  • This DOS2 Beginner's Guide has most of the Quality of Life things that you might need to get you going early on in the game. It also has basic but important concepts for your 1st playthrough. The guide was designed to be as less invasive as possible. In the near future there will be other videos with way more advanced tips and guides for Tactician/Honor players.
    Thank you Xorn, Strongpass, Jo and people from DOS2 subreddit for a good feedback and ideas.

    For the experienced players: Initially I planned to include stuff like AP economy, importance of mobility, skill investments, damage formulas, prebuffs, talents etc. But I've figured that, although these concepts are definitely important and even essential, it would be too confusing for new players to grasp all of this in 1 go. So after trying to get into beginner's shoes, I've decided to split those important concepts into 2 or more videos.
    Yes, I could have mentioned that beginners can focus on certain things and completely ignore other things, but please understand that it's their 1st experience. So I'd ask you to refrain yourselves from telling new guys exact steps and tricks on how to make this game trivial and easy. Those type of things of min-maxing would be discussed in the next "Advanced guide". I might be wrong tho. Thank you for your understanding.

    • @Nazatur
      @Nazatur  Před rokem +1

      @@bradthomas1027 If you mean controlling 1 character only then solo runs are the thing for sure. Especially when you understand mechanics well. With that said, If it's your 1st playthrough I'd recommend to go with a 4 man party. You'll understand the lore better + this is how the game was intendent to play, imo. But if there's too much micromanagement, then you can do duo characters and each of them can have "Lone Wolf" talent.

    Persuasion also one of the most important civil ability imo, you could skip a hard battle with it and also helps with lot of quests....oh and also don't unequip armors near npcs if you're an undead unit lol, cause they all become hostile to your party.

    • @Nazatur
      @Nazatur  Před rokem +2

      Yeah initially Persuasion was in the script, but then I realized that it's okay for some beginners not to use best strats. On top of that, if they skip some fights, they might miss on some unique content, cause some fights are not ordinary.

    • @Nazatur

    I would like to see some kind of explanation for why not to use the organization bundle. Like i get the gist of that it doesn't do what it says on the tin but every time i see this advice i get more and more curious as to what it actually does.

    • @Nazatur
      @Nazatur  Před 5 měsíci

      I'm just gonna copy it from my reply under another video: "The idea behind this giftbag is great, the execution in my opinion is horrible. You have to "get used to it" in order to benefit from it. Add to this inability to easily bail out of this gift bag if you don't like it and you'll have a lot of frustrated people as a result.
      It's nice that it helps you. Sadly overwhelming majority of people I talked to about this "qol" mod said they absolutely hate it. (especially people on consoles). I think so too. Was it like 20+ specialized bags for each character? Unnecessary separation of weapons on blunt/sharp or armor on boot+belts then helmets+gloves etc. Navigating between all this mess becomes even worse than without them. (Especially with a controller). Or when your items are placed in those bags, you can't access them while trading with a merchant. You gotta close the window, open the bag, add the item to wares and then open vendoring window again.
      And then the cherry on top is not being able to easily get rid off those bags if you wanna stop this circus."

      It's understandable, a few of my friends don't get the genre either, so it's ok. I guess if you really want to get into crpgs and turned-based games, then the rule of thumb is to just keep playing on easy difficulties until you slowly grasp the basic concepts.

    i heard game give you a lot of freedom to play how you like. But it seems you need to focus on certain perks... that's sucks a lot that is the only way to be efficient. I assume for more fun and freedome i should choose easy mode :/

    • @Nazatur
      @Nazatur  Před rokem

      Well yes and no. You'll feel the game being more restrictive on highest difficulties. That's where you "efficiency" is more important. I've noticed that the main reason a lot of people quit is because they screw up their builds in act 1. They don't fancy the idea to restart, so I had to steer new players' playstyle a little bit: don't try to do both magic and phys damage with a single character and that there's a retraining option if you actually screwed up your build.
      tldr: the game is still a lot of fun, so try it

    I disagree with Lucky charm. you don't need it, just give every member in your party thievery and you will always have lots of gold and good items, it is so much better than finding random rare loot, just steal everything you want. trust me. that said, some gear you come accross will have lucky charm on it, just don't waste skill points on it though

    • @Nazatur
      @Nazatur  Před rokem +1

      There's nothing wrong with having 1 character maxing lucky charm. Sure you can go do as much stealing as you want, but having a chance to find extra gear is always better than not having it. Besides without lucky charm you will be locked with items of your level. You won't find any high lvl gear early on without lucky charm, with a few exceptions of course.

    As much as I want to like this game, I think BG3 spoiled me in terms of game mechanics and build freedom. Nearly all guides I see for dos2 make it clear that to succeed you really just need 4 damage dealers or you are gonna have the bad time. They say tanks and healers are a waste when you need as much damage as possible. It makes sense with the way the armor system and AP works but to me that really kinda takes a way a lot of the fun of party composition.
    Maybe in a year or two I’ll come back and try again but for now, it’s not the game for me

      I get it, it's hard not to compare these games. For me it was the same with coming back to dos1 after dos2. But despite that all 3 games are great in my opinion

    This needs an update on how to do all of it by using controllers instead of keyboard.

    • @Nazatur

      Sadly can't help with that, never used the controller for this game so my new perspective won't be that much helpful.

      That is true, but hey dos2 modding community is great. There's a lot of cool mods to spice up your playthroughs or to completely change the feeling of the game.
