The reason why it seemed like you got a ring at the very end in the 8-Bit one, it actually switches for "Ring Bonus" too, and ring bonus was the first bonus so you got instantly switched when it ended.

The difference between the original genesis Sonic 2 and Sonic 2 XL is the fact that one has smooth rings and the other one has rougher ones.

It is not "technically" a sonic game, but "Knuckles Chaotix". You should play it with Lair. It would be a good two player game.

For a Sonic fan you really don't know anything about these games, but maybe that's because I still play them up until this day

The first Sonic I ever played was Sonic 2. But my all time favorite is definitely Sonic 3. Sonic 3 is like the perfect Sonic game. Sonic and Knuckles with Sonic 2 is also really cool

My first one was the PC port of Sonic and Knuckles in the early 2000s. My friends had Nintendo growing up so I never got to play the original Genesis versions
My favorite sonic game is either mania or adventure 1, they are both amazing games, SA1 sadly gets overshadowed by its younger brother tho

I started with Sonic 2 on the genesis and never really experienced other sonic games until the mega collection on the ps2 but Sonic 2 is probably my favorite for that nostalgic factor
Basically this is Sonic but the rings are literally drugged.
The adventurous side of me wants to do an "All Sonic Games, All Emeralds" run with this thing active, but I'm pretty sure my sanity would be completely gone by the end of it.

Lol this is nuts. So I had to look this up; the master system games are actually the same ones that were released on game gear. Apparently the game gear hardware was based on the master system so they are compatible. I was confused why they were labeled as master system since I had both those games on my game gear and they look exactly the same.

I guess as far of the basics of how the enemies work those hidden moles are kinda like rocky wrenches but the thrown item is unique imo
As much fun as it was I couldn't get past the 5 minute mark as I was getting a headache from it.
I still have you a thumbs up for it as it isn't your fault and I hope you still do these types of games for yourself and those who can watch them as I would be one if them if I could.

Also, I think why Sonic 2 XL works with this thing, is because the majority of the game is just vanilla Sonic 2, just with the rings swapped for onion rings that look near identical to the Rings in the main game and the mechanic that Sonic can get fat from Rings, or Onion Rings for that matter. Because the ROM is nearly identical to the unpatched version, I think is why it works with this. So many Sonic ROM hacks change up the ROM's contained data so much that stuff like this does not work with it. This even applies to other games. I once tried to use a Pokemon ROM on GBA with a Genning program, and because the ROM was so much modified from it's original state, it just did not work

First time playing was at my dad's friend house and it was Sonic 1 on the Genesis back in '91. The friend also had Road Rash and After Burner II, I instantly loved the system (though thought Sonic yelled "Egg Nog" at the startup, no joke lol). Around Christmas of next year we got our own Genesis with Sonic 2 and that's my fave to this day, love all the music and the levels are balanced out pretty fairly, building up difficulty steadily the longer you play. :)
