  • @Owlr4ider
    @Owlr4ider Před 3 lety +9

    I think that as is this is easily a 9/10 army because it's very accessible, no trait farming and generally underused heroes that you won't really have in your other armies. Also doesn't rely on equipment at all nor levels for that matter making it even more accessible to get going pretty early on in the game. With full equipment, level 40 and with trait farming this can easily be a 10/10 doomstack as it'll be much better than skelly spam which is the otherwise go-to Vampire Counts doomstack. Also while you often mock Chaos you said it yourself, they're actually a tough matchup for the Vampire Counts so the fact that they could easily dispatch a tough opponent for them should weigh the doomstack up as well.

    • @docholliday7408
      @docholliday7408 Před 3 lety +3

      It's not very accessible though. Each extra wight king after the first one requires another tier 4 settlement, and the wight king building doesn't do anything particularly useful aside from wight kings. The campaign in the video is on turn 156 and well past anything particularly difficult.

    • @Owlr4ider
      @Owlr4ider Před 3 lety +2

      @@docholliday7408 I mean sure it's not something you can typically get on turn 50 or so but getting around 14 tier 4 settlements isn't particularly difficult as Vampire Counts or in general for that matter. Once you get past the early game Vampire Counts are a very rich faction thanks to free skelly spam abuse so they can easily afford to build the Wight King building even just temporarily to recruit the Wight Kings than demolish it to get something else. This campaign was on turn 156 but it doesn't mean you can't get it earlier. I'd say for a campaign going well you can easily do it by turn 70 or so which isn't bad at all for a late game doomstack. Of course you can delay it a bit to for example trait farm to optimize the doomstack but that's more luxury than necessity and either way you can begin with generic Wight Kings than slowly get rid of undesired traits and replace them with desired ones. Of course that will mean not demolishing the Wight King building ASAP but again, that's the balance between a quick and dirty fully functional doomstack and a fully optimized one. That's both incredibly flexible and accessible.

    • @docholliday7408
      @docholliday7408 Před 3 lety +2

      @@Owlr4ider No, it's not difficult but it takes time. I highly doubt anyone could get 14 tier 4 settlements by turn 70. I'll believe it when I see it. As for building the buildings temporarily, I mean I guess you could do that, but keep in mind if you go that route you have to build them all "temporarily" at the same time. No matter how you look at it though, it's still far less practical and accessible than vampires.

    Super late to the party, but this army could have been soooooo much better. Get all disciplined wight kings, as their only real weakness is melee attack. They have a pretty good melee defense naturally. Get max level heroes (obviously) and give them all equipment. Glittering scales (reduced melee attack and melee defense on close enemies), brass cleaver (reduced melee on nearby enemies), and maybe helm of discord as others have said. Definitely unlock a mount for the wight kings but whether to use it or not is up to you. They are tankier, but slower, without it.
    Get a von carstein bloodline lord to lead the army. He has the benevolent overlord ability that gives all nearby heroes 20% ward save. If you stack this with talisman of preservation that's AT LEAST 37% ward save on every single hero, not counting lord defeat traits you have acquired (wurzag, helman ghorst, tyrion, etc). Likely closer to 50-60 depending on armor, trinkets, and the defeat traits you have. Plus the von carstein lord has a siege attacking flying mount and access to winds of death. I would throw in one banshee instead of the necromancer, just for the movement speed bonus to the army on the campaign map. Keep the vampires (at least 1 death and 1 shadows).
    I honestly do not see how an army like this could lose, ever. Wight king capacity (need tier 4 settlements) and good items are the real hold up in getting this. If you rush tier 4 settlements you can start getting them around turn 45-55 but its kind of tough to get more than 3 or 4 by that time. In a really well done/lucky campaign where you get an early mousillon confederation (unique building that buffs wight king capacity) I can see this army being online by like turn 80-100. Mostly online by the time chaos invades, which is when the videos army is showcased. I really need to do one of these and send it to legend, if he is still open to reviewing doomstacks from warhammer 2.

    I mean, if the point of this stack is just that Wight Lords are tanky and can take wave after wave of Chaos... the Necromancer is there to show you don't need Kemmler in the army, just a Necromancer with Curse of Undeath to keep them passively regenerating throughout the entire battle as other Hero Only doomstack usually have a problem with keeping all heroes topped off throughout multiple enemy reinforcements.

  • @Drainmachine92

    Get this in Ghorst's army for poison + very cheap Danse Macabre&Wind of death + Mortis engine when they all fight as a unit. good fighting traits +items for wight kings + shadow and death vampire debuffs and it might be more than 9/10. Just an idea.

    Causing -4 base leadership per hero or buffing your own army?

  • @Kilen_BE
    @Kilen_BE Před 3 lety +1

    I love VCounts... by far (with skavens as well tho) the most interesting race to make different combos of armies and tactics.
    It’s definitely a strong stack here.
    Perso i use WhiteKings as scouts/assassins until I have enough Banshees to do that themselves.
    Then I regroup all WK in a stack like this one or similar at turn 200 or something.
    If you manage to confed all VC LLs you can also get quite a lot of WK from others factions besides LL themselves (but it’s rng, no way to control that ofc).
    And hire only WK yourself far later in very end game to make a full stack of WK there.
    until there, only hire Banshees for scouting/assassins and vampires as heros for the armies... vampires remain better, even less tanky than WK, bcoz of all magic and spells they can provide.
    So overall Vampires remain more useful than WK imo, but still WK are definitely good melee heros.
    GG nice and clean fight 👌

      @Debilinside Před 3 lety +2

      On normal the vampires are pretty good in melee. They dont have a ton of defense and armor, but have pretty high attack to begin with (around 70 if you have some good weapons). Combined with the magic and healing (Thirst stacks with the Master of the dead aura) your lord and 2 vampires+1 necro can take out lvl 5 cities with built up defenses+ full army garrison. Which is pretty ridiculous :D Sieges are broken.

    • @TheMastaRob
      @TheMastaRob Před 3 lety +2

      Honestly I rarely really use the vamps for magic myself, take a necro and pretty much use it all on healing and wind of death. I'll a add a vamp into armies, but almost entirely for the mobility. Regen and healing in the tech tree is nice though.

    • @Debilinside
      @Debilinside Před 3 lety +2

      @@TheMastaRob Dunno, I know winds of death has higher dmg potential, but I find pit is shade having much more utility.Only with heroes is hard to line up units properly, so most of the wind of death is wasted and its quite expensive. Pit of shades is only 10 magic and 2 cast basically kills any infantry unit. Better against blobs because they cant escape due its stun and pull. Also you can use it on the walls.
      But probably I just suck at positioning. On the field when you have a proper line of infantry holding the enemy, sure, winds of death is king.

    Everything you do is statistically most efficient...Except your heal spells.
    Why! The miscast chance is negligible when you're using heros *with* regen who won't be fighting anyway, and it is *statistically* better to overcast it provided you're hitting at least 3 correct units. When the entire blob is made up of correct units, there's really just no reason not to. You regularly use Earthblood on blobs where only one unit needs healing, yet you refuse to do the same for overcasted Nehek even in a good situation.

    • @sympunny8636
      @sympunny8636 Před 3 lety

      You just have to make the enemy clump (not difficult) particularly with this kind of army and then wind of death will always kill more than pit of shades. You can normally get over 400 kills with a single cast if you clump them right and much more in certain situations. It's much more efficient.

    • @greg2596
      @greg2596 Před 3 lety

      @@sympunny8636 i think it would depend on the shape of the clump. you may kill more but the but i think the pit of shades dose more damage all around and gets more to shatter and lose of morale plus the damage to horses . but for the most of my expectances the pit of shades can cover most of the round clump and what ever is caught in it dies or shatters but wind of death is good too

    • @sympunny8636
      @sympunny8636 Před 3 lety

      @@greg2596 wind of death kills entire units basically, there's no need for extra morale damage. And it does a ton of damage to horses, and armoured units, you just need to overcast it. Pit of shades is definitely a solid spell, but it affects way less units, simply because it's a smaller aoe. Pit of shades is very solid for catching units while they're moving, but for blobs, you can always do more damage with wind of death. Don't get me wrong, you can still do loads of damage and win battles easily with pit of shades, it's powerful af, but wind of death is actually op, probably the most powerful spell in game.

    Sometimes I think the better solution would be a balanced army. Had a blast fighting Chaos with Scelettons / Grave Guard supported by Corpse carts, Mortis engines, Crypt horrors, Blood knights and heroes.
    Or is there a further difference between very hard battle difficulty and legendary battle difficulty?

    • @Drainmachine92
      @Drainmachine92 Před 3 lety

      There is no legendary battle difficulty. Very hard is as high as it gets. Also, balanced armies work very well with Vampires due to the multitude of buffs/debuffs/passive healing all the heroes have. You just gotta deal with the artillery first.

  • @clockmonkey
    @clockmonkey Před 3 lety

    Start of game think you are better off with a Vampire Stack led by Isabella. Once you've built the "Mausoleum of the Mad Count" you can recruit two Vampire per turn for free have a full stack by turn 20 and set about levelling them. A Wight Stack with Kemmler clearly works and as he is immune to Chaos attrition is well suited to fighting Norsca then the Chaos Invasion, maybe Dark Elves later on. To get there you've got to spend money, which you have, and Build several "Lode Stones of Darkness" which is constrained by the number of settlements you have. Think Vampires are the way to go, but you could do one stuffed with Banshees or Wights if you want its a solo game and no one really cares what anyone else is doing.

  • @kroxigordundee7767

    Before seeing the fight I already see a MASSIVE problem with this doomstack. No siege attacker. You can't use an army in the endgame if it doesn't have a siege attacker, you're just slowing yourself down way too much. Get a Varghulf in there to round it out.
    Also, vampires are definitely weaker melee fighters than wight kings, especially on their hellsteed. You probably just want to pick at ranged units and artillery with them and casting pit or sun on your wight king blob.
