    Thanks for this G9II overheating test, especially for all G9II owners. Your videos about G9II overheating tests are exceptionally helpful. These are the real world tests or demonstration we need! Kudos to you, Sir!

    I liked this video a lot 😄. Yes definitely good with the E - stabilisation on while walking. To much warping at 9mm without it. The follow focus worked great even if sometimes it lost the focus, it tracked back pretty good and smooth.. The lens flare popping in sometimes was caused by an ND filter I suppose? Can't wait for the summer to see how it works because over here where I live, it gets very hot too.. I was looking for a gimbal for the GH5 but seeing your footage while walking with the e stab turned on, it impressed me! Almost a gimbal killer for real!

    If it's 104 degrees outside the G9II or any camera will be inside with me in the AC having a cold drink. B&H is right. The G9II is a video/photo camera. A white towel to stop direct sunlight helps, turning off the camera now and then, faster SD card or external battery etc.

    I came across your channel about two months ago when the G9II appeared on my radar and since then have been following your videos closely, especially this newest series regarding the overheating topic of the G9II which I purchased after your video talking about the B&H discount offer. For me, this camera is meant to be an "upgrade" into the world of quality autofocus, and I really appreciate the thorough insight you've been providing regarding this issue. As a fellow Phoenician I've been increasingly concerned about the summer months here. Though I don't plan on doing too much filming outdoors, I'm also not looking to rack up my AC bill by trying to maintain indoor temperatures at a constant 73 while fighting 110 degree ambient temperatures. Good to know you were able to get a fairly reliable experience with the camera in a direct 81 degree environment. One thing that keeps coming to mind while following this topic is an actual professional tip, not to be confused with the trendy "pro tip", a filmmaker from Texas shared in one of his videos for dealing with the likes of the Texas sun. White gaff tape. Apparently the reflective nature of a few small strips of white gaff tape is enough to make a noticeable difference in heat management while shooting outdoors. Makes sense. Also makes me wonder if we'd see a noticeable difference in heat management had Panasonic released the G9II in a white variant. Obviously, to your point, it would be better if the camera companies took more care and consideration in delivering a more optimal tolerance out of the box, and I agree, instead of putting consumers in a position of resorting to "hacks" to squeeze precious minutes into record time and usability. But, to that point I thought I'd share this with you for your testing purposes, in case you wanted to give it a try. Other than that, big fan of your content and insight. Thanks buddy. And hey, stay cool out there.

    The G9ii is primarily a photocentered camera and not a video centered camera.It's built accordingly with excellent features and image quality. According to your test ,it's more than sufficient for standard videos too.
    Panasonic stick to their specs ,and I don't see any problem with it. I enjoy this new camera very much,coming from the original G9.If video is your main thing you have the S5ii and the Gh6 as you said. I assume that the af will be upgraded soon.

    Nice Intro! 😊 I've also experienced overheating when recording in 4k24 or 30. (Mov and mp4). I can get between 18-23mins before it stops. Weird that my Lumix g85 can shoot longer (almost 2hrs) with the same video settings. Im waiting for the ulanzi fan that i ordered, hoping it helps.

    Love the opening!!! Ha ha… by the way, I have both the GH6 and the G9II. I’m currently doing my own testing. One thing I know that is bugging me a bit is the dials on top of the G9II seem to be easily turned. I am accidentally changing settings occasionally without intent. My GH6 has no issues in that area and I can actually lock it when needed. Thanks so much for these videos!! I appreciate them immensely and know how much it takes to make…. Keep going… blessings

    For me, this camera still looks kind of compelling. I do a lot of weddings which are in hotel, rooms, or indoors in churches and event spaces, and for indoor stuff and quick clips for the getting ready and all of that stuff as well as just regular events and talking head interviews as well as gimbal work this seems really, really great.
    As long as I am there to man it and make sure it isn’t in a bad situation or isn’t beginning to overheat I think I’ll be OK but it really just depends. I do a lot of outside weddings and shoots as well so I guess this summer will also be a good test for me.

    Bro you put his music hahhahahahahhaha. Note... I know your not a Sony fan but the FX30 and FX3 have internal fans and the most reliable Sony's I have ever seen as far as overheating goes. I have never been able to get them to overheat even in AZ.

      Yes both those cameras are quite alluring. Has Sony finally figured out they need to add shutter angle and open gate?

    • @JonnyBravoTV
      @JonnyBravoTV Před 2 měsíci

      @@_tographer open gate, I wish however they announced a firmware update that comes out in July that finally adds shutter angle to the FX3 and FX30. I'm actually shocked because how many years have people begged for that? Lol by the way, I saw your video that you did about Anamorphic and the Loawa's. Take a look at the Blazar Remus 1.5x or the 2x they just announced at NAB. People are raving about these lenses. They have a ton of character and look like real vintage anamorphics.

    please try this vlog using open gate. It's the most unique feature that lumix has over other brands.. I currently own the S5ii, FX30 and A7iv. I love the open gate on the S5ii. so many uses for open gate. I'm going to purchase a second lumix and I'm torn between S5iix and G9ii.. So thanks for your coverage and time on G9ii, it's really appreciated. I appreciate your unbiased reporting..

  • @razfilmstv
    @razfilmstv Před 2 měsíci

    The GH6 can also get hot. Remember the term they use, "under normal conditions". (from the GH6 manual) For information about the high temperature display
    When the temperature of the camera or card rises, [icon_temperature-rise] appears blinking on the screen. If you continue to use the camera, a message indicating that the camera or card cannot be used is displayed on the screen and recording and HDMI output will be stopped. Wait for the camera or card to cool down and for the message indicating that they can be used again. When the message indicating that they can be used again is displayed, turn the camera off then on again.

    My use case is less demanding compared to what you did in this video. I also use an Insta360 X2 (and get the X4 now) for the vlog style shots. Those cameras can overheat much faster but until now, with the wind on the bicycle and shorter takes, I never had overheating on them.

  • @CLIFFLIX

    Panasonic - Can you add an on-screen temp meter? A simple 5 dot graphic with three green, two yellow and one red dot. This will give confidence to the user and allow them to know in advance before a shutdown happens. Having a temp meter on-screen takes away all the guessing and mystery. Having a meter answers the question: "How is my camera doing right now?". Honestly, THAT is the most stressful part....NOT knowing if you are suddenly 30 seconds away from catastrophe at any time. Again,....for me today? No fan, no buy. GH7...where are you? I'm waiting to upgrade my GH6. It feels like forever.

    • @_tographer
      @_tographer  Před 2 měsíci

      That or even just an option to display the internal temp in F/C. If the camera is rated for use up to 104F and I see that it’s at 86F or 95F that gives me a lot of information and I can make choices accordingly.
