Why? Daenery's descent into Mad Queen has always been foreshadowed in the TV show and books. I won't be surprised at all if the books have similar endings except WITH WAY BETTER EXECUTION. The biggest problem with the TV show is that the entire Long Night battle should have lasted FOR ONE SEASON NOT ONE EPISODE. Same thing can be said with Daenerys's descent into madness and the war in King's Landing.

@@sudevsen i am always appalled by this sort of lack of empathy and basic knowledge of human capabilities. I am in the "eat the rich" team and even i was shocked by this comment as my problem with the rich is with the system not the individuals. As human beings, no matter how much money you have, though it might help in terms of getting adequate help in time and make lots of things easier it will not completely eliminate how any human being just or being human is prone to some serious psychological effects. It is not simply a common difficulty to focus. Insecurity and anxiety can literally paralyze you, incapacitate you beyond your control and if you can't revert it or even i you treat it with some drugs such as diazepam your cognitive skills are seriously affected. I don't think that is the case here but these things don't always show and we should not be so promptly dismissive o this plight. • @alex939709
      @alex939709 Před 5 lety +4

The problem with Dorne is that it has so many new characters in the block, it has a super intricate plot with so many outstanding questions, it has no written base on which to embroider, and an impossible ending to imagine.
Staging the Dorne of the books meant having to recruit so many new actors (and money on the casting), putting them next to idols by now consolidated from the first season (ergo they could not compete with them in popularity, useless to walk around), having to invent an ending without being able to use the Griff (cut for the same reason), and having to invent it from scratch (and we all know how bad things are written ex novo by DeD).
The solution chosen was the most economical one in terms of money and intellectual energy: reducing the cast to a minimum, making it appear the bare minimum (both the spectators will always be interested in Stark / Lannister / Targaryen, all the rest is boring for them), and let them die as soon as possible.

Might just be me, but the GoT fatigue has already set in. Mainly because it has become more and more obvious that the writers have no idea where they are going (perhaps just like GRRM).
In what universe would a GoT last season that falls flat and is boring push people into a prequel that is thousands of years before?
When they realize there is no Sansa or Jon or Arya they won´t care unless the writing is phenomenal (fat chance). And the book fans probably won´t care about more fan fiction.

LOL Indeed. Sometimes it takes authors a really long time to tell their story. They get writer's block, run into issues in their lives, take a break to do other projects, and eventually return to their world and story. Just look at how long it took J.R.R. Tolkien to tell the story he ultimately wanted to tell. And then look at all of the material that never actually made it into The Lord of the Rings.
The same kind of creative issues can plague even the most talented of artists regardless of what kind of content they're creating. It happens to writers, manga/comic authors, musicians, directors, etc. You can't force creativity. It moves at whatever pace it needs to.

He knowingly signed the TV rights over to HBO with everything that comes with that decision. Everyone gets something out of the arrangement even if the showrunners gave up trying to adapt his work years ago.
We'll probably never know what he really thinks of any of this beyond what he's already said publicly. And as much as I'd like to know what he really thinks about this particular adaptation, I'm okay with never knowing as long as he's able to tell the story he wants in his own way at his own pace. Since he still completely owns his world, characters, and story, he's going to be able to do that regardless of what the show has done or will do.

What was so horrible with ep. 4 that motivates it being the lowest ranking episode of GoT ever (and also receiving over 2000 bad scores on IMDB BEFORE even airing, strangely enough), ranked even worse than s.5 ep. 6? It seems utterly unreasonable. Was it the death of Rheagal people couldn't handle? Because I don't see it as illogical that a justifiably stressed and impatient Dany would make the mistake of falling ambush to Eurons fleet, hiding behind Dragonstone (you see the ships emerge from a narrow straight), and one dragon falling victim to his 10 + scorpions. The script in itself doesn't seem incredible, even though you could argue it looked a bit aimbot-ish visually. Was it that scene that made you think the show was ruined? And why really? Dramaturgically it makes a lot of sense.

@@mrsmokingskittles148 , So it's only this scene that pisses people of about the episode? Still don't get why people are so mad about it. Dany made a mistake because she is obviously stressed and impatient (she feels like she's losing everything), Sansa even warned or no to be to hasty. They made a point about letting Dany not letting the troops rest, and Rheagal being wounded, something that would make him less acute of his surroundings and easier to take down (he probably flies slower and has worse reactions). Also, it looks a bit like Rheagals body is in the way of Drogons, making him a more likely target. It's an obvious mistake from Dany side not being better prepared, but it's a mistake that makes sense with her character. All episode we saw her stress growing.
And since when did characters making grave mistakes become instantly bad writing? It's not like people reacted like this when Oberyn did his fatal mistake of letting his guard down in s.4. It's kinda similar, both things are dumb and shocking.
Why didn't people outrage over the weirdness in Sam being surrounded and detected by wights and a WW in the s.2 finale but still being saved, or when the Lannisters attacked Syrio Forel one by one, and not even trying to grab Arya, who was their important target back in s.1? Or when Stannis had no idea that a 100 000 strong army was literally less than days march away from KL in s.2 ep. 9? I just feel like people are judging this season unfairly harsh.

In the 5 years since I started watching GoT, I’ve always said that I will finish watching season 8, and then I will start to read the books. The reality is that because I’ve seen the show first, I will picture the actors in my head. It’s inevitable. But the books will still have that booky charm.

Ah No. This interview suggests that the major plots in the TV show and the books are going to be the same, and after yesterday’s episode that does seem depressing! Maybe the delivery of the books will be better than the TV show(I originally only cared about the books but eventually got into the TV show).

I don't think that's as bad as it sounds. If you try to look past bad execution the major points of the plot are not that horrible. By bad execution, I mostly mean wasting entire episodes on small talk just to please the fans by showing them favourite characters together, suddenly making everyone naive and unaware of how politics work and their motivations shallow, and killing off characters in a silly way because they've done their job and no one knows what to do with them anyway, forgetting physical limitation of time and space and ignoring minor characters. Showrunners streamlined the show by limiting the number of key players considerably, either by forgetting entire nations or by creating alliances that work a bit too smoothly. If all those problems are dodged, and I'm sure they will be in the book, technically similar events can become something else entirely.

If people are wondering why he said additional 5 seasons, it’s because how much content they is in books 5. A lot of stuff got abandoned in season 5 like Tyrion adventure after the end of season 4, the book and show drastic different from that moment onwards tbh. Plus the dorne plot line ...

@@albertobe3339 sarcasm? lol just wanted to point it out because for season 5 onwards people excused it due to running out of soruce material but reality that not entirely true. I still feel like they would have ran out of source materials eventually depends when winds of winter come out. However don't really blame the show runners because yeah it a long time and they probably want to move on and do something else.
