This emulator mod causes Sonic the Hedgehog to get faster every time he collects a ring. This can make Sonic easier in some zones and much harder in others.

And.. this is why SEGA had Sonic hold back his actual speed in his games, cause.. a majority of the games would end way too quickly if it was like this.

Imagine combining this mod with the Omochau mod, so that you can basically fly through every level, but you still stop every time you do anything.

There's a quirk of the coding that if you somehow get ahead of the screen, you don't count as being there for the purpose triggering things. And if you get too far ahead, you go into a value that the game doesn't think exists, so it sends you all the waay to the opposite side of the map as you left the screen on.
Its not really a "quirk" rather just the game trying to run as efficiently as possible by unloading objects if you can't see since there's really no point in doing so. Remember, this game is on the SEGA GENESIS.
The problem with being faster than light, is that you can only live in darkness
One time, while playing on the gamecube version of Mega Collection, I got shot up so hard and so fast in twilight zone that the game just randomly killed me. This explains why, must have gone so far it warped me into the death plain below the map...

Combining this with OmoChao (like, you get him after a certain number of rings invokes pure chaos, for instance) would be a wild ride. I invite the ROMhackers of the world to... never make that. That would be pure evil. We wouldn't wanna torture BTG with that, definitely not.

Suggestion: Use debug mode to give yourself 999 rings when you get to Sonic 2's final boss fight if you decide to try it.
I'm watching it right now. It reminds me of the schoolyard myth from the SNES haters that Sonic is so fast he would leave the screen and the Genesis would smoke if you weren't careful.

Sonic 2 would be really crazy to try this mod in Casino Night Zone. Plus with the slots you can get a ton of rings and see just how much you can break the game.
The roll is probably weird because the speed most likely works by speeding up time for sonic but slowing everything else down making the roll which im pretty sure works with a different object than sonic move normal speed
I could see this being helpful for the "Lose Tails or ELSE!" ROM hack.
