For some ungodly reason the song and name just popped into me head yesterday. On to CZcams I went and there the ads were. Wow how silly. Shows how deep American marketing penetrates our brains.
I loved that cereal when I was a small kid. In fact, it was the first cold cereal that I ever had in my whole life. Mainly, because it was accepted by WIC back in the days after two or three years my mother gave birth to me. This and Kaboom cereal are the official cereals of my early childhood living in the housing project complexes of Harlem, NYC.😁
1968's Quaker's King Vitaman cereal commercials tells a story about a kindhearted, feisty, heroic, friendly, formerly grumpy and somewhat pompous, currently jolly and fun-loving little dwarfed king called King Vitaman the 1st (voiced by Joe Flynn) who lives in a medieval castle titled "The Quaker Castle" where he teams up with a cheerful, wacky, funny, happy-go-lucky, and friendly royal advisor named Sir Laugh-It-Up who is one of King Vitaman's knights, speaks in a goofy high-pitched voice and a New York accent similar to the late American actor, voice actor and comedian Ed Wynn, works as a medieval practical jokester at the "The Quaker Castle" itself where he likes to tell a lot of jokes in order to fight off against a slow-witted, comical, greedy, cunning and scatterbrained medieval knight known as The Not-So-Bright Knight who, according to King Vitaman's introductions, is literally not so bright, tries to lead an army of knights to battle the whole medieval village to no avail since he gets run over squashed flat, attempts to pull out his sword to take advantages only to get knocked over by a tiny crusader, is seen tickling Sir Laugh-It Up's feet which makes him laugh so wild that he follows him anywhere, engages Sir Laugh-It-Up in a sword fight ending with him dropping his pants much to his embarrassment, digs a tunnel under the moat which leads to a storage room only for King Vitaman the 1st and Sir Laugh-It-Up to outsmart and trap him with a key stone and seeks to take a shelter by a rainstorm with a wooden catapult that launches him into the seven realms of Arthurian knights holding a meeting with a help of his box of King Vitaman cereal whose cereal pieces were shaped like sugary sweet tasty little golden crowns which are crispy and crunchy in every bowlful with a full day's supply of 100% vitamins & iron for a royal treatment.
1970's Quaker's King Vitaman cereal commercials tells a story about a kindhearted, feisty, heroic, friendly, jolly and fun-loving little dwarfed king called King Vitaman the 1st (voiced by Joe Flynn) who is redesigned with a pair of eyeglasses to match his voice actor's ink-suit, plus a magic sword and lives in a medieval castle titled "The Quaker Castle" where he teams up with a kindhearted, gentle, friendly, timid yet heroic and brave blonde-haired silver medieval knight in a shining armor named Sir Craven-Leigh who is one of King Vitaman's knights, works as a loyal lancer at the "The Quaker Castle" itself where he's feeling shy to do things on his own and usually letting him take his place so that he can save his skin in order to fight off against an evil knight in a blue shining armor with a Yorkshire accent, an expressive knight helmet, a black hair and a spiked mace known as The Blue Baron who is strong, powerful and obnoxious, engages King Vitaman the 1st in a single combat at which he tries to attack him only to be filled with enjoyment and defeated by a stick of dynamite and attempts to invade the whole medieval kingdom with a wooden battering ram along with an army of knights while throwing his tantrum which always makes him mad every now and then during nighttime and winds up rolling through the open front gate & the open back gate and splashing into a nearby river with a help of a box of King Vitaman cereal whose cereal pieces were shaped like sugary sweet tasty little golden crowns which are crispy and crunchy in every bowlful with a full day's worth of 100% vitamins and iron for a royal treatment.
Jay Ward produced the animated 1968-'70 spots (as he did for Quaker's "Cap'n Crunch", "Quisp" and "Quake"). Joe Flynn was the "King's" voice; and the usual Ward "stock company" of voices- Bill Scott, Paul Frees and Daws Butler- complimented him.
Daws Butler, didn't she also do the voice of " Gizo" the alien from the Flitstones, cartoons? I remember some of th these ads. All the best Shaun of NYC
I abhorred the cereal-it felt so sticky and clingy in my mouth I never had it again-but I loved the Jay Ward commercials, particularly the "Not-so-bright Knight" ones. This is the type of homespun humor our digital age just cannot make anymore. Thanks for posting!
Joe Flynn provided the voices of King Vitaman and Mr. Snoops, the "fat guy" from "The Rescuers". I guess that movie cartoon voices are recorded years before the movies are released, as Joe Flynn died in 1974, 3 years before "The Rescuers" premiered in theaters.
I remember king vitamin was very very very very very sweet about 75 percent of sugar until one boy from Chicago who was overweight and very active of football, then he only uses the king vitamin every day. one time he was playing for practice ,he had a real passing out faint, one doctor told him to release all sugar cereals but he only rats nothing but ling vitamin, so his parents sue Quaker for a whooping 80, 000 dollars for his surgery and the cereal decreases to fory percent sugar and that story was around to n1982 on the star magazines.
My dad ate this as a kid he remembered tasting like captain crunch but with less flavor

It's been a looong time since King Vitaman.

I loved the cartoon with Jack Albertson as the voice of King Vitaman commercials!
That is not Jack Albertson, but Joe Flynn.

That was "The Great Gazoo"- and it was Harvey Korman's voice. 🙂
Thanks, Shaun. 🙂
Aha. Joe Flynn. I knew I recognized him from something.
@@shauncampbell969 I think Harvey Korman was Gazoo.
And, in 1971- veteran performer George Mann appeared as a "live" King Vitaman in their ads for the next several years.
Barry I. Grauman .yea, until he died in 2016.
I am not old enough to remember this; my first exposure to this cereal was Pinky (of Pinky and the Brain) singing the ad jingle.
Sadly, most of the kids who regularly ate King Vitaman are in their graves now...
Interesting that in the first live-action commercial, the original cartoon King is still on the box.
That's George Mann as the live action King Vitaman. By this time, Quaker Oats Company gave us the famous "have breakfast with the king" campaign.
l like the cartoon king vitaman a lot more than the real king vitaman..last 2 commercials.
He talks like mr snoops Madame Medusa's henchmen from Disney's the rescuers
I abhorred the cereal-it felt so sticky and clingy in my mouth I never had it again-but I loved the Jay Ward commercials, particularly the "Not-so-bright Knight" ones. This is the type of homespun humor our digital age just cannot make anymore. Thanks for posting!
When I First Saw This I Didn't Know That King Vitaman Was A Cereal
The king sounds like that fat guy from "The Rescuers".
That is veteran actor Joe Flynn providing the voice of King Vitaman.
@@armorybrunotjr.3204 I guess they changed the kind of ads after Joe Flynn died unexpectedly.

American accents in a medieval setting never work.
I remember this cereal, don't remember trying it, but I thought it was the silliest ad ever saw.
I liked King Vitamin cereal but preferred the cartoon version of the commercials.
I remember the live action commercials. Love you tube.now gotta buy a box.
Double Toasted brought me here
I’m here because of double toasted
Not me you nitwits the cereal
Can’t find the King Vitaman Victor Vicious the Mad vitamin stealer commercial?
OMG. The cavities I got from that tasty cereal when I was a kid.
I remember king vitamin was very very very very very sweet about 75 percent of sugar until one boy from Chicago who was overweight and very active of football, then he only uses the king vitamin every day. one time he was playing for practice ,he had a real passing out faint, one doctor told him to release all sugar cereals but he only rats nothing but ling vitamin, so his parents sue Quaker for a whooping 80, 000 dollars for his surgery and the cereal decreases to fory percent sugar and that story was around to n1982 on the star magazines.
perhaps
Thoroughly annoying ads
A whole day's worth of vitamins and iron...not to mention a whole year's worth of sugar.
