Also the best version of Meta Knight as well. Still borderline top tier with great movement and consistent 0 to death ladder combos while not being the war crime that he was in Brawl. It was the perfect balance. I miss Smash 4 MK so much in Ultimate. The 0 to deaths are still possible but boy are there many factors that make them so much more difficult and inconsistent now.
I was in the crowd for this when it happened. A large part of our crowd was rooting for 6WX because he was from our region and back in the day Ally was prime upset material. Watching him lose was something a lot of people wanted. If I remember correctly, this was also the first match of Top 8, after a loooong downtime of friendlies matches and the PM side-event. You could feel the tension in the air at this event; the crowd wanted to see some blood. You could never tell from the vods but I can assure you; I'll never forget the loud, booming, synchronized "NOOOOO" that echoed from the audience when this moment happened. I think after this moment the hatred for Smash 4 Mario specifically went up by a lot. You wouldn't be crazy if you said this moment here is the reason why Sonic was downplayed as a competitive threat in Smash 4 during those times: There was always something more immediately disgusting for the crowd to boo.
Sonic got hit by ONE HITBOX of the up special, he got killed at 0%, AND JUST TO ADD SALT TO THE INJURY, the move did less than 1% and since decimals aren't shown till ultimate, it seems as if Sonic got killed by a move with no dmg and low knockback
@@ThreeEyedPea The first hit of a multi hit move usually has really high SET knockback so that the rest of the hits connect instead of the enemy just falling out of it, but if you somehow manage to hit your opponent with *just* the first hit its busted, just like Roy's reverse Up-B in Melee that would delete puff at 0% on the floor.
My theory on this absolute robbery of a kill is that the Up-B did a decimal amount of damage *JUST* enough so it triggers a screen KO, one shotting 6WX as a result.
This was definitely the strength of Smash 4, anything could happen. You don't look at a guy at 300% down a stock and say, "Well, we all know how this ends," you say "He can still do this." It seems some people don't care for this, but Smash 4 is a content-farm of hype moments and crazy comebacks. And then there's Bayonetta.

People see these and make it seemed this stuff happened all the time, but it's rare, otherwise you'd see every set abusing this. Ultimate has way more cringe and jank, it just goes under the radar and normal players dismiss it. Veteran players who played the other games can see all the weird mini exchanges that go on, and it how weird it feels, even if you don't die at 0 from them. It's annoying as hell losing neutral to minor exchanges because you're barely off or because the other guy accidentally hurtbox shifts and wins it. In Ultimate, half the cast is carried by some gimmick or "matchup check", and the only way you get through that is by playing it a ridiculous amount, and it's why you see upsets left and right in this game. And not to mention how people can get away with really lazy minimalist playstyles and get away with it. That stuff happened way less in previous games, including Smash 4.
Haha that’s a classic. I’ll vouch for Sm4sh. I think mechanically 4 is more fun at a competitive level because you can be more consistent. SmUsh has a lot less cool tech like perfect pivoting and running through your opponent. Characters in Ult. don’t have the same “swag” factor that 4 has. However, Bayo and Cloud in Sm4sh are sins against balance and ruined any lasting power 4 had by effectively invalidating more than half the cast. This vid is actually sick, at around 10-50% Sonic’s up-throw will set up for a “spring ride” that puts both characters incredibly close to the blast zone. Within a very small window (and against bigger bodies like ROB) this is advantageous and Sonic can up-air to kill. In almost every other scenario the Sonic is negative, or the opponent can airdodge and a normal combo would have been better. However, Ally knew SWX likes using spring ride and figured out a counter… that’s hype as heck. It’s not a perfect game, but 4 will always have a special place in my heart. Weird to see pedos playing though…
Both of these games are poorly designed for competition and whilst ult is bullshit it doesn't have literally dying at 0. Rage was such a bad idea for a mechanic. Both of these games needed like 3 extra patches
@@illford6921 rage was pretty busted in Sm4sh, most notably on DK and Bowser. It wasn’t common that moves would just kill at 0, more that combos would become true that led to KOs at 20-30%. There’s some really funny commentary of “oh no he’s in Ding Dong percent, he’s got to be careful.” Mario killing here wasn’t necessarily even due to rage. Thought he only hit with the first hitbox of up-b which has fixed knock back up. That’s why Ally reversed the move, so the next hits don’t connect. Samus has a similar way to cheese stocks.
