    Yessss! A reactor who actually GETS it! This is one of my very favorites because of the technical perfection. Music geeks recognize just how difficult this arrangement is and they kill it with ease. Love, love!

    • @rudewalrus5636
      @rudewalrus5636 Před 3 lety +13

      Well, they certainly make it LOOK easy - but I suspect they put in a lot of work to get it there. They are incredibly talented, but they also work hard at their craft.

    One particularly difficult thing that Mitch, Kirstin, and Scott were doing was vocal handoffs. Mitch would sing a word, then Kirstin would sing the next word, then Scott the next word, then Kirsten, then Mitch. The timing for vocal handoffs is radically difficult.

  • @MelaniePoparad

    This is literally one of my favorite songs they do period. It’s gorgeous, so intricate and they all have an incredibly important role to play and they do it perfectly and with such nonchalance. It’s amazing. I want to be at a house party with those 5 chilling on the couch breaking out something insane. Also, Kirstie and Mitch can make their voice almost interchangeable... they are so unique but they can merge their vibratos to make a single sound that makes your head spin! Great reaction! Love this song!

  • @charlottevan_8
    @charlottevan_8 Před 3 lety +77

    Whenever I watch this one, I focus on Avi's bass lines, which are often overlooked by reactors. His percussive notes, the 2 slick bass drops, the syncopation he does toward the end, let alone his duet with Kevin, where he reminds me of an upright bass. So good, so under-appreciated.

  • @My2ndnephew
    @My2ndnephew Před 3 lety +10

    Pentatonix rose from their own work, sweat and tears. I've watched them from the second song on the Sing Off competition to their move to LA, to their being dropped by their label to all of the You Tube video work that brought them to the present. I feel like a proud parent these days, weird, huh?

    The fact that the original artist needed computerized help to get the same effect that Mitch does with his voice is awesome. Then the three of them doing it! I love this performance! Thank you so much I've missed your ptx reactions!!!

    • @destinycircle8192
      @destinycircle8192 Před 3 lety +3

      The computer enhancement was to make it more interesting, not because the singer needed "help". That Mitch does it with just his voice is still impressive, of course.

    • @jenniferjohnson824
      @jenniferjohnson824 Před 3 lety

      She has a pretty voice but I've never had her do the chorus herself. one performance I saw she had someone playing the recorded version and the other one she slowed it down and though it was pretty she didn't even attempt it. I like her I'm just more impressed with Mitch doing it this way.

    @tH-ym3nw Před 3 lety +45

    I think the reason why I have stayed intrested in pentatonix for so long and continue to listen to all of their songs over and over is because it's never old. Usually once I can sing along to a song it starts to feel played out but with their arrangements and stellar execution it's like 6 songs in one. You can focus on each person's part or the arrangement as a whole.

      If I’m not mistaken, the order in those lyrics is « roof is », « falling », « let me », « love me », « falling », « I just know » and on the second pass they repeat everything except the last two parts and are instead saying « without ever letting you know ». The part when they say « love me » is verry subtle and I think that this is were the reactor was questionning who was singing between Mitch and Kirstin.

    They are the MASTERS of vibrato. They all have such expert control over their voices and know exactly when and where to place that vibrato and when and where to add a bit of "cry" or "growl" . They do seem to breathe new life into all the songs they do and most of them, I must say, are better than the original. I have yet to hear a song that fell short. I really don't think they can do that because they are such perfectionists. Thanks for the assessment.

    Kirsten and Mitch are going back and forth doing every other word, almost like a ping pong game between them.

    Yay! So glad your back on ptx! Please do megan trainor no....it’s very like this.....also they have a whole album of new original tracks that are next level and have put out animations for each so so you can react to them without the copyright issue. Omg I would love to see your take on all of them because they are so different.

    Also you are way overdue to start reacting to Mitch & Scott's side project Superfruit.

    Thank you Mr Temple for the great reaction to them. They're such a great a capella group. (I'm giving you a big update. This song their doing has a nice tribal feel to it especially the layers.
    On Friday 3-19-21 Angelina Jordan is releasing another single "7th Heaven" You can pre order it on Spotify & Apple player) & We hope you do & react to it too.

    This is my second favorite. My favorite is Aha! from Singapore. Videos like this where there all on screen the whole time, like their evolution videos. I watch once to take it all in then watch each one separately. It’s amazing what you see and hear that you didn’t pick up before.

    One of the biggest compliments from The Sing Off was that they sounded like more then 5 people. Strength of arrangements + blend, very hard to do

    go check out the kiara original it's full electronic and the last song you'd expect for an a capella cover, makes mitch's lead even more impressive

    There are several songs wherein there are words or notes that it is hard to tell if it is Mitch or Kirstie. This group is so stunningly talented and accomplished. Thanks for doing this.

    Loved your reaction to this one. I think you are now ready for their version of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy". That was their second, 2016, Grammy (Best Performance - Instrumental or a Capella" after their first, 2015 for "Daft Punk". I couldn't comprehend the thought of an orchestral number from the Nutcracker Ballet (no words) being performed by an a Capella group (no instruments). But they won a Grammy for it. You have to check it out, would love to see your reaction and hear your thoughts.
