I've said before but it is worth knowing, that Dorothya can give all party members an Ashen Idol of Rebirth through her quest options. All options will lose you 2 Constitution, some in favour of 2 of another stat, but one option is for an Ashen Idol. I'd rather lose 2 Constution for the Idol.
Do NOT drink the Attar of the Blood Rose before arriving in Act 2. I drank it immediatly after getting the rose, and I lost the effect during Act 1.5. Might be a bug or something related to where you go during that.
All potions I've tried can be combined to boost the effect. Resistance Potions, Invisibility, Poison, you name it. Attempt to combine 2 of the same type and find out.
Here's a VERY strong one Paper + Source Orb + Carrot = Ethereal Storm Scroll That's right. You can cast Ethereal Storm, which usually costs 3 Source Points, over and over again at relatively little cost, as Carrots and Source Orbs are both infinitely obtainable from merchants. If you have Ambidextrous you can cast it multiple times each turn too.
Vapapae You’ve probably already discovered this, but: no, you can’t. You can combine honey and a heart-shaped bottle for a slightly weaker version of the mind-maggot grenade, though.
2:00 for this one it may be worth it to invest in the five star diner talent as this will double the effects of the Attar of the Blood Rose, giving you +2 to all attributes instead of just +1
A simple but nice one is shells and a long branch. Makes a staff equal to your characters lvl. Makes for a great profit selling them considering the value of the 2 items needed to craft it.
It's so refreshing and nice to allow experimentation without things being destroyed if you don't craft anything from an experimentation. I have never seen another game do this, they always ruin the joy of crafting by introducing risk and loss of stuff.
They improve it from the last game (Divinity Original Sin 1). In the last game it require skill point to be invested into the crafting ability which limiting my choice for my character. I ended up seldom using any of the crafting mechanic because of this + i don't really know good recipe. The thing that i often craft is punnybun mushrom + empty potion and another fire resistance potion that i only use when fighting againt braccus rex (yep only 1 time that i used resistance potion)
I really glad that they introduce portable bedroll so my party can get into full capability without the need to spend ton of food or healing potion after battle. And i don't need to cheese every aftermath battle with teleporting into town and use their bed to recover health

I played a custom undead on my first play-through, and the number of times I accidentally killed (or nearly killed) myself with a restoration spell is embarrassingly large.

Everytime a the crafting merchant refreshes they have will have 1 in stock. You are right you can't really farm them which makes them kinda rare. The kid named Han can be sent out to fetch various crafting ingredients. He can get you a few too.
i played this with my brother and we didn't find half of those we only found it out because we looked up how to get through the lizard consulate and people suggested blood rain, which we then also had to look up how to get (and in the end, it didn't even work bc the internet lied to us xD) we also didn't find out about winter boots or poisoning weapons ok, the blood rose one is very specific how to properly craft arrows is also trial and error, but having more charm arrows would've been nice we didn't have lockpick issues ^^ combining potions? that would've been really nice to know and ofc we didn't find out about the poison honestly, the crafting system is one of the weakest parts of the game. it's not necessary for the most part, it's based on finding logical combinations, but as we're limited to logic, they sometimes forgot to add something that is logical for others.
Two favorites that I found this playthrough are the resurrection scrolls are craftable from any quality of water and life essences and paper, and the fact that later on in the game you can get extra main stats from putting runes into frames depending on the type of rune you use. I have SOOOOOO much more finesse, strength and Int for the final battle now! :D
antlers + knife create knockdown arrowheads, if the enemy have low physical armor then these are really useful as you basically make them lose their turn
Dude...knockdown arrows were my jam during my first play-through. Of course, there are a great many useful ways to knock down a foe...and it's always hilarious.

Funnier option is to give the "healing potion" to your undead co-op partner for a good bit of mind screw, as they avoid using the life saving potion like the plague
Yes that is why it is a mind screw. The undead partner will think the potion is a normal healing potion and avoid it, when it is actually poisoned and will be good for them.
yank31 mind games often are best when the victims unaware of it, until the big reveal, after which they'll never quite be sure if the potion you give them are good or bad
that potion thing also works with poisons, so if you're undead, you can make a ton of smaller poison potions out of empty bottles and ooze barrels, then combine them all into mega potions. I wish you got a bottle back with it, too, since you're basically just pouring the potion into another bottle, but whatev.
Keep the ooze barrel stored in your inventory. It seems to be unlimited so you can keep using it on new weapons if you replaced your old ones that were poisoned.

He's not there, but his wife is, and if you talk to her, she offers to sell you tea - and if you combine the already overpowered tea leaves she gives you with a cup of water, you get the most insane overpowered consumable item ever (e.g. one of the teas gives you -2 AP cost for 3 turns).
i heard some people cheese bosses by selling them potions/buff scrolls so that they waste all their turns, would NPCs also drink the fake potions u give them?

One tip from me and i don't know how known it is BUT in act one you will come across the camp near the end in which you can turn the water infront of a waypoint into blessed water permanently by talking to said waypoint (statue of amadia i believe) and making the right choices afterwards + if you have the perk which allows you to talk to animals you can talk to one or more of the burning pigs IF you healed them from their curse before and make them go into that blessed water the one i chose turned into a merchant who stayed at the camp and had some pretty awesome gear for me :D
Or, if you make the wrong choices and make the water permanently blood-misted and you lead a pig to pray to Amadia while standing in it, you get lots of pig chunks all over.
If you have spare gold, you can kick 1 of your followers from the party, recruit a mercenary at the ship, let the mercenary receive the debuff from Dorotya and get the ashen idol of rebirth, then just keep the idol, kick the mercenary and repeat until you get 4 idols (If you have a party of 4) Then just go back and recruit the person you first kicked from your group. 4 idols, no debuff in any of your party members. (So you can actually get something in exchange for the debuff, with your party, since when you get the idol, Dorotya just leave a debuff of -2 cons on you.)
For a potent venom in weapons just combine the weapon with a LARGE or HUGE botle of poison (They are make it in the same way that the healings potions)
Story is alright so far. though spending almost 60 fucking hours in the starting area alone means that imma be playin this for quite some time. yes it is an amazing game. yeah, I do think its worth yer cash.
Attar of the blood rose is best drank in Arx before you fight the final boss. visiting the hall of echoes at any point, or going to a new act will remove its effects.
poison weapons can be made with poison flask (not just ooze barrel), also the blood rose stat boost potion is apparently lost if you respec on the boat.
blood rose was lost, but they fixed that. ooze barrels don't get consumed so you can use them infinity hence they are "better", even if they do the same as a poison flask.

ok, serious question, how are you supposed to find these? how are you supposed to figure all of this out? I have not used the crafting system not once in my 60 hours of gameplay (still early game though, as I die a lot and have to look around for other ways to progress.) it is insane, even how you get some books, or the pre-knowledge required to do some stuff... it is crazy.. like getting the inner demon book, how are you supposed to know that you aren't supposed to talk to Jhaan or whatever unless you have 3 source points? how are you supposed to know he has it to begin with?
some of them are just pure luck, if 1000 people play the same game at least 1 will find accidentally some of the interactions and its amazing, besides some books and npcs teaches you some recipies, so reading every single lore book can be a potencial new recipie, for example i didnt knew that you can craft resurrection scrolls until i reached my second playtrhough
To people asking if this game is worth to buy. You can cast whatever skill you have on NPC. Amadia Sanctuary there are some injured NPC I have no idea I can cast heal(restoration) on them and yep their injuries hsve been healed. In the fort joy camp there are 2 sick people one is close to where Migo is. I let him die not knowing I can cast my heal on NPC. Lmao
Edge9404 If you go close or talk to NPCs, a timer will sometimes start. If the enough time passes the injured man will succumb to his wounds and die, Elodi the elf next to Ifan will be killed by Griff's hooligans etc.
this isn't specifically relevant but its something i just did on my current play though and thought it would be a great tip.before leaving each act you should respec everyone with thievery and and go around and steal everything possible. by the final act you'll be so geared and rich nothing will stop you
The ooze barrel is just really useful overall. Combine it with potion bottles (or healing pots but idk why you’d do that) for poison potions that are essentially healing for your undead.

does anyone know if there is a use for broken bottles? i mean empty bottles can make grenades but you can use a hammer on any type of bottle to break it so they must have a use!

I find it's almost always better to just pick up the skill book from a vendor than craft one. The only times I could see crafting skill books are to access a few skills a few levels before the game starts selling them, or acquire a skill for two party members at a critical juncture.

If you use the Mirror to respec, you lose the effect.
If you're playing Undead, combine your food and drink with an ooze barrel. This creates a poisoned version which heals undead characters.

Soap + weapon doesn't combine. The poison is permanent, and it's not worth it if you want to keep your weapon past Fort Joy.

You can find some of them, but I doubt all of them are there. Highly doubt Soap+Key is anywhere.
The Blood Rose is also considered "food" thus a party member with 5-star dinner will get an increase of 2 in every stat!

you can get two bloody roses. if you first steal from the witch one rose, then the second can be picked up from her corpse

Story is alright so far. though spending almost 60 fucking hours in the starting area alone means that imma be playin this for quite some time. yes it is an amazing game. yeah, I do think its worth yer cash.
Attar of the blood rose is best drank in Arx before you fight the final boss. visiting the hall of echoes at any point, or going to a new act will remove its effects.
that was a bug that I think is now fixed but don't quote me on that

This helps alot. Especially the soak with the key. I had 3 useless keys from the initial boat.
It doesn't consume the key - only the boat. So as long as you have at least one key, you're good.

poison weapons can be made with poison flask (not just ooze barrel), also the blood rose stat boost potion is apparently lost if you respec on the boat.
blood rose was lost, but they fixed that.
ooze barrels don't get consumed so you can use them infinity hence they are "better", even if they do the same as a poison flask.
You can use a Zaikk's Talon as well. Doesn't take up all that weight, either.

Yeah I just started playing as Fane and I am super glad to be carrying around a ooze Barrel spite the fact that it's really heavy.
ok, serious question, how are you supposed to find these? how are you supposed to figure all of this out? I have not used the crafting system not once in my 60 hours of gameplay (still early game though, as I die a lot and have to look around for other ways to progress.)
it is insane, even how you get some books, or the pre-knowledge required to do some stuff... it is crazy..
like getting the inner demon book, how are you supposed to know that you aren't supposed to talk to Jhaan or whatever unless you have 3 source points? how are you supposed to know he has it to begin with?
some of them are just pure luck, if 1000 people play the same game at least 1 will find accidentally some of the interactions and its amazing, besides some books and npcs teaches you some recipies, so reading every single lore book can be a potencial new recipie, for example i didnt knew that you can craft resurrection scrolls until i reached my second playtrhough

Nope there is no Elemental Blank Skill Book that will be combined with Resurrection Scroll.

No it isn't a skill in this game.
Not resurrection, but close is the Necromancy: Last Rites brings back the party member to life (or undeath).

Pro tip: You can get 2 glowing idols of rebirth. One from doing her quest and one from pickpocketing/murdering.
you can get 4 now just do the quest with every party member.

You can get 5 all 4 party members do the quest then kill her , and one of your members will have 2 to use
To people asking if this game is worth to buy. You can cast whatever skill you have on NPC. Amadia Sanctuary there are some injured NPC I have no idea I can cast heal(restoration) on them and yep their injuries hsve been healed. In the fort joy camp there are 2 sick people one is close to where Migo is. I let him die not knowing I can cast my heal on NPC. Lmao

i just bought it back from who i sold it to, in my case the marked, pretty good change you can find it back.
this isn't specifically relevant but its something i just did on my current play though and thought it would be a great tip.before leaving each act you should respec everyone with thievery and and go around and steal everything possible. by the final act you'll be so geared and rich nothing will stop you

Pro tip for newbies: if u summon ur creature into water it will get restoration skill u can use to heal ur party
if you summon the creature in any surface it gains abilities related to that type of surface
Cant believe I was using my amplifier to get better healing potions when I could just combine them :0
The ooze barrel is just really useful overall. Combine it with potion bottles (or healing pots but idk why you’d do that) for poison potions that are essentially healing for your undead.
Actually I think that the poison healing potion is perfect for healing the undead though obviously the simple poison in a flask is perfectly viable

Hahaha I turned all my weapons into poisonous by the ooze barrels and now I have a lil hard time trying to beat the undead

All combinations have been figured out before the game came out, the devs said how it worked.
so did the devs make a list? or did someone compile all the things the devs said and make a complete list? or i'm thinking the devs didn't say all the combinations leaving the possibility of combinations created by the devs that no one has figured out yet

does anyone know if there is a use for broken bottles? i mean empty bottles can make grenades but you can use a hammer on any type of bottle to break it so they must have a use!

ya it should be in Fort Joy as that is also where you can learn the recipe
I find it's almost always better to just pick up the skill book from a vendor than craft one. The only times I could see crafting skill books are to access a few skills a few levels before the game starts selling them, or acquire a skill for two party members at a critical juncture.
can you use red dye to make a green substance red?
Uh, can't combine a scroll and skill book of that class to get _that_ skill book. Doesn't work for me.
