      He had 7 years for the show to not surpass him. That's his baby, why did he get lazy & not finish the book that he signed on to do? He ran away with the HBO mullah once HBO gave him the money up front. If you get paid to build a house, all up front, with no time constraints, some with no integrity, would do what George did, become a lazy toad.
      In the 7 years since he signed on with HBO to the end of season 5, what exactly was George doing during this time, that became a bigger priority, than finishing the book?
      D&D went ahead without him. They made season 6 without any books (Tracks as you say). Season 6, so happens to have 3 of the top 6 rated episodes of the GOT on IMDB, according to voters. Which catapulted season 6, in being the highest avg. rated episodes for a season. Not bad, for no tracks to follow. Add Season 7, episode 4, you now have 4 of the top 6 episodes made.
      After doing season 6, they announced that they would do a shortened season 7 & 8. Reading between the lines, they got fed up waiting around for lazy George.
      Most the criticism they got, came off the ladder episodes of season 8 (Not counting the Monday Morning QBs that went back a few seasons & criticized them too, after they watched the end of season 8). Where George advised D&D long ago of where each main character's cards would fall. This was all foreshadowed in the pilot episode. George had already built the tracks & the platform for the last stop, nearly 11 years ago. He now wants to tear it up, because a quarter of the viewers threw tantrums on the ending, his ending.

      That was amazing. The question was of course staged (I mean that must be the most asked question in interviews with cast members of the series) and the answers were pretty standard, and the idea was to play on the cast's embarassement (real or fake) in front of George.
      With a few simple words, and a pause, Nikolaj managed to make everybody laugh and at the same time, in a way, to turn the joke on George. The cast had all a moment of realization before laughing so I really think Nikolaj's answer was pure improv, something he came up with after listening to Maisie's answer. He's a good actor and a great guy too, just watch his interviews with Gwendoline, you'll also see there's a dark side to his humor.

      Kit's most popular episode was in the Battle of the Bastards, ranked #1 episode by IMDB viewers. Season 6, wasn't based on any books, D&D seemed to do a pretty good job with season 6, as it too, was ranked #1, for the highest average vote per episode. You're just hating, because you bought into too much hype before season 8, inaccurate predictions by wanna be screenplay writers, the show was coming to a close & that D&D didn't wait another 10 years for that lazy toad George to finish the books. If HBO paid him only after he would finish all the books, he would of completed the books sooner, then take all the blame for the last episodes, as the ending was still his brain child that he held on to forever. The sour grapes started only in the last few episodes of Season 8, the proof in that, is that not one weekly reactor to GOT, when it first aired, griped at anything substantial up to that point.The claim then became that D&D sucked on anything they did. A lie, brought on by hate, by some, of things not going their way.

    One of the greatest changes the show made from the books is just like Maisie Williams said, in the books she serves as Cupbearer at Harrenhal for Roose Bolton -- not Tywin Lannister like it is in the show. And some of those moments between her and Tywin were brilliant, with him being impressed at her intelligence on an almost like fatherly or grandfatherly level. Some might even think that it also factored into her decision to not name him as one of the three people she wanted Jaqen H'ghar to kill. If she did name him, it would have had perhaps an even greater effect on the overall war of the Five Kings than it would have if she had even named someone like Joffrey. Tywin Lannister wasn't the King, but he arguably had more power than any of the Kings that ever served.

    • @CommanderLongJohn
      @CommanderLongJohn Před 2 lety +81

      When you actually analyze those scenes it's really idiotic though.. like there's no possible way on earth TYWIN Lannister doesn't realize just who in the hell she is; he acknowledged she's a high born posing as a low born, she can read and has a MAESTERS-esque knowledge of the Targaryen's (specifically regarding Harrenhal), he knows she's from the North and her "mother served lady Dustin" (so how in the flying fuck could she have gotten down there?), her 'stonemason' father was "killed" by "loyalty", and most importantly he knows Arya Stark hasn't been seen since Ned's death; there's not a shot in hell he doesn't connect the dots, or at a bare minimum suspect something is amuck 🤷

I think he even realizes that she is a high born girl from the North. BUT he enjoyed her company so much he was willing to overlook it. It's not as if he let her go, she was basically still his captive but she was given privileged access to his company just because he liked her so much. But he wasn't letting her go. She had to escape. My own personal take from it is he knew she was high born and from the North, but he didn't know she was a Stark. If he knew that, he could've used her to force Robb Stark to end the war immediately or she would have been executed or something. He probably assumed she was high born from the North from a smaller house, but high born all the same.

Like OF COURSE Arya becomes the servant of Tywin because OF COURSE he happened to park his army in Harrenhal at the same time Arya was there. And then OF COURSE Tywin figures it all it because he's a smart, analytical character.
      I think a large part of what makes the interactions between Arya and Tywin so great, is because in pretty much no other circumstance would they be able to talk casually. The expectation is that Arya will get caught if she doesn't play her cards right. She could say something wrong, give the wrong kind of information, or something else. It makes the audience hang on to every word. Then against expectation, the duo gets along well.

    • @RedFloyd469
      @RedFloyd469 Před rokem +3

      Well, although I can't say whether there are any lady stoneheart chapters in dance of dragons (I still have to finish that one), it's not at all obvious from just reading the "Catelyn" chapters and nothing else, that she would turn into lady stoneheart. Furthermore, After Catelyn dies, lady stoneheart is mentioned only indirectly or in passing.
      One chapter is a POV from a frey, meeting stoneheart for a hot minute before being hanged. Not exactly lots of information here. The rest is mostly just the chapters from the POV of Brienne. And even then only when Brienne gets hanged by Stoneheart. Their meeting is very very brief.
      In any case, Stoneheart is no longer really an important character in terms of big events anymore. Her actions have consequences, but they are consequences because of the actions of the brotherhood without banners in general. We don't need to see her perspective on things, because her perspective is very straightforward: "blind vengeance". And It was pretty clear after a while that D&D weren't going to invite her actress anymore and were going in a different direction after a while.

      As if Seasons 5-7 were good and not in desperate need for readaptation as well. Season 8 might be a bad ending for the books, but it is an aptly rushed and mediocre ending for the rushed and mediocre second half of the show (e.g. Martin hopes in the interview that the massive Books 4 and 5 will be adapted into 2-3 seasons: the show - very loosely - adapted them into a single season). George finishing the books won't make pre-season 8 Euron salvageable in a S8 replacement movie. You either remake the second half of the show or don't remake at all.

    I've read all The Expanse books and I've seen all the released seasons, in that order, and I have to say, I like both versions. Some of the characters are exactly like how I portrayed them in my head, while others are completely off the mark. I have not read Songs of Fire and Ice, but I guess it would be a similar experience. In some instances, I prefer the casting and in some, I almost detest the performance of the actor they chose. And a few have grown on me and blended into what I thought of them before, and now I can't remember how I pictured them to begin with. All in all, I'm glad I read the books before I started to watch the show. With Game of Thrones, I haven't had the chance to do that. So I have no idea how I'd feel about the show after reading the books. As for Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, I did read the books before the movies, and I have to say, the movies became much richer having read the books beforehand. So, I would expect that reading Songs of Fire and Ice first would enhance Game of Thrones even more. Anyway, that's my opinion.
