's awesome! So since Super Clean is a strong alkiline cleaner it will definitely weaken waxes and sealants. that's why we dont use the APC rinse on protected vehicles, only on initial details.
@@MirandaDetailing Well next week I am planning on starting the process of prepping this car and my wife's new VW ID4 for Adam's Advanced ceramic coating so I guess APC will work instead of a strip shampoo I was going to use (Chemical Guys Clean Slate). I guess I could use both to be very clean
Have you tried putting the apc in a foam cannon the spray it on faster? Ever have the apc stain or glass?
Yeah I have. It also works. I went back to use the pump sprayer because it’s fast for us. One person rinsed while the other uses the APC.
How long do you let your apc sit on the paint before washing it off? How long in direct sunlight?
Hi. I have a bunch of videos on that
czcams.com/video/dl16KJyI1v0/video.html
czcams.com/video/ubD_0N7JoiQ/video.html
Basically I let it dwell for 30-60 seconds and if n full sun just keep an eye on it so it doesn’t dry fully.
Is it safe to use super clean as the apc for a pre rinse or would meguiars citrus power cleaner be a better option?
Totally! We use super clean 1:4 all the time!
I've been wanting to ask you about your APC pre-treatment process. Thank you for sharing! It was great to see how the APC cut through the tar and other garbage that was plastered up the sides. Would you recommend Super Clean for the same purpose and if so what dilution ration would you suggest? Thank you again for putting together great content!
Glad it was helpful! Oh yeah, we also use Super clean 1:4 all the time. I switch back and forth between APC's since we have a few options here.
@@MirandaDetailing Perfect! Thank you again for the info! Have an awesome day!
@@MirandaDetailing would this 4:1 SuperClean pre wash method, would it affect the car finish or any existing wax the car may have?
@@paredeskevin123 the point of the pre wash is to cut through the dirt, grease, film and whatever is on the paint before you contact wash. It’s meant to brake down any previously applied waxes or sealants. This pre washing is meant for initial details and not maintenance details.
Hi Phil. So could I dilute purple power degresser 3:1 or 8:1 like u said in a spray bottle ans spray it on?
Hi Yes that would work fine, just make sure to pre rinse first and dont apply to dry paint or let it dry on the paint.
@@MirandaDetailing ok cool also what dilution would u recommend?
I know this has nothing to do with this video but I have a question.... in your opinion what is the best and easiest to remove and work with ceramic coating for consumers
Hi. This coating is the easiest one I have ever used. Very easy to apply and level out. It only lasts 6-12 months if properly maintained.

Use this to maintain it bit.ly/3wVjlqC
Love my tw graphene flex wax spray👍 i
I've moved my winter pre wash to apc , snowfoam does very little on uk winter crud
Awesome!
Quick question from an enthusiast . you pre rinse before applying extra tuff doesn`t this doesn`t this reduce extra tuff affectedness with water being on vehicle already ?
Thank You
As always great info, you helped this enthusiast out of the rabbit hole of you tube detailer's.
Hi. Nope it doesn’t reduce the effectiveness at all. It’s safer to pre rinse in our opinion because if any APC drops down on dry paint it can leave drip marks. It’s not a huge deal becasue even if some APC stains paint it can polished out with ease. But we eliminate that risk all together by pre rinsing. Since we mix our APC rinse 1:4 it’s strong enough to work even with some water be on the paint already.
@@MirandaDetailing Thanks !!!
Your explanation helps this senior enthusiast :)
You should try the Auto Foam in the pump sprayer or try their Surfex HD APC
I do have another video coming out soon where we used the BH AF in the ik foamer abour 1:4ish and it does work well on a nasty vehicle with mildew build up. But once again, having another product for pre washing isn't needed at all. Its nice and works and everything, but why spend money on that when our APC rinse method is fast and more cost effective? We counted all the costs and this is better for us and many others who have tried it. We have tried so many different APC's and soaps before and its all the same, so we choose the ones that are cost effective. No need to try everything people suggest to us. After many years we realize that it comes down to personal choice and technique.
@@MirandaDetailing that’s fair enough, as I’m in the UK I only pay £17 for 5 litres, the dilution can be an issue if you need the cleaning power and are looking at nearly a 50/50 mix.
We also have another snow foam that matches it for cleaning power but at a lower dilution, only problem I find with that one is it doesn’t rinse too freely and you can find if in the door jambs etc.
We also only pay £17 for 5 litres of Surfex HD which is a great APC, strong but with no caustic chemicals. If you get the chance of a freebie you should give it a try.
Cool. Yeah I did get a sample of the Surfex so I will be trying it out.
Question why cant i just use dish soap for the pre rinse to loosen everything up wouldnt apc be more harsh then dish soap. Im just curious since we reapplying a coat it shouldnt matter in my opinion or am i wrong.
Hi. I have use dish soap before and it does work also. Dish soap is also a very strong degreaser don’t be fooled just because it’s used on dishes both products degrease and clean very well. Even dish soap can be harsh on car plaids and rubber trim if used regularly.
But it can be used as a pre wash if you want.
@@MirandaDetailing thanks for clearing it up. I just think its safer for beginners because from what i heard sofar if you make a mistake with apc it does more damage faster having it on too long or something. Im just trying to learn and believe in measure twice cut once so once i know what to do ill do it right first time 😁. Another thing can i add a cap of apc to a wash shampoo to give it extra power or can i cause a chemical reaction that could damage paint note everything is before contact wash
So an apc rinse would remove any wax or sealant applied on the surface correct? Whereas the bilt hamber doesn't necessarily effect existing protection?
And if I am looking to try and strip the paint of any waxes or sealants prior to polishing, the apc rinse is still the best choice?
That’s true depending on how strong the Bilt Hamber is mixed. I don’t rely on the the cleaners or soaps to strip any protection. I do that that when polishing anyway. But the APC will weaken and in some cases remove old protection that is on its way out.
@@MirandaDetailing ok cool, thanks for the speedy reply!
You’re welcome.
I may have missed it but was the APC dilution ratio mentioned?
5:1
Correct, either 1:4 or 1:5 works for us
Will the APC remove contaminants as well as old wax and sealant?
Hi It will remove traffic film and road grime, not rion or bonded contaminants, It will weaken and start to break down old waxes and sealants, depending on what they are.
The apc wash is only applied on the sides or all over the vehicle?
It depends on the condition of the vehicle. If the top sections are bad and need it then yes. Otherwise we use APC on the bottom sections because they are usually the worst.
I guess you would consider using a mitt to spread the apc evenly over the surface with a little hand pressure (after spraying it on) as just a wasted effort??? Also, using the pump sprayer guarantees the mix ratio on the surface to be exactly 1/4. Does using 1/4 in a foam pressure washer actually dilute the ratio due to all the water used?
Hi So before we actually contact wash or touch the paint with any mitts or towels we do this pre-wash or APC rinse. We don't want to agitate anything until the APC has time to dwell and be rinsed off taking the majority of grit and grime away with it. Using the separate pump bottle does ensure exact ratios, while using the foam cannon it dilutes it more and its hard to get exact measures with it.
Hi,can you help me, which one should i use a good TFR should i use in a car wash to wash cars faster
Hi. Do you mean what products should you use?
@@MirandaDetailing yes
Well I use Super Clean a lot for our pre wash like I mentioned in our videos. It’s dilute it 1:10 in a sprayer or foamer
Do you now, APC rinse, every car, every time Phil? Snow foams alone really do next to nothing for cleaning. I was looking into a higher ph foam like Koch Chemie AF (9.5) ph. But they manufacturer and detailers say don't use it for every wash??
Hi. Nope. This type of strong apc rinsing is meant for initial details only. For maintenance details on protected vehicles I usually use either a ph neutral shampoo or a ceramic or wax infused shampoo.
The foam on auto foam seems really weak in the foam canon in your video, being in U.K we do a pre wash and rinse then contact wash with 2 buckets, I use auto foam all the time at around 2-4% panel impact ratio which means we have to use a lot of product but it’s cheap enough so no big deal , normally need around 500ml product to reach the highest PIR ratio but normally I use around 300ml to 700ml water which is around 2-3% PiR
Yeah I mixed it the way detailers said to, Meh…our other apc rinse method is cheaper, faster, and all around better from our testings. But as I always say, if it works for you, great, keep using it! 😎👍🏼
Awesome, is the apc rinse safe on coated cars ?
Hi. Yes it is, but use it sparingly. Using high alkaline soaps is safer becasue they have other ingredients that make make them safer to use on anything. But we usually do an apc rinse in nasty vehicles that we are doing our full detail on.
Awesome guys..Phil,What the best sealer after a wash and wax..or is that necessary?
Hi thanks! What do you mean by sealer? You mean a paint sealant? If so it depends on the job. if the paint is in good shape we sometimes just use a spray sealant like Meguiar;s Bead Booster amzn.to/3rEqCrf or Tech Choice Ceramic Spray amzn.to/3cDgs5O. But if the paint has some marring left over from the clay baring stage we machine apply a liquid wax or sealant like Meguiars Finishing Wax D301 amzn.to/31AUjyP
@@MirandaDetailing my paint turned out nice after my last wash/wax..But I just wasn’t sure if I should add another layer of protection.. So thanks for info..ps..I never knew their was so much to learn about detailing a vehicle.. Good stuff. lol. Peace!
You're welcome, You can always add a topper like a spray wax or sealant after the wash just to add another layer, it doesn't hurt to layer.
@@MirandaDetailing HEy Phil..Can i use that black ice TLC on my truck if its already waxed? I've been hearing conflicting storys!..So I just ask the experts (you guys)..Sorry for bombarding you with all these questions.lol thanks as always!
Hi. Well those types of spray coatings do like to have clean bare paint to bond to. You can apply it right over existing wax or sealant but it may not last as long. If I was going to apply Black Ice I would wash and APC rinse the then do a quick polish just to prep the paint. Then apply it. I know that sounds like a lot but the results are worth it!
I hear some detailers talk about how rinsing with just water on a dirty vehicle may cause scratches from the abrasion of the water pushing the dirt into the paint. I get so frustrated cause it feels like I need SO many methods and products to just wash my car safely at home... I think some detailers need to focus on the "KISS" method so that people wont get so frustrated and actually not be afraid to wash their own vehicles. I notice your videos are a lot less strict on what NEEDS to be done and you're more focused on what works for you and keeping it as simple as possible. Here's to hoping my $500 setup is good enough to wash my brand new car this week. First time ever washing my cars myself without going to those awful car washes! 😆
Yeah I used to drive myself nuts thinking the same thing…until a really thought about it. Many detailers follow others without actually using proper thinking abilities. I think about this: when driving at higher speeds and you drive through mud or dirt, it will wipe across your paint at high speeds….already causing scratches. Rising with water will not push it into the paint causing the scratches, the scratches are already there from driving! Nobody acknowledges this! 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. That’s when I started thinking for myself and teaching others to do the same. 😎👍🏼
@@MirandaDetailing I like the analogy you used, makes a lot of sense! Appreciate the response and you definitely earned a subscriber! Have a blessed week!
Thanks so much! 😎👍🏼
Hi Phil, thanks for info. I also think that foam pre-wash does not remove much dirt in my opinion.
But my question is: will apc harm the protection already on the surface?
Thanks
Hi. Well it depends on the APC used. Usually we use high alkaline APC/degreasers because the vehicles are so dirty and we need to start fresh with them and apply a wax or sealant at the end. But for vehicles that are well maintained and already have protection we don’t need to use strong APC/degreasers. You can can also choose to use a ph neutral APC. They don’t clean as well in my opinion but they don’t weaken the protection of you choose to use them on vehicles that already have been protected. But generally yes a strong APC rinse will weaken waxes and sealants on the paint.
@@MirandaDetailing hello, I am new to detailing. Have you or would you use purple power diluted for the APC rinse or stick with super clean? Just wondering.
Thank you
Hi. Yes I have use purple power before and it seemed to do a good job.
@@MirandaDetailing thank you very much!
hello is it safe to use superclean with water for a prerinse stage?
Hi. Yes that’s what we use all the time also. Super clean diluted 1:4. Just pre rinse the paint first and don’t let it dry.
@@MirandaDetailing super!!! Ty
What do you find the best dilution ratio for your Apc rinse Phil?
Also a "more safe way" i saw you struggling to find the words lmao 🤣
1:4 or 1:5 seem to be the perfect ratios.
😂🤦🏻♂️
Aren’t APC’s higher on the PH scale and more acidic though? I ask because I don’t want to be too hard on my ceramic coating.
Hi. High ph is alkaline and not acidic. Low ph would acidic. However I don’t use apc rinsing for maintenance washing. It’s only for initial details. For ceramic coatings you don’t need that aggressive of a cleaner if you’re washing it regularly. Just a good shampoo will work fine.
